Wisconsin BBall Postgame Thoughts
can a team get a number 1 seed if they don't win their conference? because i don't think Michigan will win the BIG this year.. indiana right now owns the tiebraker and since we only play wisconsin once they have the tiebraker.
Yes, Big Ten will probably get two. And this Wisconsin team is going to lose a few games because their luck cannot hold. And we'll beat Indiana in Crisler and MSU in Crisler. Win Tuesday and the title is ours, basically. If we don't, a share is super reasonable.
They're much worse on the road. They'll drop a game or two that they should win easily. The title will be UM, IU, OSU or MSU. Everyone else is an obstacle.
And conferences get 2 1 seeds all the time (ACC, Big East, Fab Five and IU in 1993). Even if it's just one from the B1G, it could easily go to the tournament winner, not regular season. It will be fine.
Moeller v. Excalibur Restaurant -- Fight!
There is no tie-breaker for the Big10 title. Big10 will get 2 one seeds almost certainly, likely us and Indiana. Our schedule left is very favourable. It is going to be nearly impossible for the committee to forget the Kansas loss to Duke or Miami losing to Florida Golf Coast (though I think Duke destroys them and ends any thought of them being a 1 seed anyway. There NC St. and Duke wins have major astericks on them).

Burke's time management with the clock running down is our kryptonite. How many possessions did we blow down the stretch on a poor or rushed shot? It's not a five second shot clock...
And man do we get away with having an incredibly questionable inside presence.
Our best low-post player (Morgan) is injured. Don't forget that. McGary is starting to add a J which is awesome, but Morgan's the only guy who can score with his back to the basket.
...with his back to the basket. He's improved, but I wouldn't exactly call him a go-to threat offensively.
alright, no point in finger pointing. It's time to move on and go to Lansing to win.
You would think the Evan Turner shot would have taught him two things. Guard the inbound man and don't let someone run into that shot. You have a guy at midcourt just playing free safety to take that away. Unreal!
Cover the inbound passer. Foul when they catch it. DEATH TO NETS.
I think I'm going on a 30 mile run after this one
The whole game... Too much doubling ball carries at the top and wings leaving guys wide open for threes .. no hard aggression inside leading to missed layups. Two points in OT.
Michigan Stadium UTL 9/10/11 -- Greatest moment of my sports life.
Stauskas and GR3 have 5 and 4 points today, but as bad as that - unfortunately this loss goes right on the coaches. 2.4 seconds is a ton of time & yeah half court shots rarely go in - but NO EXCUSE to even allow a shot. We had 2 fouls to give .... this just ruins the day!
Go Blue!
No place on earth I'd rather be on a football Saturday than Michigan Stadium !
Sorry I know some hate blaming refs, but they need held accountable. If the ref gets back on Mitch's steal he sees/hears him getting hammered. If the refs aren't going to follow the rules then get them off the court and go with Open Gym rules.
Whatever. Shoddy officiating and it still took Ben Brust having a horseshoe up his ass to win the game.
Also re: last shot of regulation, LeVert was right in his face and Brust heaved up a complete prayer. Don't argue to foul, Brust will never hit anything similar to that again in his life. Shit happens.
This team loses its shit with under 2 to go. That's on the coaching staff.
"Michigan Defense" is dominating everything, in every aspect of life. That's a rough definition.

Can't go 1-3 in this stretch and not be looking up big time in the standings. MSU won up there, and we just pissed it away. Another horrible end of half shot that we were lucky to have go down. It's not coincidence anymore; it's a problem getting good plays off after timeouts at the end of halves. Then we decide to replay Ohio State all over again with the end of regulation defense. Though if Dakich was right (it would have been the first time all game) and Beilein was yelling foul I don't know what the players were thinking. They call shooting on Wisconsin on our last shot they can lose the game; if they do on us at worst he has to hit 3 to tie (unless you pussy foul on that last shot). And what, two missed lay-ups by Burke and one by McGary down the stretch? Gave this one away. First bad loss of the season.
It all gets fixed by a win on Tuesday. But if not (and if we can't beat Wisconsin I don't know why we'd be favored against MSU) we're in some trouble.

Take a deep breath, buddy. Everything is going to be just fine.

Belief is a great recruiter, not a very good in-game coach. Bad decisions throughout the game. Bad defense always.
Tenim un nom el sap tothom. Barca, Barca, BAAARCA!
players have to increase their basketball IQ. Instincts have to kick in as ball player when coaching goes awry. U see it on offense but rarely on defense. players dont wanna foul even it makes sense unless a coach tells them to.

Come on, this is just absurd. So those WVU teams that went to the Elite Eight and Sweet 16 were loaded with good recruits?
Nice broad-brush comment that is completely meaningless. We had a lot of good defensive stops today during key junctures of the game. Have you also noticed that we're playing with a roster littered with freshmen and sophomores? They're still learning how to play defense at this level. I think you're constipated and need to get that turd out of your system ASAP.
Sparty on Tuesday. Michigan hasn't lost two in a row.

"Why is Mitch getting better while Stauskus and GR3 fading into oblivion?"
Mental toughness not there for S. adn GR3.
Or maybe it has to do with them playing 30-40 minutes a night all season and having tired legs at this point, and McGary, who's only been playing 15-20 minutes most games, still having his legs.
Physicality..
Big 10 is rough and tumble and Stauk and GRIII (esp. the latter) have not shown the ability to rebound from a punch in the face. McGrary is built for this.
And when we play as a team, when the old season is over, you and I know.. it's gonna be Michigan again. Michigan.
stupid stupid stupid stupid dumb. No reason we should have lost that game. Wisconsin honestly sickens me. I don't knw where they all their luck from. Dammit all to hell.
FUCK GOD DAMN SHIT NO GO GOOD THINGS FUUUCK.
That said, is it possible that we still move up after having lost this game? Barring (another) unlikely Duke implosion tomorrow, they'll probably slide up to #1. Everyone else around us also lost, and in much uglier fashion than overtime on the road.

last 6 min of reg and OT. If our smarts and toughness don't improve, our run will be very short in the NCAA tourney.

Fouls, when we had so many to give at end of regulation?

He is the type of player that can carry a team on his back and make a run and in game/tournament.
But, this team is more balanced with him not on the floor. Everyone gets involved more when they are not standing around admiring how great Burke is.
If Burke has the ball with 10 seconds on the shot clock, everyone stands still.

thats not treys fault thats the players around him. he will give up the ball and has done so willingly.
Freshmen gonna be Freshmen is all I gotta say.
While I love watching Michigan, I hate watching college basketball.
If someone were to ask me, "TheLastHoke, why do you hate college basketball with the fury of a hundred thousand thunderbolts hurled by Jupiter himself?" I would hand them a tape of this game, or the Wisconsin - Michigan State game from earlier this year.
If the refs called every single game like that, Wisconsin would win 10 consecutive ugly basketball national championships.
They rank only slightly above that recent high school basketball team that went up by 2 early in the second half and then refused to shoot for the rest of the game, stalling their way to victory.

I've said it everytime I see him on the floor this entire season. the majority of mistakes made on the floor when he's in are because of him and completely on him. That should have been a foul at the end and he did nothing. This has been going on all season, but hopefully culminated with this failure at halfcourt.
He should have redshirted.
