Wilbon: What does he know, anyway.

Submitted by dakotapalm on
Well apparently Michael Wilbon talked to "a player who played for Rich Rodriguez" who laid his wallet on a table saying that was the amount of money he was willing to wager that Rodriguez was done after this year. This was about the third nonsensical thing that Wilbon said while talking to Mr. Tony today, but I am wondering... Well, I don't know how to react. It's not like he's hearing it from Bill Martin. I would imagine Kirk Herbstreit had better sources than Wilbon, and he was wrong as well. This doesn't make any sense, but it's going to be making news, so I thought I'd put it out there. I haven't posted much on the subject, but for the record I think it's absurd to give ANY coach less than three years unless he has dis-graced himself with moral or other non-football failure (say, Mike Locksley). FWIW. Source: My ears and Dan Levy's Twitter: Mike Wilbon just said on Kornheiser's radio show that 'on pretty good authority' both Charlie Weis and Rich Rodriguez are both 'done.'

has a strong dislike for michigan and he doesn't hide it what so ever. but we do have to remember that he is a reporter first and a espn ass-clown second. but what makes me not believe this is that hes hearing it from a former player, which really might not mean much in the long run.

I used to think it would be crazy for a school to fire a coach who hasn't had much time and who's been playing with walk-ons and freshman quarterbacks. And while I don't want it to happen, I feel like we're getting closer and closer to that point. It's one thing to lose to the other good teams in the conference, but when you're getting blown out like we have against PSU and Wisconsin, that might send administration over the edge. I'll keep my fingers crossed, though.

Nebraska's record 1998-present: 102-48 Michigan: 101-47 They shitcanned Callahan, and he is rightfully viewed as failure, but he took them to a bowl game in Year 2--and he switched to a West Coast offense after junking their option offense. And Pellini? Well, let's just say he is having a real wing-ding of a time in Lincoln when you compare him to Rodriguez.

Wilbon loves to report on anything negative to do with Michigan. I don't even watch PTI anymore because he always finds a way to take a jab at Michigan even if the story at the time has nothing to do with them.

wilbon's at good at predicting coaching changes as kornheiser was at announcing pro football- that's horrible folks! also, everyone can settle down- the earliest rr could ever be fired is the last day of billmartin's tenure- martin is not not not going to fire rr. and therefore , since that does not happen until the beginning of the next football season gives rr his third year- after that who the hell knows with all the fighting factions out there.

For the most part, I like Wilbon. He seems pretty good-natured and takes ribbing from Kornheiser pretty well. He's not right about everything, but who is? I could start a thread about almost any sports talk guy (Mike and Mike, Colin Cowherd, Jim Rome, Dan Patrick, Tony Kornheiser, Woody Paige, Tim Cowlishaw, etc.), and SOMEBODY on here would absolutely despise him. Now, when the smoke clears, Wilbon could very well look like an asshat. I'm not defending what he said, but this one thing doesn't totally destroy his credibility, in my opinion.
