It's pretty simple at this point....Les Miles or Brady Hoke, you be the judge an unproven coach who had one good year at Ball State, and beat up crappy competition to win at San Diego State, or a proven winner in the SEC? All coaches come with baggage, RR came with baggage, oh well that is the nature of the beast. At this point I will take anyone but Brady Hoke, lets see this scenario....I'm Brady Hoke that coach at Michigan we could really use a 5 star recruit like you......who are you again? I'm Les Miles, I do you want to see my National Championship ring? I will make you a winner and a potential NFL star like so many others.....No brainer? Exactly STFU........Les Miles would be great at Michigan! Go Blue......
Why Les is not more.
if we over-sign and win, lets see how many people complain about the poor kid we kicked to the curb for that 4 star potential. ill take some W's please, does Alabama's image seemed tainted when they shat on State? not that i remember, all i remember was EESSSSEEEECCCC speed rabble rabble rabble. lets just get over it, and start winning.
I know I know I have written my ticket to Bolivian.
I guess my problem is that I still believe that college football is still about the players Naive I know. Its not the pro's where no one cares about you. You didn't work out or we don't have room for you on the roster throw them on the trash heap. I guess I still believe in stories like the Mealers and it pisses me off when people string these young kids along they make life choices in good faith and coaches knowingly screw them over on a regular basis. It must be a flaw in my make up.
If we hire Les Miles I hope things work out. But if it turns out we have a coach like Brian Kelly win first players health and well being next. That will be a very sad day.
You just happend to post this while a bunch of people who value winning over player welfare were logged on.
Glad to see that. I was begining to wonder.
Really cute. Glad you get to decide what is and is not moral, in addition to knowing every single fact about Les Miles.
Still can't believe Rich nailed those cheerleaders and shredded all those recruiting documents, huh?
You can see the facts for yourself. If someone showed me a video of RR having sex with chearleaders and shredding important documents, I would believe it.
I can't tell if people are being giant homers or lazy or both.
Hey man your entiteled to whatever you want as a moral compass. But if you can't see something wrong with bringing a kid on campus him working out with the team have a dorm room then you get rid of him..... Hope nobody ever screws over your kids you probably woudn't have any sympathy for them either.
Come on man, don't make this about the Mealer and there story. I think everyone in college football knows that that is one of the greatest and most loyal stories ever...... and is definitely 100% different than a QB who decided he didn't want to start or at least try hard to have the skills to start
You think that one qb is the only one Les Miles ever did that to? It was a one time thing? What about all the over signing? I am just saying I like hearing good things about Michigan uplifting stories rather than over signing and everything else that goes with Les.
I have a novel idea. When he is hired, shut the fuck up and cheer.
I don't know who the next coach will be,but.......the guy better be sneaking chunks of glass from his trunks and grinding it in the foreheads of Dantonio and Tressel right out of the gate.
No more mister nice guy.
I had this entire thing resolved in my mind and forgot to factor in the dreads. Now I have to start over.
Jesus oversigned apostles? That is standard operating procedure in the SEC. Also, didn't RR have designated "apostles" on the team the first year and find that doesn't fly in Ann Arbor?
I posted this on the what was once 1st page/no probably 2nd page....
don't feel like reading through another 4 pages of posts to see if it has been said but anyone who has been looking at tigerdroppings have an idea of who LSU is looking at for a HC if we do indeed end up with Miles? lol
Its sleaziness of the SEC, don't hate the player, hate the game
The ends justify the means, especially with college football being big business. Just win baby !!! Some of Les' onfield (clock management) and off-field (over-recruiting) stuff has been questionable, but his excellent record and MNC can't be denied. Whatever it takes to get us lots of W's, sign me up.
this feels imminent. if we dont conclude the meeting with les as coach tomorrow (or seems likelier tonight) it would be very odd.
i have alot of reservations but its far from a disaster.
he's proven he can win with other people's talent. and combine the 2011 schedule with les's luck and we very well could be the it story of 2011.
I'm warming up to Les.
Just win, baby.
He's too old to be long-term (like Bo), but he could post some pretty respectable years before the next HC (think ~10?)
