As I come to realize we will most likely end up with Hoke, I am coming around to him. I will still bitch until he is actually named head coach, at which point I will put my full support behind him, but he is not all bad. That pure desire to want to coach here has to stand for something. But, God, please please please keep and use Denard effectively.

I'm glad we're going for the "not a bad choice" candidate. If his main qualifications are alumnus and guy who will work hard, he's not going to be welcomed with open arms. Seriously, I really would like whoever to succeed, but this is an awful start.

He's pushed for Hoke with the rest of the Detroit sports media for months. This isn't new material. He was there guy long before RR was fired, probably because Hoke's people were the only ones who would talk to them.

"Honestly, not sure why people are freaked about Hoke. You knew it'd be a Michigan guy, and there were only 3. Harb said no. Miles not easy."

I freak out because it did NOT have to be a Michigan guy. That's limiting! Hire Hoke if he's the best man for the job, not because he was the last choice among "Michigsn Men". When DB was at Domino's did he hire people who were "Domino Men"? Or did he hire the best available candidate?

Wojo's argument is that hoke "wants to be here and shouldn't that count for something" and that hiring a big name would have spiked expectations.
IMO- I don't think wanting something means that you are qualified and/or have earned the job. I don't understand how we throw out a coach with a 7-5 record unless it's to make some sort of splash. Tossing away a recruiting class and risking transfers for someone whose plus side is that he "lowers expectations" is insanity. I was ok with the past 3 years because if RR worked out this program had a huge ceiling. I'm unwilling to go through another painful transition for a coach whose ceiling is 2nd or 3rd in the B10 on a regular basis.
