Wolverine spotted in California

Submitted by MGoJoe on

A rare sighting of a protected species; a man camping in the Sierra snaps a photo, catching a glimpse of a wolverine. At first, David Messa wasn’t sure what it was he had captured on camera while on a three-day hike near Lake Spaulding. “Quite a pleasure to see something like that,” Messa told FOX40. “You know, the first day, I actually saw a bald eagle. I thought, well, is the trip gonna get any better than this?”

Ha... Wolverines eat bald eagles for breakfast.

Unless this is a double post from the one we had a few weeks ago that's the second wolverine spotted in California in about a month. Wolverine Comeback?

Article is dated back in June. So it's most likely the same exact sighting that was posted on MGoBlog last month. Although this is pretty cool news, it's old and a quite delayed double post.

He's going there for a faculty position at the new Executive MBA campus in Beverly Hills. Inspired by Coach Hoke, he decided to walk from the UP to the new campus to start at his new job.

I'm in California for a wedding and I only packed Michigan T-shirts to wear around the greater LA area.

Drop by the Cal Yacht Club today. We'll sing The Victors!

Sorry, I have redwoods to demolish in the bay area or I would. (Am clearing for an addition.) Always in blue gear outside, and you’re welcome to join me in Santa Cruz for a cold one afterward.

Enjoy the cooler temperatures than back in the mitten. Who’da thunk, right? “Let’s go to CA in summer to get cool!” /s

It really did at first. Not just the tree but I really love wood, and still bothers me a bit to have use the smaller (12-18in) trees as firewood. Smaller saplings I use for a pergola and trees larger that 24” can be sold for the lumber. Just moved to the Santa Cruz Mountains within the last year. These are “new growth” redwoods. “Old growth” redwoods I have to get a permit for removal, and I have one of those just 8’ from my front door next to the porch. It is over 250ft tall and no plans for that one.

I thought I saw a wolverine today in the Canadian Rockies but when we got closer it was just a porcupine. It was probably just wishful thinking.
