Wife Day 2013 Part 1 Plans
After much ANGAR, RAGE, and internet stupidity, we have arrived at the first of two bye weeks in the Michigan football calendar. So while you'll have a chance to redeem the mistakes you make this weekend during Wife Day II - Wife Harder, your main excuse to sit on the couch and watch football this Saturday is going back to the drawing board, working on fundamentals, and getting ready for Minnesota.
So, what are you doing this Wife Day?
(Interlude on the history of the bye week being called "wife day" around these parts:
Six Zero's coining and epic preview: http://mgoblog.com/diaries/preview-wifeday-2010

And JamieMac's case against "wife day" as an entity: http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/war-against-wife-day)
So, what's your wife day going to be? Building capital so that you can spend it in order to watch the Michigan games in future weeks? Going to a wedding from your friends who still suck because they're getting married on a fall saturday - but don't suck that much because they picked a bye week? Watching football because it's a fall saturday? Or you're not sure if you'll have enough time?

Was either this weekend or Oct. 26. My future mother-in-law wanted more time to plan so we went with the later date.

I would like to salute you on behalf of Michigan fans everywhere for choosing a bye weekend.

He better hope that there is a bye week on October 26, 2019. And 2024. And 2030. And...

Fortunately my bride is a former UM athelete and understands that Fall Saturdays are special. Nothing would be a better anniversary gift than a Michigan victory. That being said we do have a lot to do this weekend to get ready for the big event.

That's good. I have a friend who did the same thing as you and every 5-6 years, he misses a game. So, this was coming from second-hand experience. I told my wife there was no way in hell that we were getting married during football season (Ann Arbor churches won't let you get married during home games anyway) so said friend is not in fact me.

My wife and I are headed over to St. Pete Beach for her birthday weekend. We're thinking of venturing into downtown St. Pete to watch the Ohio/Wisconsin game. Should be a good time.

We'll have to give it a try. Thanks for the tip.

The live in GF will be working for most of the day (gotta love being a young associate), then, a wedding in the evening.
I will sleep in, turn on Gameday, maybe some coffee, perhaps some yard work, perhaps I will watch football instead....yea, I'm gonna watch football instead.
I have been to precisely two weddings in the past year, last week and this week. Free and clear after this.

Possibly going to the outlet malls. Watching Purdue get slaughtered as usual. Maybe perhaps watch South Carolina hold their own. I don't know if I will have enough time.

Going to a winery in the morning because what is a better start to a wife day than a morning buzz, then most likely being dragged to do some shopping and clean her house.

Pants up, man.

You'll understand when you start liking girls son.

I've been locked down for seven years brother, but my pants stay firmly in place. Unless I want them off.

Fixing a leak that sprung up on our roof last Saturday with my father-in-law, and then having dinner with my wife and mother-in-law for her birthday.

When I play video games the best part is getting away from my gf. Peace and quiet.

Sounds like you need a new girlfriend.

Gonna tally some miles on Old Rag in Shenandoah.

It is the perfect weekend to close the pool before the leaves decide they want to have a pool party.

After an easy 8-12 mile run in the morning, I will be taking the wife to the bike shop to try out new bikes with me. Then it's back to the house to root against teams ranked higher than Michigan followed by an Octoberfest party at our friend's house in the evening.

I'm married, but don't have "Wife Day" on bye weeks. I do what I do every Saturday during the football season and watch football. Thankfully I have a wife who understands my obsession with CFB.

Does your wife have an unmarried sister? Wolverine Devotee is looking for a mate.
September 25th, 2013 at 10:30 AM ^
I saw that, but the answer is no.
September 25th, 2013 at 11:04 AM ^
That you meant "no" on many levels.

Great idea! My wife has always wanted to go but we've never made the time. There's nothing else planned for the weekend (for a change) so a trip to GR and back - while being a long day/drive - might be something to consider.

My time will be split between Kids, Wife, and Grad School course load. There might be some drinking involved as well. I also live in FL and am 100 yards from the beach, so that's going to happen.
September 25th, 2013 at 10:08 AM ^
I'm leaving the woman at home, going fishing.

Spending the weekend in Vegas. My anniversary happens to coincide with the bye week this year so it works out perfect. I'll replace football with cirque de soleil. Oh Joy!
September 25th, 2013 at 10:11 AM ^
GTA V, hike with gf and dog, and watch Ole Miss upset Alabama.
September 25th, 2013 at 10:20 AM ^
Golf trip with some buddies in northern Minnesota.
September 25th, 2013 at 10:25 AM ^
Not sure exactly, probably sleeping in, watching football during the day and going to the bars at night. Ah the glories of being unwed.
September 25th, 2013 at 11:12 AM ^
Upon further thought, I will be doing Med School secondary apps all weekend. Hooray.
September 25th, 2013 at 10:27 AM ^
I'll be spending Wife Day Part 1, with my future wife getting engagement pictures taken in Ann Arbor. Not super thrilled about it, but at least I'll be spending the day in Ann Arbor. Speaking of which, anybody have any recommendations for good picture spots? Something tells me my idea of pictures with University athletic facilities will not be met with much enthusiasm.

The Diag, the Arb, exterior of Angell Hall, the Grad Library (inside and out), the Wave Field on North Campus, the Pond outside the Music School... really, anywhere would be pretty. These were just ideas of when we had ours done.
