Has there ever been a 5 star punter before? I figured the best punters would earn 3 stars, so I was surprised to see a 4 star punter, although this is from ESPN anyways. Does Indiana have any good Hagerup lines we can borrow?

We can hopefully look forward to 4 more years of quality punting, and 4 more years of not worrying about recruiting a punter. It's a win all the way around.

Things are setting up quite nicely, other recruits become more interested just by virtue of seeing others committing right after a visit. The combination of 4-0 and a much improved stadium atmosphere because of the boxes, has payed dividends for us on game day with regards to recruiting.

Looks like Rod takes it seriously, and for ggod reason. Zoltan's punting yesterday, as Brian's post today details, played a huge role in field position. All hail, punters!

Maybe someone's mentioned it and I missed it, but the Indiana punter is a Hagerup. Looks like he must be Will's older brother. Don't you love families of great punters?

I was looking at punters a little and espn and rivals only rank them as kickers. And neither says a whole lot about Hagerup other than that he's one of the best. But rated as 3/4/5th. Ok. He's one of the best kickers. What about punting? Is he the best regarded punter? How much better is he than Sadler (who would have committed had he an offer from M, if I remember correctly)? I would imagine he is better (significantly) as it seems that Tom had said RR was chasing him even though Sadler was asking for an offer so he could commit.

Here's an article from back in March. It references the rankings of Chris Sailer and Jamie Kohl who are kind of the kicking gurus. At the very end:
One of the nation's elite punters, Hagerup is listed as a 5-star prospect and ranked amongst the top four punters in the nation by Jamie Kohl of Kohl's Kicking. Likewise, Hagerup is listed as a 4.5-star prospect and the No. 2 punter in the nation by Chris Sailer of Chris Sailer Kicking.

I haven't seen the complete rankings by those guys so they could consider Sadler to be slightly better, I am not sure. But at least these ratings show UM is getting a good one. I also offer these two other data points. Sadler came in and kicked in front of RR and crew during camp. No offer ever came and they decided to pursue Hagerup exclusively. Second, Hagerup's final four of Florida (probably greyshirt), OSU, and Wisconsin (local school), speaks volumes as to his talent, I think.

It's really the Zoltan effect. He's been so good and amazing, that while in the past we would have rolled our eyes upon this news, it now gets us generally excited. Anyone know what most other schools do re: offering scholarships to punters? Do some schools just fill it with walk-ons?
