Who wins more games? Lions or Wolverines
So who ya Got??? By the numbers the Lions have more opportunities so you would think more wins. However, the Lions still have to play Green Bay twice, have to go to New Orleans, and go to Chicago to face a Bears team that will want revenge.
Michigan plays 3 of their last 5 at home. The last couple years life on the road in the BI0 has been a killer . . . can we get 1 or even 2 big ones on the road in November?
Sticking with regular seasons only, no playoffs(Please, Please, Please!!!) and no bowl game I say its dead even with a magic # of 9 wins for both.
Thoughts???

They have more chances to win. Therefore the Lions. Pretty easy.

Please remember, at the the end of the day, they're still the Lions. Until the make it to the playoffs multiple years in a row and get past the 1st rnd in at least one of them, I refuse to have an iota of faith in the Lions. Everytime I believe in them, it always ends in heartbreak.

I think these two teams are on an equal win total expectation this season: 8=disappointing but hard to feel too bad considering past few years; 9=about the same as eight except Lions call themselves "winners;" 10=feeling like it was a good season, playoffs/BCS or not; 11=fans have to feel satisfied, probably playoffs for Lions and possibly B1GCG and BCS for M.

Satisfied at Michigan winning 11? I would be absolutely ecstatic. I'm going to go witht he Lions, but it's close. I think the Lions have 8 wins by beating Denver, Carolina and Minnesota. They probably get swept by the Packers (but I could see them pulling one out on Thanksgiving). The rest of the season looks fairly close, but I think they'll get to 10 wins.
I think Michigan goes 3-2 the rest of the way, but who the hell knows.
October 25th, 2011 at 1:55 PM ^
you would be disappoint with 9 wins from either the Lions or MICH?
October 24th, 2011 at 6:04 PM ^
They will win 14 (in the regular season), while Michigan will only win 11 (in it's 'regular season')
October 24th, 2011 at 6:10 PM ^
If bowl games don't count, then it better be the Lions, unless M has a fantastic season.
October 24th, 2011 at 6:16 PM ^
Considering how the past few years have gone for both teams, 8-9 wins would thrill me for either team.
October 24th, 2011 at 6:20 PM ^
They tie each other at 10.
October 24th, 2011 at 6:33 PM ^
The Lions win 11 MICH wins 11, tie ball game. Who are we sending in to pinch hit?
October 24th, 2011 at 6:45 PM ^
Lions. I think they will win 10 games and I think Michigan wins 9
October 24th, 2011 at 6:47 PM ^
Lions have more opportunities to win, so Lions win more.
October 24th, 2011 at 7:17 PM ^
MIchigan 12-1
Lions 17-2
So, lions

*13-1 for Michigan. Don't forget about the BTCG
October 24th, 2011 at 7:57 PM ^
We probably won't make the B1G championship game even if we win out.
October 24th, 2011 at 8:03 PM ^
But a man can dream. Can't he?
October 24th, 2011 at 8:57 PM ^
Plus the Rose Bowl win.
October 24th, 2011 at 9:10 PM ^
But we are only going to play 14 games at most all year, (12 regular season +1 bowl game +1 BTCG). Unless you are suggesting that the NCAA is going to switch to a Plus-one format, in which case, awesome, we'd win the National Championship.
October 24th, 2011 at 9:32 PM ^
Yeah right. After they lose this weekend and to Minnesota we will be fine.
October 24th, 2011 at 9:05 PM ^
I'd say the Lions are better than half of their remaining opponents and as good as the rest, except the Pack. We're in a slightly worse situation than that, and considering the fact that the Lions get more game I'll take Detroit with 10-11 wins while UM gets 9
October 24th, 2011 at 11:19 PM ^
As good as the Saints? In New Orleans?
October 25th, 2011 at 9:13 AM ^
While the second half of their schedule is tough, they should def hit double digit wins. (Hopefully!) Michigan will hit at least 9 in the regular season.
Lions' wins: Denver, Carolina, Minne, Oakland or SD(not both) and @Green Bay (they will be resting their guys as they will have clinched home field throughout.)
Lions' definite losses: GB (Thanksgiving) and at NO.
October 25th, 2011 at 1:59 PM ^
the Lions have not won in Green Bay since 1991, even with starters resting a dozen times since then. I'll take the Thanksgiving redemption first, plz.
October 24th, 2011 at 9:16 PM ^
Before the season, I thought the Lions would win 9 games. I think they'll get to that. I also think that we'll lose two more of our remaining games. So the answer is neither, both will get 9.

"I say its dead even with a magic # of 9 wins for both."
October 24th, 2011 at 10:11 PM ^
I think Michigan has at least two more wins left on their schedule, so they'll outdo the Lions' seven wins this year.
October 24th, 2011 at 10:45 PM ^
Lions will win more. Hands down. Both have great winning seasons. Michigan has a better win %.
October 24th, 2011 at 10:54 PM ^
I still think Sparty will lose a game they should win. If we win out, we still have a chance. My guess is that we will lose two more games. Worried about IA on the road and losing one at home. I think we'll take IL on the road. I'll be happy if both teams win 10 games.
Realistically, Lions 10 wins, Michigan 9 wins.
October 24th, 2011 at 11:14 PM ^
It's kind of sickening to see people expecting M at 9 wins.
October 24th, 2011 at 11:22 PM ^
It seems realistic from here on out honestly.
Look who we are playing:
Purdue (winnable), Iowa (winnable), Illinois (a winnable game, they haven't looked so hot in the past couple weeks), Nebraska (our hardest game IMHO, likely a loss) and Ohio (I think this game is going to be harder than everyone is giving it credit for, possibly a toss up, but I'm waiting until after this weeks game to come up with a verdict for them).
Yes, the board will err on the side of optimism, but it's a Michigan board so what do you expect.
October 25th, 2011 at 2:46 AM ^
Hmmm..I read that post as saying sickening as in we should expect better. Like 10 or 11 wins. But maybe you're right.
October 25th, 2011 at 2:48 AM ^
I was considering bowl games. Forgot that the OP wasn't considering those. Disregard.
October 25th, 2011 at 8:17 AM ^
Michigan will finish 12-2, so who am I as a mere mortal to argue?
Michigan wins more games than Lions.....
October 25th, 2011 at 10:32 AM ^
They'll tie at 10 wins if you count the bowl game; if not, then Lions by 1.
October 25th, 2011 at 1:45 PM ^
Lions play four more games, and yet... they're the Lions, and after losing these last two, I think they'll unfortunately start to play a little bit like those 'same ol Lions' before they pick themselves back up, win a few, but then lose their first game in the playoffs. In short: they'll lose a couple more, and ultimately end up 12-5.
In addition, I think that with continual improvement [coaching, and we have the guys to do it] Michigan has a chance to win out--with the biggest question mark, in my optimistic mind, being Iowa---and although I think they prolly lose the B10 Championship if they get a shot at it, I see that (either the loss or the snub) turning into motivation for a bowl victory. 12-1 or 12-2.
Call me unreasonably optimistic if you want (as a Michigan fan), or too cynical as a Lions fan, but I say its a tie at 12.
