Will Campbell playing time
Hey, I haven't been on in a while, so I don't know the exact answer to this question. I was gonna ask why Will Campbell wasn't played much against Uconn last weekend? I heard he had a good camp, and I know they're playing the 3-3-5, but he's too talented not to play more. Maybe he had an attitude issue I'm not aware of and that's why he's not playing, but like I said I haven't been on in a while so I am not totally sure. I just would like to know why he's not being utilized????

he would play more. I trust the coaches. They have nothing to gain from keeping their best players on the bench. He'll play when the coaches think he's ready.

Many opinions on him. Based upon what I have seen and what I have ready, he is just not ready yet. I agree with many in MGOBLOGusphereland that had this been a roster that had depth and not been depleted, he would have red-shirted last year.... just to develop further.
It is obviously not about size... it's about positional skill set, form, and discipline. He just is not there yet.
I also feel he will develop, and develop fast... will probably be called upon more in second half of the schedule.

I think he will see more playing time as the season progresses. We will need him for some of the bigger OL teams in the b10.
Next season I think he will be a starter and a great one!

You are paying too much attention to the 5 stars next to his name, and not enough to the results when he is actually in the game when you say he is too talented to not be in there more.

that's true, but i think with more playing time he will develop into a monster playmaker. The Michigan D needs help right now. Not specifically the defensive line, but the unit as a whole. Out of everybody on the Michigan defense, he has the most talent and physical size to make an impact right now. Obviously, he shouldn't play every down, but i think they need to boost his playing time slowly.

Like others have said though, if he was talented enough or in shape enough to be on the field, HE WOULD BE. He isn't which means that in the opinion of the coaches, he's not talented enough to be out there at this point.

he's making monster plays in practice and somehow the staff is holding him back? I think it's safe to assume he's not shown much in practice (or at least not enough yet) and can't work his way onto the field.
One thing's for sure about this staff -- they don't care about who a person is, what kind of hype they have (had), how old they are. It's open compeition every week. If you prove you're ready to play, you'll play. Will's talent at the D1 level is purely speculative at this point.
Give him time. If he works, he'll probably be a player.

Should have redshirted last year as he was very raw coming out of high school and proved that last year. If he isn't ready for game action it does him no good to get in a game, be run over like against Iowa, and then be labeled a total bust be all the fans. Give him time to develop his technique and then see what he can produce as a starter during his junior and senior years.

is the reason. When you run a 3-3-5 and you have an all-B10 performer/David Banner in front of you, you're likely to sit a lot. I imagine, like umlinks said, that he'll get more time against the B10 teams when we have to get a meatier line and have more 4 down linemen sets.

It seems like his tecnique, or lack thereof, is the biggest issue. He may also not be in great shape. Being in less-than-stellar shape may affect his technique, in that he gets tired and starts to play too high.

I saw that interview with him on the season previews from Mgoblue. He seems to get it and acknowledges that he has to be better for the situation to get better. He didn't appear bitter or lost about the reality of what needs to be done.
All good signs for the future.
