Wings Take a Bite Out of the Big Apple
In the NHL tonight's scene was New York City for a good old Original Six matchup between the Red Wings and the Rangers! New York was held to only 1 goal with backup goalie Jimmy Howard in net for the Wings. The Rangers struck early in the 1st to take the 1-0 lead until the Wings answered in the 2nd to tie it at 1-1 then late in the 3rd, Cleary put it past Lundqvist to make it 2-1 then late at the end of the 3rd, Draper empty netted the game winner to put the Rangers away. The Wings I thought looked good tonight had a good amount of shots on Lundqvist but New York also showed shooting ability making it a 31-29 ratio (Detroit). A great game to watch and also a penalty shot was taken in this game by Ryan Callahan but was stoned by a spread save by Howard to keep it only 1-0. Wings win 3-1. The goals for tonights game were made by
Detroit: Pavel Datsyuk (11:39-2nd)
Detroit: Danny Cleary (17:57-3rd)
Detroit: Kris Draper (19:53-3rd)
New York: Bryan Boyle (15:56-1st)

Thanks for the update, I guess.

Where did this Draper scoring surge come from? He's always been one of my favorites over the years. I admire his relentless hard work and hussle.

Empty netter for Drapes tonight.

Some good news is always appreciated. Your text "early in the 3rd, Cleary put it past Lundqvist to make it 2-1" doesn't really match the goal summary: "Detroit: Danny Cleary (17:57-3rd)".

That was my bad! Thanks for pointing that out.

Go Wings!
minor note: Cleary with the game winner, not Draper. But you knew that.

But what was with the Rangers goal that looked like it went in fine but wasn't counted or even taken a look at? Kind of like the one the Wings got a couple games ago where nobody noticed it in the net for a while and it was reviewed and discounted because of the "Intent to blow the whistle" but this one wasn't even looked at?

They showed the replay. It was on the outside of the net. But you are right. It certainly looked like it was in the net when I saw it during game play.

So I lived in New York in 2007-2008, and the wings didn't play one game at any of the three NY-area teams. Hell, they hardly played at all on the east coast. Now that I moved away, they play all three. NHL scheduling bastards.

Sat through the Devils game, which was exasperating. Forgot about the Rangers game - caught the last ten minutes - just enough time to see them gack it away.
Ah, schadenfreude. It's what's for dinner.
LOVE Jimmy Howard's helmet! Glad to see the youngun is stepping up. Now all we need is our other 2 lines back off the IR...
