MSU Police Chief Jim Dunlap said ski masks were not present. He DID, however, say this: “Only one individual was wearing anything that you could remotely say was similar to a ski mask, and it was an open-face mask, similar to a knit hood. … When I think of a ski-mask, I think of the two holes cut out for the eyes, and that’s not what this was.” In the chaos of 12 guys storming a potluck dinner in a dormitory, an open-face knit hood could very easily be misconstrued as a ski mask. As it was noted several times by the media the assailants allegedly wore ski masks, I don't see the harm in making what was clearly a joke at Sparty's expense. Unless you took it literally and thought this guy was saying Gholston TRULY de-committed because they didn't have his size of ski mask, which would make you the complete moron. Seriously, I hope you got a sense of humor for the holidays, or a ticket back to MLive or wherever the hell it is you came from.

It sounds to me like a balaclava! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balaclava_(clothing) I think it is so fabulous -- beyond fabulous, really -- that we finally have a thread where a guy like me can kick back and have a good discussion about MSU assault-wear. I was thinking, as I did my holiday shopping, that I haven't a thing to wear on my next trip to East Lansing, if there is a large-scale assault. It's just so hard to find a good, comfortable balaclava that makes you feel really good about an assault that might turn into an aggravated battery.

the investigation concluded there was one guy in a knit hat with "handle-bars", not a group of men with ski masks as initially accused (by the "witnesses"). Keep in mind the witnesses were a rival frat and obviously painted a much more violent picture of what happened. I am NOT saying it was OK - even being there shows terrible judgment and every player should be disciplined (as they were) - but give me a break, 15 football players beating people up but only one guy gets hurt? Nothing about that makes sense. It isn't fair (though the favor would probably be returned your way, admittedly) to say it was some kind of massacre...it clearly was not what the press made it out to be. It's slanderous and offensive, though I agree that we deserve it given off-the-field troubles we've had in the past and the fact the players were even involved in something like this.

and yet all the so-called "pundits" thought that MSU dominated instate recruiting. however, without gholston, their class is nothing.

Any corroborating reports? In the pictures I've seen Gholston's green and white getup rivals that of Johnny Spirit. Considering that and the timing, this is all pretty crazy. Oh, Nick Saban...

Saban is building a powerhouse especially if they win the title this year. Make no mistake we will dethrone Alabama in at least two years. I think that fundamentally RichRod is a better coach than Saban where Saban is the better recruiter by a close margin. .....I just can't wait till we reach our potential and start winning NC's again, WITH RICH ROD

What do you mean by "at least two years"? Do you mean two years+ (like an indefinite amount of time)? Or - at most two years? I am not trying to be a jerk, but I am trying to gauge your prediction.
