Will There Be a Public Practice?

Submitted by BursleyHall82 on

Forgive me if this has been asked and answered, but is there any speculation on whether Harbaugh will have an open-to-the-public practice at the Big House, like Hoke did last year?

Last year's event was both wonderful and depressing. It was wonderful to spend a hot summer evening at the stadium, but it was depressing to have it confirmed that our offense was going to be reeeeeeeally, reeeeeeeally bad.

I'm kind of doubting Harbaugh will do this, but any insights from the board? Did he ever have a public practice at Stanford?

If you remember, that was done at a time when ticket sales were looking grim. It was completely out of character for the program and the coach, which otherwise played everything close to the vest.

So without ticket sales being a concern this year, it seems unlikely.

I like to call it 'watch from the Stadium Blvd bridge sidewalk'.

Seriously though, I only tried that one time last August while going for a walk and was told to move along after a few minutes by a guy down near the practice field.

As much as I'm thirsty for more football, I don't know that I want valuable practice time opened for public consumption. If it's innocuous drills then I suppose it's harmless but then who would want to watch? But if it's running through plays or a full on scrimmage, I'd prefer that other teams not see what we've got cooking.
