The Wolverine Logo

I posted this question as a comment on another post about a week ago but it was buried.

What are your opionions on the lack of Michigan memorabilia (shirts, hats, etc.) with a Wolverine on them?  The only wolverine I ever see these days is the retro one with the stiff upper lip wearing a hat.  It seems like through the 70's and 80's, the wolverine was a lot more prevelant on Michigan shirts.  What happened!?  I, for one, think the wolverine is awesome and should be more widely used.

To give you an example, the wolverine on top of the block M in my icon photo is along the lines of what I'm talking about.

Spin off question.. Do you own a piece of retro Michigan clothing that you still hold dear because of it's uniqueness?

Navy blue shirt: Michigan football in big letters.  Just underneath is the Big House.  On the back is a back covering Maize block M.  My dad bought the shirt for me while we were at the 1997 Michigan v osu game.  We sat in the fourth row at the 40 yard line  (The Woodson/Boston fight happened right in front of us).  Anyway, for each game day I have at some point in that day worn it as my game day shirt.  It is stained from much chips and salsa amoung other foods.  Holes are very prominent around the collar by my traps.  

So my hope is that soon Harbaugh and team will give me another opportunity to move onto a new championship game day shirt?

But it's wearing a Block "M" Bo-era hat.

And a headset.

And oversized Ray-Ban aviator sunglasses.

And a Blue Sharpie on a Maize lanyard

And below the Blue furry navel, wearing maize khaki's.

Which because they are slightly "flood" length, you see

White socks with Blue stripes.

And Black high-top lineman football shoes

With cleats for deep grass.

Other than that, I don't care.

wish it was on more stuff. On another note: It's a sad state of this blog that every first time poster has to ask fellow users to "go easy on them, etc". It's in almost every 1st post and that is sad, IMO.

I personally love the Wolverine climbing on the M logo. If they started making shirts with that on it again I would buy one in a second. My favorite cup to drink out of:

And if we ever have a mascot it should look similar to the foam wolverine heads they sell. This bad boy cost me $30 back in like 2004. I hate to think what they cost now.

I don't mind more wolverine-logo stuff, but I don't want us to ever wear basketball uniforms that say "WOLVERINES" again.  I can't explain it, but that just looked really bad.

I like the Wolverine logo that has been thrown around for the past couple years. I would like them to incorporate it a little more into the merchandise.

We have one of the best nicknames of any University, and I wouldn't mind highlighting it a bit more than we do. That is one of the reasons why I was a big fan of our Basketball Jerseys in the Tournament last year.

As much as I love our angry weasel of a wolverine, the block M is just so classic. Even with schools with other block Ms or block-shaped first letters, I've always looked at our's as the original.

Here's a hastily-constructed wolverine I made.  The problem is that he obscures the Block M a bit much when you put him on top of it ...

You can try to move him around a little to show the M, but ...

As long as it doesn't show up on any of the unis, or as a mascot (shudder).

As a product of the 80's, I'll only wear a Blue hat with the Maize block M or a Maize hat with the Blue block M.  The latter is for vacations only, of course.

The block M with the MICHIGAN bar is acceptable for decals.

Block lettered MICHIGAN for T-shits and Sweatshirts.
