Why am I buckled in?

I've been buckled in since Thursday night. This is getting uncomfortable. What gives?

I don't remember where it was, but I saw Tom say we could unbuckle. Apparently he heard some stuff from some friends, but the stuff he thought might happen didn't happen.

it's pretty scary thinking back on it

but yes, we had a Ford station wagon deathtrap that seated "10" once you included the four tiny seats facing each other when you opened up the hatch in the "way back."  If you were much older than 6 years old, your knees were pretty much in the face of the kid across from you.  With the hatch closed, and the back seat down, you only seated 3 but had a boatload of space for lumber, movin' to Californy, etc.  Tried to find an actual picture, but could only find this drawing (I guess it was an upgrade, so might've been kind of rare).  Other station wagons had hidden seats in the back that faced backwards, not sure if they seated 2 or 3.

Also remember

Sam Webb said nothing would happen on Saturday. Safe to assume the ride has come to a complete stop. Please release your seatbelt, raise the safety bar, and exit to the left. Hope you enjoyed your ride here at MGo Amusement Park.

This will be longer than

any family trip to the Grand Canyon. TVH had us ready by noon yesterday, and I know something will happen, but this weekend is going to draaaaaag until the news does eventually drop. 1st time all year Tom goes out on a limb like that and he got burned. That's just bad luck.

I have been experiencing

a lot of existential angst the past couple of weeks after watching Kung Fu Panda 2 with my daughter.  No, I'm not kidding.  For some reason, those movies speak to me.

And, so did this post.  On one hand, the buckle seems to have only one tangible function - safety.  Yet, the process itself creates an intangible sense of control.

(shrugs)

We need to buckle up

If you follow recruiting there are ALWAYS ups and downs. It gets pretty turbulent. If the cabin loses pressure remember to put on your oxygen mask on first before assisting others.

I propose......

A fasten seatbelts indicator at the top of the front page.  Tom can simply flip on or off the switch like on a plane.  Then we can avoid all these useless board posts about people asking if the sign is on or off.
