this may be of some local interest
don't think he is going to decommit
Let me tell you a story about a guy named Greg Mattison.
greg seems to have the magic touch on the defensive side of the ball. has he actually helped recruit any offense yet? just curious but on topic, with what i just said it will probably be a defensive player. I have a sick wish of zettel coming back on board but chances of that are about .0000000000000000001% IMHO
He seems to let his "yes be yes." Man of his words.
Irish, you win this thread.
I'm lost without the smiley face. Sarcastic? Or asstastic? I just can't tell anymore...I'll go with the crowd and say sarcasm it is.
Definitely need to bring back the smiley face for us slow folks.
He's solid to BC.
I think that blew by most folks.
BC's got better Christians! We wore leather helmets!
Also, nicely done Irish.
But he would give new life to the program.
Good thing for you guys...
I don't think that guy's gonna be in this class. I think we have a pretty good idea who's going to finish the class.
However, if I had to pick one....well since this all seems like a fantasy anyway, let's go with Lawrence Thomas.
Barnett. We need TE's for our new offense, we're paper thin at that position, and every program of authority has offered him. A slam dunk, that one. If not him, Cooper, for obvious reasons.
Since we aren't being realistic, Jadeveon Clowney. Mattison's been a monster in terms of recruiting so far, if anyone can turn a 0% into a 1% chance, it'd be him.
Barnett's not plausible? Speaks ill of us, since he's visiting.
I'd hardly call Barnett a hail mary when he's visiting right before NSD and is considered soft to Arkansas (if even at all).
I'd be somewhat surprised if he signs with Arkansas. They've got two other TEs in the class, and from the way the scout boards are portraying it, he got 'rushed' into his decision to commit. That's not to say he'll come here, but it would surprise me if he signs with Petrino and staff
Who knows, though? Watkins signed with Clemson, who already had three WR, including two ranked hiher than him. Not that I see Barnett w/ the squeaky-pigs. But who knows who he winds up with? he's had plenty of offers. I don't think him visiting us last gives us the edge. Quite the opposite, really.
I guarantee you that Sammy Watkins is more talented than any other Clemson WR signee...or signee period. Yes, that includes Charone Peake, Mike Bellamy, Lateek Townsend, and Martavis Bryant. You just cannot teach that speed.
Well...really, the point remains, though. Either he was fearless, or paid off, or just loved Clemson. My point, though, was Barnett has options, and doesn't know Michigan from Adam, other than enough interest to get him here. I'm not saying we CAN'T get him. My whole point is that he's my #1 choice. But if anyone's heard something about him showing us any preference, they're more informed than I.
He is friends with Antonio Poole from their visit to Miami (YTM) together. So that may be working to our advantage, plus our depth chart must help at least somewhat.
Apparently fearless is good business at Clemson...
...paid off you say?
If Watkins has more speed than Bellamy is can't be much. Bellamy is listed at a 4.31 on scouts and a 4.4 on rival. We play Charlotte High School every year so I assure you that there are not too many fakes out of 5 on those times.
That was my vote, I've actually heard of him. Most of the other guys are mysteries until their Hello post.
Not sure I believe that statement Mr. 19,597 points...
I only listen to members of the 30,000 point club.
But I don't think Tom is part of the 30,000 club.......
Seriously, I skip over the recruiting posts. I can't follow it. The Nowicki and Petro kids on the two posts below...no idea.
Ray Lewis Jr.
If we are talking about Jrs. how about Barry Sanders Jr. in the 2012 class.
from South Carolina would be amaizing, but no chance.
It won't happen, but it would be really cool if Kris Frost had a change of heart on signing day.
Just felt like looking at his facebook profile for old times sake, and while he is 100% auburn, it was nice to see his most recent status saying "yes michigan state lost to big blue!!!" of course he had to end it with "WAR EAGLE" ..
Guess he wasn't that much of a fan.
Of course, I jest. I would have liked to seem him come to AA. Seems like a good kid. Best of luck to him.
I think it would be some awesome shit if Chris Barnett committed. With the new offense, TE is going to be important, and a guy as talented as Barnett could find himself in the rotation as a freshman. I think it's a bit of a longshot but would be huge.
I would also say Darian Cooper, but with the good vibes from GM's in-home, I'm starting to feel this wouldn't be a "Hail Mary" pick up.
Agreed, I think Cooper is pretty much a done deal this weekend. I think we get Clark and Willingham but my hope is we get Barnett and Fisher. Barnett I think may be the longer shot but would be a solid pickup. Having a 4* TE at 6'6" 245 would make a nice target for DRob.
Any hail-mary has to have a chance to happen.
If anyone should know that .. it's Michigan fans :(
Maybe Ray Hamilton? I remember hearing he really liked Michigan but didn't like the use of tight ends in the spread. I realize there has been no mention of him lately though and obviously no visits.
I think the latest Iowa scandal should give recruits some pause.
Late Michigan pitch to Ray Hamilton:
"We use TE's again, our helmet has wings, and you aren't likely to end up in the hospital with potential long-term kidney damage."
You'd think that might give some Iowa commits a moment of hesitation. On the topic, what the hell was Iowa thinking in their press conference having neither Kirk Ferentz or an S&C coach on hand? Iowa apparently skimps on a P.R. department...
I think Hamilton's main thread to Michigan was, ironically enough, RR. With him gone, we have the offense he wants..just not the coach.
I don't know if any of the recruiting sites are still ranking James Wilder or Malcolm Brown ahead of him, but they can just go and service my genitalia for all I care. That dude's the best RB in America, no exceptions.
Rivals even has Brandon Williams ahead of him.
Rivals detests anyone who's under 6', though.
Brandon Williams could give Crowell a run for his money...I guess Malcolm Brown too. I just don't see anyone with the speed/power/acceleration combo he's got.
north Georgia seem to think he's there's. Richt is on major hot seat (somewhat incredibly, IMO, given what he's done there) but he's absolutely killed it with in state kids this year. Drew, Rome, Mitchell, Swann, Dantzler, Marshall, etc. Going to end up with top 10 class, maybe top 5 if he lands Crowell, and 18 or 19 of those kids will be from the state.
SHOCK THE WORLD!
One day too late
That's what he wants you to think.
SHOCK THE WORLD!
Question. Is it an NCAA violation to use inception on a recruit?
This is one of those deals where the first one in gets away with it. It's not in the rule book yet, so let's start screwing with some brains and get us some 5*'s...
I wish that could be my ringtone!
Kris Frost would be a dream, I still can't believe we lost him. Thought after the Mattison hire he'd be blue for sure. Arghhhhh!!
me it would be Timmy, the DT from Florida!!!
Can we greyshirt him?
roderick ryles based on hair alone and as a middle finger to AMSHG
Any 4 or 5 star Free Safety. Any.
About 30 minutes longer than expected...
One or the other would be nice.
That would have to be jadeveon clowney, obviously he has no interest in michigan. Could you imagine the crying buckeye fans if he put on a michigan hat?
Hell, I'd be crying too. Like Christmas all over again. I might just head to the Big House and spray paint some x's on the field to show Clowney all the places to bury Terrelle Pryor come November.
LB. Rivals says Grant reminds them of Ray Lewis. Let's get some final mileage out of the GMAT connections.
This will never happen BTW.
A better question might be who won't sign or gain admission. After all the hoopla for DD last year, I think this class looks pretty solid in this respect.
Brady Hoke out when it comes to recruiting....
What cha gonna do brother??
Clinton-Dix....I can dream, right?
After Lucien and Flowers were told thanks but no thanks
I fell in live with his youtube highlights, the guy is a monster 6'6 230 pounds
I saw him play in S.C. and whoever gets him is like winning the lotto. That kid is a genetic freak. I will freak out if he ends up at Alabama. I know that Lewan could handle him but i went to Clemson and would rather see him there,
He's not going to Clemson.
I'm crossing my fingers for South Carolina
Jernigan. I think we have a great chance with Cooper, but I'd love to pick up both of 'em.
I wish I could +1 the original post for the proper grammar on the "who's" but I can for several reasons
have to say I have no idea what you are saying...assuming you are saying something
gotta love the irony
RoJo. But maybe Tebow. Personally, i think they're both ours
Any highly rated recruit currently committed to Ohio State. Would be great to see Hoke steal a recruit from the vest.
Barry Sanders Jr. and Dee Hart in the same backfield.
Deion Sanders and Charles Woodson= locked down
Cooper may be a future beast but either of these guys would be an immediate impact on the line
I guess you didn't get the memo:
We are not taking a wideout in this class
Trey Depriest, he was a UM fan growing up so if anyone could be flipped it can be him
Play the Mattison card on him and steal little sister's best recruit from them. Now that would be sweet. (note - with the Bryant commit UM has passed MSU in team rankings even though UM has 4 fewer commits)
Or Tyrone Wheatley.
Ok... FOUR THINGS. Those in-the-know, please comment on the following...
1. I was watching ESPN Recruiting yesterday, and it showed Clowney and the short list of five teams he was interested in included was MICHIGAN.... AND that he is extending his recruiting until his birthday mid February, so maybe another two weeks we can get him.
2. the past few days, Coach Hoke while visiting the prospects.... his plane yesterday stopped in COLUMBUS. Who is there?????
3. The plane a few days ago, I think between trips to Phoenix and Chicago, stopped in KANSAS. What big recruit is in Kansas?????
4. Word is we recently offered a guy named Grigsby, but I know nothing of him.
Thus, the Hail Mary recruit, may evolve from those four facts above. Post away folks.
1. Clowney isn't happening. We'd all love for that to be the biggest coup in history but he's a lock to either the local schools or an SEC school. Probably South Carolina.
2. We have 3 commits in the Columbus area. Could have been visiting any one of them.
3. My guess is fuel since it was on the ground for 30 mins.
4. The only Grigsby listed on Rivals is Nicholas Grigsby, a 4* OLB from Trotwood-Madison. Looks like he could be a decent prospect but we've got 3 LB's already and 2 more who have been rumored as silent commits. Wouldn't expect a hail mary to be at linebacker unless it was Thomas or DePriest or something.
thanks for that info, especially on kansas. but one thing on clowney... why would espn have michigan in his short list of five????? i was surprised seeing that, and it appeared it was his most recent data, because they were doing a piece on him and they said he extended his recruitment. this is not a case of wishful thinking, for i did not expect to see michigan listed in his top five, on the tv screen. in fact, it was i think third on the list (but i doubt it was in order of preference).
Because even though ESPN has improved in their recruiting coverage, they're still awful at it. Or it was a misprint.
Maybe he wanted to see Chris Rock Live! I've seen him live, and must say, it's better than TV.
wayne lyons please
