I have seen it done before as an example of team unity. its all about THE TEAM, THE TEAM, THE TEAM

The player photos did show up on the big screen but there was no sound. Intentional or not, I don't know. Or a technical problem - anybody know?
It was a shame though because people like to work themselves up hollering for their favorite players.

Maybe they thought that RR would get booed when they announced his name, so they decided not to do any intro at all.

Solid guess under worse circumstances, but I can't imagine that was the case yesterday.

It would be because it is pretty much NEVER done during regular season games. In fact, it IS never done during regular season games. I can't even remember it being done during bowl games. This isn't basketball--which has become a glorified rock concert--where you introduce 5 players and a coach decked out in a $3000.00 Armani suit.

Typically they do announce the starting lineups and head coaches before every home game at the Big House. Not basketball style where the players run out one by one, but the announcer has traditionally announced the starters over the loudspeakers before the game. Maybe RR wants to change this, who really knows at this point, but I will be interested to see if this is the case again next Saturday.

Have you ever been to a UM game in your life man?

As recently as 2005. PSU and OSU--don't recall seeing player intros in those two games.
But I have some friends who are longtime season ticket holders, so I'll ask them and get back to ya.
I can't tell if the OP means televised intors or just intros at the game before the cameras come on, though. If the case is they introduce players on the field but not for the TV audience, then that is certainly My Bad.

In 3 years of contant attendance, the starting lineup is always announced accomopanied by video/photo of each player on the big screen.
Saturday the video appeared but NOT the audio. So I don't think it could have been a conscious choice but a technical problem of some kind.

That was the first game in my twenty some years (several of these years I was quite small) of attending games, where there were not audible intros. I asked my dad who has been attending games since the sixties, and he couldnt remember the last time they did not do them. Shame to b/c I love to hear the "Who cares" chants after the away team players are announced.
If it was not technical, some one needs to change this. I think it adds a lot to the pregame atmosphere. I guess we will find out next game.

Too bad they didn't do the starting line ups, I was excited to hear the crowd and ready to give Rod a standing O.

Maybe they thought Coach Rod was going to go LeGarrette Blount on some of the Blue Hairs???
On a serious note my son and I got the folks around us ready to give Coach a loud show of support. Pissed that there seemed to be an audio problem.
