Will we see Fitz @ PSU
October 26th, 2010 at 3:04 PM ^
No. With Shaw hopefully back healthy and an increasing work load for Hopkins there don't seem to be a ton of extra carries laying around. And even if there were, until people start using the words 100% healthy when talking about Fitz I think it probably is a good idea to assume he isn't going to see a whole lot of action.
Excited about him though if he can ever get healthy.
October 26th, 2010 at 3:18 PM ^
You're probably dead on about this one. I do like what Hopkins has been doing though. As long as he can protect the ball, I'm a happy camper.
EDIT: Who negs for a comment like this and doesn't even write a response?
October 26th, 2010 at 3:34 PM ^
I dunno, man, that was quite a douchey comment you made by making fun of Hopkins and campers...
October 26th, 2010 at 3:47 PM ^
Rich seems less sure (@~3:00): Thanks Boyz
"I'd like to get some more people involved." "...we're hoping to get Fitz Tousaint. If Fitz Tousaint can be healthy, we'll get him in the mix as well."
Seems less optimistic about Mike Cox who's been healthy.
October 26th, 2010 at 3:52 PM ^
Someone with some actual insight.
This board has turned into a bunch of douchey tool bags. Can't even start a discussion topic without half the posters saying something irrelevant or inflammatory.
October 26th, 2010 at 4:16 PM ^
Maybe you should try another message board, then.
October 26th, 2010 at 4:16 PM ^
Which is odd, because you certainly know how to engender goodwill with statements like that.
October 26th, 2010 at 4:17 PM ^
This board has turned into a bunch of douchey tool bags.
You mean like the kind of people who call other people "douchey tool bags?"
October 26th, 2010 at 5:12 PM ^
with the ignoramous comments pal. You always have something idiotic to say. Have you ever thought maybe not to interject your idiocy into every single post? Probably not, because all I see are ridiculously pointless and inflammatory comments by you.
The ape comments and donkey comments were obviously a JOKE playing on what coaches said about him earlier. Anyone who can't see that is....well I will hold onto my comment.
And the beef with "Richie", seriously? Get over it. Sorry, next time I will write "Coach Rod". Wow. Sensitive Sallys.
October 26th, 2010 at 6:54 PM ^
First, you're using the words "thrice" and "ignoramus" incorrectly. I do not think they mean what you think they mean.
Second:
October 27th, 2010 at 12:12 PM ^
Quit being such a jabroni!
October 27th, 2010 at 3:54 PM ^
Jabroni. Cool word.
October 26th, 2010 at 4:53 PM ^
How are we supposed to take you seriously when you call our coach "Richie" and say things like "speed of a raped ape" and "strength of thrice donkeys"?
October 26th, 2010 at 10:02 PM ^
We actually tolerate most posters/bloggers pretty well.
But when you start calling others "douchey tool bags" our tolerance wanes and the negs come out to play.
Stick to facts/opinions with support. Stop the douchey name calling. The negs will go away.
... and now back to our original show...
October 26th, 2010 at 10:43 PM ^
While I agree that the vacuous posts are annoying, I don't understand the inclination to engage rather than move on. Let natural selection do its thing. By now, most posters can tell by the thread title whether or not they want to click and read. Responding, arguing and indulging the name-calling waste more time than clicking <back>.
Aside from being somewhat annoyed by uninformative or uninteresting posts that we are not compelled to read, what is the issue? Bandwidth?
Solution?
Perhaps there can be some voting mechanism that either deletes a thread or sends it to the back page after an arbitrary number of negative votes?
October 26th, 2010 at 9:20 PM ^
I don't understand why Fitz is not getting surgery to repair the rotator if the injury is keeping him out this long. When I hear rotator I think of throwing or overhead motion more likely to keep out a QB. Can somebody help me out?
October 26th, 2010 at 3:04 PM ^
Long Answer: Yes, on the sidelines
October 26th, 2010 at 3:29 PM ^
for the IU game, the travel squad had 4 rbs (smith, jones, cox and hopkins) and 1 fb. with shaw in healthy, i am guessing that jones gets left home as does an semi-healthy Fitz.
October 26th, 2010 at 3:04 PM ^
Your kidding right?
October 26th, 2010 at 3:06 PM ^
AND he's only had a couple of carries. I am going to say we are not going to see him on the field (although I want to) until Purdue and I am going to go bold and say he finshes the year with 350 rushing yards.
October 26th, 2010 at 3:14 PM ^
I know he has already redshirted. Can he get a medical redshirt too and get another year of elgibility?
October 26th, 2010 at 3:20 PM ^
Didn't he redshirt last year too? What's the rule on this?
October 26th, 2010 at 3:55 PM ^
Just look at Jordan Shipley
October 26th, 2010 at 3:20 PM ^
No. You have five years to play four. A medical redshirt is a redshirt, not its own category of eligibility; cases like Jason White at Oklahoma are exceptions to the rule in which the player is unable to perform in more than 30% of the season twice.
If Fitz had played as a true freshman, and he couldn't play any more this year because of the shoulder, then Michigan could apply him for a medical redshirt. But he redshirted.
October 26th, 2010 at 6:50 PM ^
He can absolutely get a medical waiver/redshirt for this year if fate continues to destroy his body at every available opportunity.
October 26th, 2010 at 3:15 PM ^
He is sorta immortalized after that long run against BG...and then followup touchdown.
I know I cannot expect that every time he touches the ball...but...for now, I sort do
October 26th, 2010 at 3:21 PM ^
Please never refer to Rich Rodriguez as "Richie" again.
October 26th, 2010 at 3:25 PM ^
Seconded.
October 26th, 2010 at 4:18 PM ^
Thirded
October 26th, 2010 at 3:44 PM ^
raped apes. I mean, really?
October 26th, 2010 at 4:20 PM ^
And how are raped apes "speedy?" I know there's an urban dictionary entry that matches romeyjdogg's usage, but I fail to see the logic. I would think that an ape who has just been raped would be kind of stricken and depressed, and would therefore sort of mope around.
October 26th, 2010 at 4:49 PM ^
Or beat the shit out of whatever raped it.
Aka: go apeshit... sorry for the weak attempt at humor.
October 26th, 2010 at 6:00 PM ^
Raped ape,now there is a phrase from days gone by,not sure if I know anyone that has been near enough... well... to put a clock on said ape. Witness to that might leave one with a feeling of disquietude.
October 26th, 2010 at 6:56 PM ^
I think that's the one that smokes and drinks to mask its pain.
October 27th, 2010 at 3:45 AM ^
Was I wrong to assume that "speed of a raped ape" meant he was slow? Because I can't envision a scenario in which a ape that was just raped would be fast. Although that does kind of rhyme. Oh, I guess an ape that was just raped would be fast if it had somehow disengaged itself post-raping (raped is the past tense here so it would have had to have been being held or something) from whatever was raping said ape.
October 26th, 2010 at 4:23 PM ^
Also, the OP misused the word "thrice."
October 26th, 2010 at 3:26 PM ^
Smith is the starter, Shaw is the next guy, and Hopkins is the next guy. Fitz is the guy behind the guy behind the guy behind the guy. Getting carries for him is the last thing on RR's mind, which is why I think he made a point of saying "not sure if he'll get on the field" for PSU (paraphrased)
Fitz may be great, I have no idea. Does anyone? I want a healthy Shaw to rip one off down the middle for 60 yards. I want reliable Smith to do his thing behind the earth-shaking blocks of the OL. And I want to see Hopkins from I-form. Fitz is really a next year thing, unless one (or probably two) of those guys goes down
October 26th, 2010 at 3:32 PM ^
on RR's mind, because he has made mention of how they want to work him into the rotation when he is healthy. We don't know if he's great, but we do know he's had 2 carries so far, 1- for 60+ yrds and the next for a TD.
October 26th, 2010 at 3:51 PM ^
Shaw is the starter, not Smith. At least that's what I recall from the non-conference schedule before Shaw's injury. I'd like to see Hopkins get his ovn series to see more of what he can do.
Glad Shaw is back, and looking for 250+ on the ground against a very un-PSU-like PSU defense. Denard gets 150+ of that.
October 26th, 2010 at 4:32 PM ^
I like Fitz as much as the next guy, but we've barely seen him. It seems like a lot of us want to watch him play because he had one good run. Reminds me of Vinopal's INT.
Still love him, but he doesn't have the data to prove anything.
October 26th, 2010 at 4:49 PM ^
He's 5'9", 205 lbs and ran the 100 m in 10.6 seconds. He was a four-star with a jaw-dropping highlight tape coming out of hs and had a load of hype in camp.
Sounds a lot better than a 5'6" 180 lb guy with average speed who can catch passes but fails to EVER get yards after contact.
October 26th, 2010 at 4:54 PM ^
can definitely change that equation. they might be offsetting in this case, but compared to Hopkins or Shaw, you might be surprised at Tous' lack of speed.
October 26th, 2010 at 6:20 PM ^
I think people want to see fitz because coming out of camp he seemed to be the rb with the most positive reviews. Of course we want him healthy and on the field if that is in fact the case. That's not a knock on the other guys. Thats wanting your best possible team on the field. I gotta say, the very brief glimpse we got of him looked damn good especially if you consider that he was still hampered by the hammy...
October 26th, 2010 at 4:43 PM ^
Surprised if Smith gets a lion's share of the carries. I think we'll see him on third down and he'll catch a few passed. but Shaw/Hopkins are much better as running backs. This could really be a sweet thunder/lightning combo with Hopkins wearing down linebackers and lineman with puniching runs and Shaw gashing them with his speed and jukes for big gains.
Smith is a better blocker and receiver and will still play in important role, but he is at best our third rb.
October 26th, 2010 at 6:47 PM ^
Fitz was not "the guy behind the guy behind the guy behind the guy." He was running with the 1s, dragging Troy for 5 extra yards in one clip. When Fitz is healthy he will consistently be a top 3 RB for us. He won't be a starter this year given his injuries, but he has the talent and unique skills to be top 3. Just ask Fred Jackson.
October 26th, 2010 at 3:29 PM ^
Sounds like a no go on Fitz, I personally would like to see Shaw serve up a nice big plate of fuck you to Penn St. Hopefully Denard serves up an entire buffet full of it
October 26th, 2010 at 5:08 PM ^
I personally would like to see Shaw serve up a nice big plate of fuck you to Penn St.
Shouldn't PSU be angrier at Shaw than vice versa?
October 26th, 2010 at 3:30 PM ^
but i hate OP's nickname attack and terrible metaphors.
October 26th, 2010 at 3:36 PM ^
Okay? The metaphors were joking around with what coach Jackson said about Fitz.
Nice comment, very helpful. Go away.
October 26th, 2010 at 4:22 PM ^
you are right. i will give you some constructive criticism though. first, this is probably not really post-worthy, but dumber things have been posted so whatever. second, the phrase "see him" is pretty vague, so you might be better saying "will Fitz get any carries?" or "will Fitz make the travel squad?" third, why don't you provide a link or embed of this highlight video you keep watching and state what Fitz does better than the current guys? fourth - a raped ape - i am not sure i really need to address this one, the same goes for thrice donkeys. also, questions end in question marks.
a rewrite:
From RR's presser today, doesn't sound like we are getting a healthy fitz. From watching his highlight reel (link, embed) he really does seem to have more speed than Smith and more shiftiness than Shaw and could really pose some matchup problems with PSU's injured LB unit. Does anyone have an info beyond the injury report that would indicate if we will see him at 100% anytime soon?
