Wisconsin unveils alternate uniforms for Nebraska game
Not to be outdone by Nebraska's tribute to The Noid of Dominos commercial fame, Wisconsin just unveiled the "feaux-back" uniforms they will wear in Lincoln this fall:

Why is it that each time they announce a new alternate jersey, it instantly becoming breaking news? I mean this as a serious question, and not an attempt to neg the OP.
because its 26 days till kickoff and you need at least 1 day of recovery from the standard "Its _______ What are you drinking?" thread.
Good answer!
W's? We don't need more stinkin' W's.
So they ran out of W's that actually fit on helmets?

I haven't played video games in awhile, so I apologize if this a stupid question, but when did Mario get a boob job?
Sir!
It's going to make the big boys look pregnant.
Also, that last picture looks like the beginning of a website.
I wonder how long it took to design that.
Things I have learned about Adidas and their one time use jerseys:
1. We love colored shoulders, UTL Bumblebee, MSU Bumblebee, Cowboy Classic and This.
2. We love giant letters on the front of uniforms.
At this point the most shocking thing would be having a team wear their standard uniform in a big game. Maybe if we billed it as a throwback........
I personally dont care much about other teams jerseys...and I honestly dont get too upset about UM trying out new looks especially for big games. I have a much bigger concern that Michigan, adidas' largets contract team and (correct me if im wrong) the highest selling team merchandise wise, is being templated.
All adidad uniforms are looking the same...not only in structure but also in creative elements (stripes everywhere, letters, etc.) ... this is one thing that the "THIS IS MICHIGAN" tagline truly supports. We are different and should be treated as such. Imagine an ad agency doing the exact same template for all their brands. They would be fired before the retainer could get signed.
Nike/UA has made some bad designs...but at least they are somewhat unique. I hate to see our team put through a template rather than an original solution.
The current helmet W is call the "Motion W":
The academic W (it is also on the Fieldhouse at Camp Randall) is called The Crest:
The throwback uniforms, as noted above, really are approximations of the old helmet logo, except that in those days (I still think there was some NCAA rule about numbers on helmets; but I've never found it) it was positioned on the front and back and not the sides.
The best Wisconsin helmets ever were the ones with Bucky Badger on the side (on which Bucky is wearing yet another "W" font!);
Their band features about six more kinds of W's:
All of this college football uniform talk is making me dizzy. Too much is being made of the fashion of college football. What happened to the days where uniforms were the last thing on your mind in the offseason?
It's just a money thing which rules all of course combined with today's players liking ugly new uniform designs.
I'm with you. I miss the days where the biggest uniform issue/debate was should we bring the helmet stickers back or not?
This whole thing is madness.
Yep. If the various athletic departments weren't planning on selling boatloads of these disasters to gullible fans with more money than sense, they wouldn't spend 5 minutes fucking around with new designs. The justification "well the players love them!" is just window dressing.
Is it bad that I was a big critic of the road legacy jerseys and I own one?
I know, I have a jersey collecting problem. I'll see you guys on intervention.
The old W was ugly too.
Now awful, but not great by any means. I guess I'm OK with them. Also, obviously Adidas' thing now is just putting a big letter on the front, which I actually like since it's different than the number (obviously) and what we're used to.
I still love M's UTL jersey.
The W is similar to what Wisconsin had on their helmets from 1957-1966. I believe they also wore something similar in another recent retro game.
These jerseys look like they are identifying an element on the periodic table.
Nebraska's font.
the N stands for nowledge.

ouch. seriously do not care for
meh I kinda like em. Better than our clowniforms from last year
they just used Wisconsin's colors. Nebraska's went heavily with black which isn't Nebraska. Yes, we have the blackshirts, which Adidas then ignored when adding all the black everywhere else.
They have a second version to unveil later.

I take back anything bad I've ever said about our alternate jerseys. Those are just awful.
