Wolverines in the 2017 NFL Draft

Submitted by FormerlyBigBlue71 on

A lot has been said about the pure quantity of Ohio State Players that will be taken in this years draft.  While Michigan will likely only have a couple of players taken, 2017 is setting up to have the most wolverines drafted in a single year in a long time.  This reflects well on Harbaugh and staff that our players are finally being developed properly.  Frankly, the NFL needs an influx of wolverines as our numbers seem to be dwindling.

In my opinion, our sure fire draft picks(and my guess at where they could fall) are...

OFFENSE
Jake Butt- Rounds 1-2
Jehu Chesson- Rounds 2-5

DEFENSE
Chris Wormley- Rounds 2-5
Willie Henry(If he doesn't leave this year)- Rounds 2-5
Ryan Glasgow-Rounds 3-6
Jourdan Lewis- Rounds 1-2
Jabril Peppers (please stay one more year)- Rounds 1-2

There are also a number of possible draft picks.

SLEEPERS
Amara Darboh- Rounds 6-7
Deveon Smith- Rounds 6-7
Taco Charlton- Rounds 5-7
Dymonte Thomas(projecting a bit due to massive improvements made this year)- Rounds 6-7

Minimum 5 draft picks, Maximum 11!

Thoughts on who will be drafted and what round?

Based on measurements if taco has a breakout year, he will be drafted pretty high. He looks like tarzan and sometimes plays like jane (but did improve alot this year). Chesson is a guy who i see having a great year and being at least a 3rd rd pick. Lewis and butt will be at least a 2nd rd pick. Maybe 3rd for butt. I think willie henry leaving this year and the rest idk yet

I'm glad that Jake, of all people, is returning. He was excellent in 2015 and should be better this year, assuming we have a good quarterback.

I hereby predict that Taco Charlton will play at least 5 years in the NFL. And by play I mean not on scout teams.

I think his jump next year will lbe immense.

His jump this year was large.

realize that getting rashan gary will make every other d linemans numbers fall off. If he is as dominant as he seems he will basically get every tackle for loss/sack and stop every run up the middle. We are gonna have a better d line next year than any other team in college football.

Charlton almost certainly is drafted because the NFL loves to take raw hyper talented players in hopes they can develop them. Smith has roughly a 0% of being drafted though. Darboh is a toss up but will definitely be signed for a tryout.

I know it was only one game, but if he plays like he did in the bowl game for a good part of next season (looked quick, had good vision, and obviously as powerful as always), he definitely is someone who could be drafted on day 3

What about the 2016 draft? Since no one is leaving early, are there any sure draftees? I think Rudock should get a late look along with maybe Houma, but anyone else?

We graduate 4 offensive linemen. You really don't expect a single one of them to be drafted? They have certainly struggled with consistency (which is kind of understandable given the situation) but I don't think physical talent is really in question for any of them.
