Wondering about an answer - Miles

Submitted by winterblue75 on
Over the past few days as the RR heat has been turned up a notch, I've heard callers on various radio shows and people in other forums again bring up Les Miles (whatever, that boat has sailed). But my question is, there seems to be some underlying reason (brought up by said callers, or hosts) who want to be very vague as to why Miles could never be the HFC at Michigan. They make it out to be some great secret and won't go any further. And it also seems to relate back to the time when he was an assistant under Moeller. What is this big secret or underlying reason? I'm not trying to start anything against RR or for Miles...I'm just curious as to what might be the answer to this big secret.

when he referred to our biggest rival as "Ohio" and proceeded to state "maybe one day, Michigan will win that game again." Nothing like making fun of a team to reiterate "I am not interested." Neither are we asshole. Sincerely, Michigan fans that think Les Miles is a DB

The actual deal is that he and LC do not get along. When Gary Moeller resigned, Miles wanted the HC (or DC, I don't really remember) job. Miles bolted for Oklahoma State and LC hasn't forgiven him for that. Negative recruiting might have gone on after that to add to the package, but that was the starter.

I was in school with Les. A purebread horse's ass. Banging someone else's wife, using Parkinsons to recruit against Lloyd, this is the level I expected for Lester.....who I remember as a man who loved working his mullett. Les aint at Michigan, because he has already been here, so we know what a jerk he is. I would rather go through what we are going through with RichRod than have Les here acting like the messiah.

Michigan never really offer him a head coaching job despite the rampant speculation that Miles is a viable candidate. Not sure why Kirk Herbstreit said that Les Miles is the coach for Michigan when Miles really never got offered.

my super elaborate conspiracy theory...take it in now, because i'll only post it once. miles did nail moeller's wife. he broke the unspoken rule. its a big reason, if not the only reason, he had to go to colorado. its also a big part of the reason lloyd got the head job instead of him when moeller was fired. maybe moeller's wife's infidelity had a little bit to do with him turning into an angry drunk? not hard to imagine. maybe lloyd, bo and others saw les as the reason moeller's life went to crap for a while there and he lost his job? maybe that is why lloyd and others in the know at michigan were so oppposed to miles getting the job? he broke the biggest unspoken rule amongst coaches of the same staff. there was no way he'd be welcomed back into the circle. but, because of his enormous success at lsu, and the lack of knowledge amongst most alumni donors to the situation, there was a great push to hire miles. lloyd and others in the know wanted nothing of it. martin had to to do SOMETHING to appeal to the calls of the alumni. and so goes the scheme. desmond howard, a member of the search committee, breaks the story to idiot osu alum (a perk) and fellow espn crew member herbstreit that miles will be offered, and will accept the uofm game on the morning of the sec championship game. bill martin is, coincidentally, on a sail boat without a cell phone for the entire day. miles is faced with these rumors. the lsu administration is telling him, "right now, in or out." he doesnt know if he will or will not be offered the michigan job. he cannot contact bill martin. lloyd and others ignore his phone calls, if there were any. stay at lsu, win a national championship, or possibly be out of any job!?!?!?! les miles makes that stupid speech, pledges his allegiance to lsu, denies the rumors, herby looks like an idiot, miles is out of the race, no one knows about the moeller situation, all is well...michigan pursues its real candidates.

Miles is a dirtball, who may or may not have slept around with other coach's wives as an assistant under Bo, and was never seriously considered as a candidate for the head coaching job?

I gotta say, Michigan is the only top-tier football program in the country that would pass up a Grade A coach because said coach happens to be completely classless. I guess it's a side effect of your program being stationed in Ann Arbor, lol
