Good Piece....I sure hope the MMB has learned to play the chicken dance song over the last week, or at the very least, the song is played loudly over the PA. How about a chicken dance theme at halftime?

That first sentence basically hits the nail on the head, I would say. I maintain that the Return To Glory is more or less The Path Of Least Resistance, although I am having a difficult time picturing how any sane ND fan would redress a victory over Duke football to seem like it was a glorious victory.
The pick for the Spartans game was pretty funny - can't wait to see Damion O'Maxwell out there for them.

Wojo did get in one deserved dig at Michigan: Michigan fans are upset Notre Dame is downplaying the rivalry, and the hilarious irony is, now they know how Michigan State feels when Michigan pulls the same pretend act on them.
The fact of the matter is that MSU is a rivalry game, and it does matter, even though not to the same degree as Ohio and ND. But beating MSU matters.
It wasgreat to have several rivalry games . . . not just Ohio, but also MSU & ND. The timing was perfect, with ND near the beginning of the season, Ohio at the end, and MSU somewhere in the middle. No longer having ND in September will leave a hole that I'm not sure can be filled. And even if it is filled with a top 20 home and home, the opponent will almost assuredly be far away.
One of the things that makes for many strong rivalries is reasonable geographic proximity. The fact that you can drive to Columbus and E. Lansing and South Bend in several hours makes a difference. Bragging rights matter more when fans of the other teams are all around you.
Losing ND matters to me, and I hope the series comes back, even if it isn't for another 8 years or so.

My wife, a Sparty, has. Considering that Michigan has had its way witn Notre Dame in Ann Arbor for a long time, you can understand why this series is ending.
In two years, Michigan will play for the championship of the West in the non-conference, while facing Utah, Oregon State, UNLV and Brigham Young. That's a lot of Mormon mission work. But with the Catholics taking their game to the ACC, who knows whether we will all miss that old time religion.
Two more games. We know where Michigan is heading. And it isn't dropping games to avoid conflict. You either play to compete or leave the stage. ND has made its choice.
