lol yesterday people were posting in another bowl thread about how poorly he was doing, so which is it?
Both? Given his Michigan career, that wouldn't surprise me.
Servant. Pastor. Husband. Michigan fan in Duluth.
He impressed the scouts with his agility. Unfortunately, he did it by sliding over the hoods of their cars.
Blame Rich Rod. Or at least that's what I hear.
Blockhams reference, so don't kill me for bringing it up. It's a joke. I love Rich Rod. Er, that's not entirely true, but I don't hate the man.
He did poorly on his character assessment. Scouts found that he created a rumor that he punched several sea animals, and specifically a whale, while prepping for our recent bowl game against SC. It turns out, he has never even met a whale, and only seen any evidence of said whale on the internet. There was no evidence that any whales were punched on that date at all, let alone by Campbell.
Hail.
That is great, though I wish he would have impressed the scouts more during our actual games.
But the real question is: How's his pad level????

wait is that good or bad?

happy to hear his game kicked into gear right when we needed it!
"What" ain't no country I ever heard of. They speak English in What?
Given the improvement he showed when he finally got some consistent coaching the past 2 years and especially this year, his frame and work ethic, I wouldn't be surprised to see him have a long, consistent if quiet NFL career. He won't be Wilfork or Ngata, but I can see him as a contributor.
there's no way he wouldn't have gotten to this point w/o the combined coaching of mattison, hoke and montgomery. i don't see him as a world-beater on an nfl defensive line (i'd love to be proven wrong), but he's got the build and the frame to be a solid contributor. if he continues to bust his ass during the combine and pro days, he could get picked up the second day of the draft.
It's been a lot. Its been a roller coaster that for some reason seemed like it would never get good. But you know what? We kept fighting. It's like that old saying goes, "Those Who Stay Will Be Champions." -David Molk
Reminds me of Watson, never really did anything on the field, but then goes and impresses the scouts.
Gabe Watson did a lot more on the field than BWC did.
I've said it before but I wouldn't be surprised if he has a long productive NFL career. Physically, he's there. He's been coached up and understands what it takes. Why not?
I don't really understand the O-Line mention though. He's made huge strides as a DLineman and has prototype size for that position, so why would a team want to start him from stratch again on the other side of the ball?
Twin Cities
Even though he's made huge strides, he still hasn't been very productive. I believe Brandon Moore, an OG for the Jets, was a defensive tackle in college.
Odd, heard he was doing terrible just 2 days ago. Good for him. Always felt that his lack of major success was 40% work ethic and 60% having zero coaching (or RS) for 2 years here.
Very valid point! Yet, when MM answers the question of "how/why did your defense improve so much in one year? Did you not like your past coaches (RR)?" posed by NFL teams at the combine (and quoted in other interviews, IIRC) with "No, I love those guys but we weren't coached properly. We were literally told to just go make plays. No technique was taught. It was basically backyard football on defense." Words like that make me question his RS and his coaching for 2 years. That said, had this staff had him for 5 years I don't think he would have been who we thought he was going to be. I give that. BWC admits work ethic was an issue.
I think his upward trajectory and his frame, etc. will get him drafted in the later rounds. I think he can defintely occupy a role as a rotation d-lineman, provided he continues to work hard and develop his skillset.
I'm rooting for him.
He never consistently made the plays that we all wanted from him and I wish he had one more year to get there, but I am still rooting for him to continue to get better and make it to the next level.

when this would have read "Will Campbell impressing scouts at the buffet"
This guy was a big fat lazy bust at Michigan. To bad. He only decided to play his senior year because he was looking for a pro contract. I feel sorry for the team that drafts him.

Frustrating to see RR burn his red-shirt to block for a few PATs. BWC is the posterchild for why linemen should sit it out if at all possible. Another year would have been very helpful to his progress.
Best of luck Big Will. College days don't necessarily indicate NFL success.
that he might go day 2 (round 3).
