Wife Day 2013 Part 1 Plans

Submitted by JeepinBen on

After much ANGAR, RAGE, and internet stupidity, we have arrived at the first of two bye weeks in the Michigan football calendar. So while you'll have a chance to redeem the mistakes you make this weekend during Wife Day II - Wife Harder, your main excuse to sit on the couch and watch football this Saturday is going back to the drawing board, working on fundamentals, and getting ready for Minnesota.

So, what are you doing this Wife Day?

(Interlude on the history of the bye week being called "wife day" around these parts:

And JamieMac's case against "wife day" as an entity: http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/war-against-wife-day)

So, what's your wife day going to be? Building capital so that you can spend it in order to watch the Michigan games in future weeks? Going to a wedding from your friends who still suck because they're getting married on a fall saturday - but don't suck that much because they picked a bye week? Watching football because it's a fall saturday? Or you're not sure if you'll have enough time?

That's good. I have a friend who did the same thing as you and every 5-6 years, he misses a game. So, this was coming from second-hand experience. I told my wife there was no way in hell that we were getting married during football season (Ann Arbor churches won't let you get married during home games anyway) so said friend is not in fact me.

Wife is working on wife day..... So it will be sons soccer game, followed by dancing with my daughters in the living room, pizza then crying myself to sleep because of no football.

My wife and I are headed over to St. Pete Beach for her birthday weekend.  We're thinking of venturing into downtown St. Pete to watch the Ohio/Wisconsin game.  Should be a good time.

The live in GF will be working for most of the day (gotta love being a young associate), then, a wedding in the evening.

I will sleep in, turn on Gameday, maybe some coffee, perhaps some yard work, perhaps I will watch football instead....yea, I'm gonna watch football instead.

I have been to precisely two weddings in the past year, last week and this week. Free and clear after this.

Possibly going to the outlet malls. Watching Purdue get slaughtered as usual. Maybe perhaps watch South Carolina hold their own. I don't know if I will have enough time.

Going to a winery in the morning because what is a better start to a wife day than a morning buzz, then most likely being dragged to do some shopping and clean her house.

Fixing a leak that sprung up on our roof last Saturday with my father-in-law, and then having dinner with my wife and mother-in-law for her birthday.

Single guy here, going to a cabin in Virginia to help celebrate one of my best friends' last weekends as a free man. However, his wife to be is bad ass. She plays call of duty with us. His wife days won't be that bad. I can only hope I get that lucky.

She's an NIU graduate so we're headed to the Purdue/NIU game in West Lafayette. Works perfectly. She gets to see her alma mater play and I still get to go see a football game on the bye week in most likely a half empty stadium. Should be a good day.

After an easy 8-12 mile run in the morning, I will be taking the wife to the bike shop to try out new bikes with me. Then it's back to the house to root against teams ranked higher than Michigan followed by an Octoberfest party at our friend's house in the evening.

I'm married, but don't have "Wife Day" on bye weeks. I do what I do every Saturday during the football season and watch football. Thankfully I have a wife who understands my obsession with CFB.

Great idea! My wife has always wanted to go but we've never made the time. There's nothing else planned for the weekend (for a change) so a trip to GR and back - while being a long day/drive - might be something to consider.

Wedding on Saturday... Had one last year during Nebraska game... Ducked out to watch the second half... Ugh. Not what I wanted to see. Anyways, this is the best time for a wedding! Going to watch the first half of uga-LSU, and then go to that

My time will be split between Kids, Wife, and Grad School course load. There might be some drinking involved as well. I also live in FL and am 100 yards from the beach, so that's going to happen.

Spending the weekend in Vegas. My anniversary happens to coincide with the bye week this year so it works out perfect. I'll replace football with cirque de soleil. Oh Joy!

I'll be spending Wife Day Part 1, with my future wife getting engagement pictures taken in Ann Arbor. Not super thrilled about it, but at least I'll be spending the day in Ann Arbor. Speaking of which, anybody have any recommendations for good picture spots? Something tells me my idea of pictures with University athletic facilities will not be met with much enthusiasm.
