Wimbledon Open Thread

Novak vs Roger, which should be an epic match of a powerful #1 and a seasoned grass veteran. Hard to say who has the upper edge today. Djoker is #1 in the world, but Federer has been playing lights out this tournament. Warming up now. Happy Sunday, all!

of either guy. I root for Nadal because there really isn't anyone that I like that is actually good anymore. I was a huge fan of Andy Roddick and James Blake and it's a shame neither of them could get over the hump to become great. If Roddick wouldn't have had to deal with Federer in his career, I think he would have 4-5 majors instead of 1.

and especially not Roddick, who always had an incredibly arrogant attitude in every press conference he was in. Reminds me of a guy that thought he was smarter or cooler than anyone else.

Just thought i would add that since this is a trend of who we are not fans of.

I am really sick of Djokovic. It's fun watching his losing, which obviously does not occur often. I love that he has yet to win Roland Garros. I'm sure once he beat Nadal in Paris, he was thinking, "Finally I am going to win this fucking tournament!"

and then Stan the Man said "no way, fool."

The mental lapse after breaking Djoker and forehand errors are vintage old late career Federer struggle city... Ugh Only makes Serena's accomplishments that much more impressive at her age... Granted women's sports competition lol..

Outside of Serena who just toys with Sharapova and sharapova... The rest are inconsistent as fuck or young. Azarenka and Ivanovic are all over the place. Stevens' early success got to her head. Li retired or had a kid I think? Oh and Venus age and disease makes her a nonfactor

Well, it's not really the age thing. It's more the level of talent that the greats are playing these days. Serena, Maria, and the big four for the men are playing, for the most part part, a bunch of no ones. Obviously there are some good players here and there, like Stan Wawrinka and some others, but these people are still winning because no one else is stepping up. Serena is built like a man anyway, so that is why she barely loses.

How is she built like a man? Men have big boobs and thick ass, thighs, and hips? Is it because she has muscles? Because if that's the case I know a lot of guys who aren't built like men, despite their penises telling them otherwise.

She's built like a world-class athlete - strong and fit.

Smh. Fed just doesn't have that last oomph on his forehand anymore... Djoker wouldn't be able to run that back if Fed was 27...

Federer had his shot to take control after his break in the 1st set. He failed to do so. Since then Djokovic has been slightly better.

I hope I'm wrong, because I do enjoy watching Federer play, but I think the days of Federer winning Grand Slam events are past him.

Pretty sure I would never get a racket on a serve, much less return one, by these guys.  A friend of mine at U-M played tennis at Catholic Central, and he was pretty good (may have been a state champion or runner-up, can't recall).  His legit first serve was too hard for me, and his second serve was like some wiffleball pitch, moving all over the place.  So, he would just run me all over the court for a few strokes and then crush my soul.

Also, I don't get the whole "COME ON" shout that so many tennis players do. I know it's a tennis thing now, but I wonder where and when it started. It's extremely overdone, IMO.
