Will Campbell arrested. For sliding over the hood of a car.

http://www.annarbor.com/news/crime/u-m-defensive-tackle-william-campbell...

Felony and misdemeanor vandalism. Panic? Yeah, panic.

EDIT: He was only arraigned based on an April 7th incident. So, if the coaches know about it and allowed him to go to SEAL training, it might not be complete DOOM. Nevertheless, remain braced for panic. Just remember: in case of emergency, your recruiting seatbelt can be used as a safety device.

EDIT II: They've updated the story. It appears that he was arrested for sliding on the hood of a car which damaged the hood of the car because Will Campbell is a giant human being. So, to summarize: 1) Probably not a big deal. 2) Ann Arbor police and prosecutors suck, and 3) nothing good ever happens after midnight.

I bet Brady Hoke laughed at Will when he heard about this. Honestly, it's hard to categorize what Campbell did as "malicious." I'm sure he didn't mean to damage the car, he was just acting like a drunk idiot, as we all do. If I was the prosecutor, I'd want Big Will to pay back the money of any damage he did to the vehicle, and then dismiss the case or find the tiniest misdemeanor I can find. Maybe even let him keep it off his record. I know felony SOUNDS like a big deal, but in this instance, it really isn't.

When you're the God of Thunder, you're gonna break some shizz.  It comes with the job.  Next they'll want to bust Poseidon for flood damage.

(Kidding aside, I really hope this amounts to nothing for BWC's sake!)

The fact that he hasn't been kicked off the team is good news.  But that being said, this news is very alarming and dissappointing heading into a year with such high expectations.  We've been rooting for BWC to live up to his potential for years.

And this crap always happens at the position we're the thinnest at.  Ef Murphy.

doesn't mean it happened. Also, don't get too wrapped up in the "felony" aspect of it. If he, for example, keyed a car, and did more than $1000 damage (which is easy to do with a paint job, one blemish means repainting entire panels, then the panels may not match, so the whole side needs resprayed, then the hood doesn't blend, etc., etc., next thing you know its a $2500 paint job). Keying a car is stupid and the act of a moron, but it is also nowhere near as bad as having a key (of coke) in your car.

Innocent until proven guilty. Often times larger charges are applied at first for various reasosns, even if the prosecutors know there is no way they will stick. Felony charges sound good in the headline. I ask anyone whose reaction is to freak out to take a deep breath first, please.

I'm sure the Coaches will have a discussion with, and some lessons for young Mr. Campbell, guilty or innocent. Hopefully, he learns to either not do stupid things, or at the very least not be present when other people are doing stupid things. If he is required to miss any time, I hope he reflects upon how his mistakes have let his teammates down.

I'm just a fan, doesn't matter if my favored team may suffer from the consequences, teaching this young man a lesson and helping him grow up is more important than winning a football game.

I think the main distinction you are going for is that keying a car is an intentional and deliberate act.  Campbell's act was reckless, but not intentional.
