Wife Day Games

Oh, I thought you were going to talk about other types of wife games, heh heh.
September 24th, 2012 at 12:43 PM ^
Now that would have been an exciting thread.

Foresight, my friend. Every several years, this will not be a bye week Saturday. Plus the whole "anniversary weekend" thing they like to pull. You're screwed.

They say that now my man, in the past 3 years I've;
1. Spent a shit ton of money and got married (she got everything she wanted)
2. Spent a shit ton of money and moved out of state for her job
3. Spent a shit ton of money and bought a house.
Except all I hear is that we havent done anything for our anniversery (the 2nd two occurred right on our anniversery weekend).
September 24th, 2012 at 2:20 PM ^
You should have pulled what I just did last month - buy a new house and set move-in day for the same day as your anniversary! She complained about me not getting her anything and I simply pointed to house and said "Happy Anniversary!" Hahaha.

Apparently your wife read this and marked it as flamebait...
September 24th, 2012 at 3:54 PM ^
I have several regular detractors who just don't like me. Its a bummer but I guess I earned it (?) with my stance in the "Rodriguez Flameout" era. Somehow, my cohort JHackney seems to avoided the heat notwithstanding his use of atomic warfare. Lucky bastard..

As a wife myself can I just lay this out here? A little recipe for happiness.
Clearly, you have married a woman who wants some kind of fuss made on the anniversary Not all women feel that this is important, but some do; your wife appears to be in that camp.
Suck it up and make a big deal out of the day. Do not consider it sufficient that you two went out for a nice dinner just four days prior, or that you ecently bought a new couch that she begged for, or that you are letting her drive the nice car even though your commute is tougher, or that you cancelled your annual guys golf weekend so you could stay home and nurse her through strep throat last May, or whatever other sacrifices you have made or appreciation you have shown recently.
f the calendar says it is your anniversary, you celebrate that m*therf*cker like U-M just beat OSU in overtime.

Give her the credit card and tell her to have fun. Money always shuts them up.

I keep writing up a snarky response to this, and I keep deleting it. Something about you getting married in a few days is messing with my internet fury.

Can you bring up the possibility of LiveBlog coverage of your marriage? Perhaps a live stream?

Hai Guyz I'm currently in Iqaluit and don't want to miss the action. Anyone know a good bar that might show the ceremony?

Well, a prenup and a trip to the strip club could tip the line in your favor...

Well then, its a win-win sir.

Thats BS, as a Michigan Man we all know you have the speed, wits and strength to make a break at the line. Just use some misdirection at the altar and its a straight run out down the aisle and into the endzone.

Working 16 hour shifts all week. Won't see wifey and son til Saturday. What an awesome day for a bye week...

God bless modern day Amurica
September 24th, 2012 at 1:26 PM ^
Eh.
8 hour days at my 9-5 job. I am also training 8 hours per day for a bartending job at a casino that is opening. Eventually, it'll be part time and on the weekends. More me being greedy than anything.
September 24th, 2012 at 4:43 PM ^
That's just what they want you to think.

My wife looked at the game schedule on the fridge yesterday and began to make plans for Saturday, so we shall be at the cider mill and I will be the dad asking his kids why two cinnamon donuts are insufficient and for a good reason that they deserve a third one.
The day will also involve the installation of a third digital cable box, since Spongebob must be on at least two televisions to minimize distractions on Saturdays when I am at home rather than at the game myself. As for the slate of games listed, I think I shall DVR MSU-Ohio as well since we will undoubtedly be in the pumpkin patch for quite some time - my daughter's standards for pumpkins are very precise.
Oh, and congratulations to SAvoodoo on the impending marriage!

One of the benefits of night games. Work all day cleaning out and rearranging the garage, mowing the lawn, and playing with the kids. Wife prepares steak and beer for dinner during the game as a thank you.
September 25th, 2012 at 2:31 AM ^
you trust your wife with a steak? This world is turning upside down.

And people on Wife's message boards are assuming I am going to be a baby seal game.
They are right.
Take 'yardwork' and lay the points.

And given Wife's present state of with-childness, this year's game was over before it even began.

And yeppers, he's my first. Due the day after the Ohio game. The kid has a sense of timing already.

Best of luck during the pregnancy! I know its a stressful time. Enjoy the sleep while it lasts. Or do what I did and start training your body to operate on 4-5 hours per night. I started several months before our second arrived and it worked out great. Plus, I got to play some serious video games without the wife complaining!

bird-hunting with the guys this weekend. And next weekend. I should still be married when the weekend of 10/6 rolls around

Iowa should not be giving a touchdown to any team that isn't a complete tire fire.

Kork Coupons on my lack of a Wife Day matchup:
ChopBlock sat home tonight on the couch and watched us. We played our hearts out — you saw it. I don't see how you get punished for playing and someone else gets to sit on the couch and get what they want. If this is the way the system is, I guess it's a broken system.
