Why is the Freep even bothering to report this?

4 arrests during U-M/EMU game

It was a quiet afternoon for law enforcement in Michigan Stadium, with just 4 arrests and 4 citations as the Wolverines beat the Eastern Michigan Eagles, 31-3.

University of Michigan Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Diane Brown said the arrests included 2 for minors in possession of alcohol, 1 for unlawful entry and 1 for violation of the controlled substances act.

Three of the citations were for alcohol in the stadium, and the other was for violation of stadium rules.

In addition, 25 people were ejected from the game — 9 for alcohol in the stadium, 7 for possessing someone else’s ID, 6 for violating stadium rules, and 3 for disorderly conduct.

This is literally probably the standard DPS safety report released after every game day.  It costs them nothing to copy and paste it with a leading paragraph probably an unpaid intern did it for them in about 5 minutes.

Any hits it brings make it profitbable.

Annarbor.com runs one of these articles after every game (today's is here), and I wouldn't be surprised if the Free Press does too. It's routine to publish these, and the papers have been doing this for years. What's the big deal?

They're trying to discourage fans from going to Ann Arbor. You've got to think twice before entering such a dangrous environment.

Seriously, the Ann Arbor News has run those after every home game for many years. The Freep was just pointing out how few problems there were today. And they had actual facts to back that opinion up. We should all commend them for that at least.

If they only caught 3 people with alcohol out of 109,000+ attendees today, either you have to wave your flask under the nose of a security guard and then puke on him in order to get caught, or kids these days are WAY better at concealment than we were.
