Wilson, Bolden, and Ringer are enrolled for Winter 2012

There are listings for a Jarrod Arthur Lee WilsonJoseph Daniel Bolden and Kaleb Stefon Ringer in Michigan's online directory of current students.

Those first and last names match three verbal commitments to Michigan, although a school spokesman said Thursday the program likely will not verify they are with the team until the start of winter classes.

Jarrod Wilson is a four-star safety from Butchel High School in Akron, Ohio; Joe Bolden is a four-star linebacker from Colerain High School in Cincinnati, Ohio; and Kaleb Ringer is a three-star linebacker from Northmont High School in Clayton, Ohio.

Unless I am totally misremembering, Rivals had been reporting that these three would enroll early for a while now.  Do you actually belong to a paysite?

I believe he was at least to a couple of sites.  Spent most of his senior year injured and I think that is responsible for his stock falling.  He and Bolden could both have the size and head on his shoulders to step into the lineup immediately.

I thought I heard these guys will be able to participate in the bowl practices.  Whether that is true or not, they could both be right on Desmond Morgan's tail for playing time next year.

He does not have elite athleticism. Listen, I'm cheering for the kid, but he seemed to win the position by defaut this year. Logic says he will be better in year #2, and if he out performs our incoming studs at LB next year then so be it. Regardless of age or class, I think we should have our eyes on a BCS Championship next year and to get there we will need improved play out of whoever is in that position.

as a freshman. I'm betting he relishes competition, he'll take your elite athleticism and raise you one hard work. Competition will improve all of them. We have those coach fellows to decide these things. In the meantime, just keep bagging on him.

Over the years UM has had numerous linebackers without "great" athleticism that turned out to be all conference and even all-americans. Knowing how to play and where to go is even more important than sheer athleticism, else Al Davis would have ruled the NFL draft.

Also, Morgan is not a bad athlete.  The kid has decent speed and agility for someone who will likely end up as a MIKE.  As he continues to improve, he will appear more athletic on the field by reacting faster to plays.  He's a smart kid who will continue to learn from Smith and Mattison.

I'm not stupid. I wouldn't just want an athletic kid on the field that doesn't know what the hell he's doing. What I'm saying is if we can get more athleticism out of our outside linebackers coupled with the obvious heads up/disciplined/sound technique play it would be great. I think the coaching staff feels the same way otherwise we would not be signing as many LBs in the class. If Morgan is that guy then I'm on board, but I just don't see it at this stage. Just because he started as a true Freshman it means nothing to me, and it doesnt automatically make him better in his second year. I would be the first to admit though that I screamed the same thing about Kovacs and was completely WRONG.

I think you probably overestimate the difference in athletic ability between Morgan and Ross. Neither of them probably have elite measurables, however both are lauded for their instincts, toughness and smarts. They are similar players with Morgan having a year under  his belt and a little more size, is probably not going to be unseated as a starter anytime soon.

This year Morgan is atop the depth chart over Herron, Hawthorne, Mike Jones and Antonio Poole, all of whom are probably more athletic in you eyes.

Here is the skinny on Ross from Scout

Measureables are not super, but football smarts, toughness and fundamentals are

I wouldn't exactly say you're cheering for the kid if you're hoping he gets supplanted.  But either way, our options at WILL next year will be A) a sophomore who started almost every game at the spot who, according to you (and others, admittedly) lacks elite athleticism, B) a guy who got benched for the guy in option A (Brandin Hawthorne), or C) one of a couple highly rated true freshmen.

Now, what I know with high certainty is that whoever wins will be a good linebacker.  That's good news.  However, Morgan looked good as a true freshman, especially as the year went on, and his first full off-season with the coaching staff and S&C program will likely go a long way.  James Ross would probably beat him in the 40 any day of the week and that might never change.  What Morgan has over Ross right now is a full year of on-field experience and coaching, a firm grasp of the defensive playbook, and about 15 extra pounds.  I think I'd be more comfortable with him on the field than anyone else next fall.

Wilson and Bolden are going to be really good ones at U-M. Wilson, for some reason, doesn't seem to be generating the buzz of other recruits, but I see him becoming our best FS since Adams.

Wilson has been my favorite recruit since he came on our radar. I can't wait for him to get on the field. I think he'll be a great safety for us. I think the fact that he hasn't garnered the attention that he should is because our class has a lot of a depth. Furthermore, he's not local, nor did he ever have interest in Ohio.

So they enrolled early. Obviously heard about the, oh, well, what the guy up there said about doobies and stuff. Ahem, note that I am too old to know about that stuff.

Jarrod Wilson could be playing right away! Wish I could say the same for our group of LBs coming in, but our upper classmen are looking to be strong next year!!

I still wonder what these LBs coming in, and the starting 3 we have now, does for Cam Gordon. There was a lot of hype about him coming into this year, and I don't see him overtaking Jake Ryan's starting spot.

I would love to hear the reason why Cam never saw the field other than special teams.  I know Ryan was the starter, but Cam never even came in as a sub, even when Beyer was having some freshman moments.  He was recovered from his back injury to be able to play special teams.

They coaching staff made it sound like Cam was going to be a really good player coming out of spring ball.

2012 starters will be determined by competition in spring practice and summer workouts, not past performance.  After the 2009 season, who would have thought Denard would start over Tate in 2010.

Cool. Hopefully that they can make the team, everything goes well, and I can see them in the Spring Game.

Every MGoBlogger that lives in Michigan, PLEASE, try to make the Spring Game. Not only to see Team 133, but Michigan is playing ohio in lacrosse at 10AM in Michigan Stadium before the Spring Game, and let's try to set the world record for attendance at a lacrosse game.

Glad to hear that these young men are now enrolled and will get every opportunity to compete for playing time.  The LB corps is going to be deep and talented.  I am also very pleased that we are now starting to bring in the type of talent at the safety position that will add depth in the secondary.

So will Blake Countess be wearing the #2 starting next year?

Congrats to Ringer, Bolden and Wilson, three smart Ohio boys. As for who will contribute we will have to wait and see. Stars mean nothing once they get on campus. You don't never not know who will capable of contributing early.

Looking at the class of 2010; the most productive players so far are a couple of *** Jake Ryan and Jibreel Black, and Courtney Avery, while some **** like Richard Ash, Marvin Robinson, Kenny Wilkins, have yet to make their mark. Other **** have already flamed out; such as Demar Dorsey and Cullen Christian
