Wisconsin beats State: College Basketball Open Thread

Submitted by Bambi on

There are a few games going on right now before we play Iowa at 4:30.

The most notable is #4 MSU trailing Wisconsin 41-36 at the half at the Kohl Center. Tum Tum is out for State, who have played 11(!) guys so far in the first half. 4 of them have 2 fouls, the other 7 each have one.

Uconn is also playing Houston currently, and SMU plays Tulane at 3:30.

They'll probably find a way to win, but if they don't, how far do they drop? I know rankings are generally meaningless, but watching MSU drop like a rock should be fun. From 4 to....20 with a loss, 11 with win?

I've had Wisconsin-MSU on for quite a while now - all but about eight or nine of the Badgers' points are the responsibility of three players  - Nigel Hayes, Ethan Happ or Bronson Koenig - but that seems to be similar to the other Wisconsin games I've seen this year. If any one of them is off on a given day, the Badgers are in trouble.

MSU fans complaining about the officiating is always hilarious.  Izzo's whole philosophy is built around hand-checking, grabbing guys' jerseys, going over the back and generally fouling the hell out of everyone, and daring the officials to actually call it.  When the officials actually grow a pair and do so, surprise - they get in foul trouble.
