Will Campbell To Jets!!
Congrats to Big Will!
Previous Pick: Round: 6 Pick: 10 (178 overall)
Beat me by a few seconds. Round 6, 178 overall.
Congrats to Big Will, and the Jets. They got a hardworking lineman. I expect we'll see much more from him in the future.
Wasn't hard working the knock on him??
The coaches said he was a gym rat and leader his senior season.
I heard that too, but that is still a red flag
actually I don't want to say red flag, just raises an eyebrow
Yeah because no one ever matures as they get older.
Yeah its no coincidence the year before he gets paid he decides to take football more seriously. Ever wonder why pro athletes have career years during a contract year?

I don't think the pros are a good analogy here. Pros are adult professionals and should be evaluated as such. Will came here as a teenage kid with tremendous upside but in need of strong adult coaching support. He finally got that under Hoke & Co and his attitude, work ethic and performance improved dramatically. Will admitted as much in his senior year press conferences when he voiced his regret he didn't have another year under Mattison. Cursed burned redshirt! Hope Will makes it in the NFL even though UM sort of let him down as an underclassman.
I hope he makes it too, but do not blame the old coaching staff that is a cop out an a excuse.
He admitted he didn't work his hardest his first couple of seasons, but once Hoke and co. came to town, he changed his attitude and became a leader with his work ethic.
BWC + David Harris? Damn.
A big congrats to Big Will. Hope he sees more sucess in the NFL than he did at UM.
Should be interesting. Kid has some talent, and the Jets definitely need help on the line considering they released a DT and have some other question marks.
Not really, Jets are totally stacked on DL, especially after taking Sheldon Richardson at 13, which was a total surprise because of so many holes in other areas. Seems like Rex really wanted to fortify the trenches on both sides and will be lining up 4 or more on the defensive line.
I don't really get this pick given the needs at OLB, FS, and WR, but I'm thrilled to have another Wolverine on the team and hope Big Will continues the effort and progress he made his senior year.
I definitely don't buy the NFL Network commentator's belief that he'll be switched to OL. We tried that experiment and it never came close to working.
Jets are listing him at OL and worked him out as a guard, so he'll be on the OL.
And they pick a FB in a 7th... wow, as a Jets fan I have no idea what to say. If I am Roundtree and Kovac, Jets would definitely be the place I would head to as an undrafted free agent.
Congrats! I'm not gonna lie, I'm kind of surprised. But certainly as the measurables. If he works hard, he can make this work. Good luck!
There are reports that the Jets drafted Campbell as an OG.
Could you share those reports?
The Jets drafted Campbell with the intention of using him at guard.

It didn't work too well at U of M.
He didn't exactly have "coaches."
It's official, Campbell will be listed as an offensive lineman from the #Jets.

Campbell said three teams brought him in for private workouts. One of them was at DT, two were at G. #nyj #jets

This guy is the Jets beat writer for the Star-Ledger.
But that's what they were talking about on NFL network after he was picked.
I was having trouble following the draft and watching the last couple innings of both the Tigers and Michigan Softball in hard-fought wins for both teams. MGoBlog is, without a doubt, my go-to source for all up-to-the-minute must-have U of M sports updates!!!
That sucks...
I hate the jets as a giant fan but happy for Big Will.
Hate the Jets as a Giants' fan and think they've been a circus under Ryan... but would force myself to watch IF Big Will were to get some time

I hate the Jets and I'm not even a Giants fan.
EIther way, I'm happy to see him get drafted as well.
Why does bwc get two !'s and Denard only gets one?
That's why. Not that the Jets are any better, but still...
When Kovacs gets picked it'll have three!!!
I wonder if Kovacs would have a better chance of making it in the NFL if he were to go undrafted. Then he could choose the best situation for himself.
On the other hand, going from walk-on the NFL draftee would be damn awesome.
will be an interesting experiment. I guess he's got the frame for it, but he's probably a high schooler in terms of offensive line skills. I hope the Jets make it work
I am hopeful Will does well. maybe Rex has some new techniques for him
He does know a thing or two about footwork...
Win.
Congrats Big Will. All that hard work this season and Hoke/Mattison busting your ass everyday really paid off. Normally I mock the Jets, but now I have a small reason to cheer for them.
Switching to the OL for the Jets? Sounds like just another easy day for BWC...
drafted before kenjon barner, rex burkhead and bacari rambo? color me shocked but best of luck to him
Best of luck to you in NY!
Congrats BWC! 1... 2 ... We want more draft picks!
I remember in high school a lot of scouts were saying he had much more potential at OLine rather than DLine. Really hope it works out for him.
I'm sure Campbell will play wherever he's needed in order to play in the NFL, but I really hope they're right about him having more potential on the O-Line. I'd have to see him get cut because he wasn't good enough for the O-Line, especially after all the progress he has made under Hoke and Mattison.
I don't want to start a Rich Rodriguez slam fest but damn it has been depressing at how few of our players have been drafted. First two this year taken in rounds 5 and 6. Used to be two taken in the first round or two at the least in every draft. Think we will be back on that level in a year or two but its fairly obvious to the lack of real talent and why we struggled during those few years.
But to get off the Debbie Downer note, congrats to Denard and Will and any others picked up late or in free agency. Your hard work and dedication have paid off. GO BLUE!
The draft really does highlight how low our talent level has been for the last 5 years, despite people's attempt to put a good face on it. Just as one measure of comparison, LSU had SIX defensive players drafted just in the first three rounds of this one draft.
Mattison and Co. have done a good job putting together a respectable defense with mediocre talent, but they've got three years of their own recruits now. It's time they started developing some star-caliber players and a championship-level defense out of all those highly touted recruits.
Just End The Season!
So say the suffering Jets fans.
Good luck to BWC. He is going to need it being on that circus of a team.
Congrats to BWC. Hope the potential we all know he has can be fully realized. Would've loved to have him back this year.
He's just a jump over the river from them Harlem women.... Do work Will, do work son
