Shes a big enough nfl fan (titans, yes yesterday was not fun) to not have full fall weekend anniversaries. We agreed Saturdays in fall are for football. No, I am not naive enough to think it will stay that way. At this point I'm Michigan v Alabama and I just forced a three and out to start the game...

They say that now my man, in the past 3 years I've;

1. Spent a shit ton of money and got married (she got everything she wanted)

2. Spent a shit ton of money and moved out of state for her job

3. Spent a shit ton of money and bought a house.

Except all I hear is that we havent done anything for our anniversery (the 2nd two occurred right on our anniversery weekend).

I have several regular detractors who just don't like me.  Its a bummer but I guess I earned it (?) with my stance in the "Rodriguez Flameout" era.  Somehow, my cohort JHackney seems to avoided the heat notwithstanding his use of atomic warfare.  Lucky bastard..

As a wife myself can I just lay this out here?  A little recipe for happiness.

Clearly, you have married a woman who wants some kind of fuss made on the anniversary  Not all women feel that this is important, but some do; your wife appears to be in that camp.

Suck it up and make a big deal out of the day.  Do not consider it sufficient that you two went out for a nice dinner just four days prior, or that you ecently bought a new couch that she begged for, or that you are letting her drive the nice car even though your commute is tougher, or that you cancelled your annual guys golf weekend so you could stay home and nurse her through strep throat last May, or whatever other sacrifices you have made or appreciation you have shown recently.

f the calendar says it is your anniversary, you celebrate that m*therf*cker like U-M just beat OSU in overtime.

I'll bring it up, there will be several (at least 5 that I know of) mgobloggers in the audience and my best man and one groomsman. Could get decent analysis out of that crew including a preceremony golf match recap

My wife looked at the game schedule on the fridge yesterday and began to make plans for Saturday, so we shall be at the cider mill and I will be the dad asking his kids why two cinnamon donuts are insufficient and for a good reason that they deserve a third one.

The day will also involve the installation of a third digital cable box, since Spongebob must be on at least two televisions to minimize distractions on Saturdays when I am at home rather than at the game myself. As for the slate of games listed, I think I shall DVR MSU-Ohio as well since we will undoubtedly be in the pumpkin patch for quite some time - my daughter's standards for pumpkins are very precise.

Oh, and congratulations to SAvoodoo on the impending marriage!

Best of luck during the pregnancy!  I know its a stressful time.  Enjoy the sleep while it lasts.  Or do what I did and start training your body to operate on 4-5 hours per night.  I started several months before our second arrived and it worked out great.  Plus, I got to play some serious video games without the wife complaining!

Kork Coupons on my lack of a Wife Day matchup:

ChopBlock sat home tonight on the couch and watched us. We played our hearts out — you saw it. I don't see how you get punished for playing and someone else gets to sit on the couch and get what they want. If this is the way the system is, I guess it's a broken system.
