Will Taylor, Carter and Countess commits impact McClure decision?

Submitted by NYCJHGoblue on

I know that Stefan is very interested in Michigan but I couldn't help but wonder if the recent commitments by Blake Countess, Tamani Carter, and Raymon Taylor will have an impact on his recruitment. We also have Greg Brown and Delonte Hollowell as cornerback commits.  Seems like a lot of CBs! Taylor, Countess and McClure are probably the best of the group and seem like true competitors that would welcome the competition. Any insight TomVH, DGDestroys, others? Thanks in advance. Perhaps I am off base for my concern. I would really like McClure to be Blue on Feb 2nd!

It seems like this staff might be projecting possible moves to safety for a couple of the guys.   Maybe that is one factor in the large numbers.

The general opinion is that McClure is deciding between UCLA and Cal (distance factor). Michigan still has a chance, especially with Hoke going for an in-home visit on Monday; but the Cal schools are the probable leaders right now.

Not having a DB coach probably hurts his recruitment too, as that's who Stefan would be spending most of his time with.

Scout has Raven listed as visiting this weekend.  Not sure how accurate that is given the info that he may cancel to visit Bama.

I would love to snag Raven, I think he's extremely underrated and has great size and speed.  He would be a perfect candidate for safety.

It's kind of unfortunate, because looking back, I'm sure most of us would rather have Raven or McClure over Carter and maybe (?) Taylor, but it probably will influence their decision. I'm not optimistic about either of those guys playing for us next year.

its just the game you play with recruiting. its always a risk to lose out on kids based on signing others, but if you hold off then you may lose them all.

not that its real or anything but just playing ncaa11 makes u think the same way!

so yeah its a tough pill to swallow thinking that had we held back on a few of the guys we have signed already that we couldve landed better players. but i think the mantra at this point in the game needs to simply be "at least we are getting good players vs no players"

We have a lot of depth now at DB I would much rather spend what few scholarships we have left, once Bryant, Clark and Willinigham commit, on some other positions like TE, DT or OL. Maybe Barnett, Cooper and Fisher.

Im prettu sure Brown is already enrolled. Could be wrong. Hollowell is 100% as far as I know. What is Blake's status? He still thinking about PSU? I heard he just wants a confirmation from the current coaches that he is still wanted, that sound about right?

Have the coaches contacted any bigger names?

I was wishfully thinking that since we got Mattison he might try to talk to Curtis Grant or someone of that caliber and convince them to go blue. It made sense in my head, Grant is from virginia, probably a ravens fan, Mattison calls up "Hey Curtis, would you like to be Ray Lewis 2.0" Curtis, "Hell yes, im comitted!" I'm sure I'm not the only one that has imagined this.
