Who's got good news about the team?

I need something to distract me. Who's got good news about the team or the school or something? I just found out that my former boss, and one of my best friends, in the past week has had to have his knee replaced, and then just on Saturday, his two year old grandson died completely unexpectedly in his sleep.

It hit me like a ton of bricks and I have zero energy or anything now. I'm just... gone. So how about some tidbit you've been holding back. Do you know a player who had something cool to say? Did you eat at Blimpie Burger with Richard Ash and watch him eat 4 quints with egg?

We are 3-0 and our QB is in contention for the Heisman.  With Bowling Green coming into town, followed by a relatively unscary Big Ten opener, we should be 5-0 heading into the heart of the schedule.

BALL for the interception and the punter doesn't fumble the snap, the 4th qtr would have been much different and a no one would be grumbling, at least not as much.

Finding out now who is ready to play and who is not is invaluable:

1) Gallon is not ready to be our punt return man right now

2) We can plan on going for it on 4th down from 20-35 yards out because we do not have anyone who can kick field goals.

3) Defense can see there mistakes and learn from them.

4) Iowa game seams a lot more winnable.

ImSoBlue,

4 great points.  Gallow is definitely ready on the return.  I like Stonum on the KO return.  He hasn't been breaking many, but he also is consistently getting us past the 25, so fine.  We desparately need a punt return specialist.  We have a ton of these fist guys - why are none of them being talked about?

As for field goal kicking, yes, at this point, the only time I would attempt one on 4th down is if we are (1) in the redzone, (2) well centered on the field, and (3) the distance for first down is more than 5.  Otherwise, I think we are a 4 down team from anywhere within opposing team's 40.  I am sort of psyched about this, since there have been more than 1 mathematical studies into this on this blog indicating that this is the stastically proper move, anyway.

On Saturday I ran into Hemingway jr at the game and he said he was having fun at practices and I told him his dad was a hell of a player and Go Blue and thanks for the commitment. He is tall (obvsly), but really much taller than I thought. So, like, that is good?

Also ran into Tate and Jerald Robinson walking around aimlessly after the game on Main St. They walked around the house and then back down the driveway and I told him to get off my lawn. He never stopped talking on his cell phone. Jerald did wave and nod his head when I asked him if he was Jerald Robinson. I was wasted.

I was going to do a Professor Farnsworth bit here, but apparently image sourcing doesn't like my images. Anyway, sorry for the rough news. Be thankful that you're healthy and by happy that the team you love isn't in the dumps and has a winning record.

Also, think about how miserable Domer fans must feel. Can I get a "LOL"?

The good news on the team is that the only injury in the UMass game was an apparently nonserious injury to Banks.

son, and we wish him well in recovering from his procedure. I think this qualifies more as a silver lining than as good news but coming out of the UMASS close call I see it as highly positive that we have a likely win to work out more defensive kinks with next week, and as gentle as B10 opener as one could hope for (no gimme) before taking on MSU. I don't take MSU as a must-win at all, but I am very amped for that game this year; realistically, we could not hope for a better path to it, given what has come to now.

My dad had a knee replaced a few months back and it's worked out great for him. They've made huge strides in that procedure in the last decade or so. My dad's leg is good as new--he's like Roboleg now.

As for the boy, that's tragic. I have a two year old son--stories like that just rip my heart out.
