Who should wear the Wistert brothers #11 Saturday?

By now, you know the drill. Who should wear Francis, Albert and Alvin Wistert's #11? I say Quinton Washington. He has been having a remarkable season. Plus, all 3 of the Wistert brothers played tackle.

Saturday will be the final Legends jersey honoring that will take place this season.

When the ADept sells special jerseys and gear, you'll see my picture next to the targeted customer crowd. A sheep.....but a Blue one.....

It's a shame Lewan can't wear it, or I would say him.

I'd give it to Roh since he's been playing well this year after all he's been through and all the positions he's been asked to play over the past four years.

I remember reading that it had to do with his family not being available to participate.  Both of his kids are actors/entertainers and grandkids are those ass-clowns Nelson, so they were likely singing on the deck of a cruise ship somewhere.

I think they should give out the number to 3 players, one on offense, one on defense, and one special teamer, because there were three Wistert brothers who wore #11. I'd go with J.T. Floyd on defense just because his #8 doesn't stand out to me and Magnus would be pissed. On offense, I like Dileo, and for special teams, maybe Wile.

Can't do Dileo and Wile.  Dileo is still the holder (right?) and Wile is the long FG kicker.  It would be a penalty, probably knocking us out of FG range, and in all likelihood costing us the game.  Or something like that...

I logged in to say that, but I'll just add that whoever you give it to wouldn't be able to play on pretty much any special teams together, including kick off and punt coverage and returns. You wouldn't want them to even practice because you don't want to accidentally send both out there. Also, I believe these players are supposed to keep the numbers until they graduate. So, you wouldn't be able to have your special teams guy ever play outside of special teams.

I think it's a really cool idea, but I just don't see it working.

EDIT: On second thought, maybe just one on offense and one on defense would work. You could have a Tight End and a Defensive Tackle. Kwiatkowski take it on offense (until the end of the year and then give it to Funchess next year) and give it to Washington or Pipkins on Defense. 11 would really stand out at both positions.

Just a hunch, but my guess is Gallon.  Would be a nice number for a receiver/returner/jetsweeper.  Plus, Gallon has one more year and is well-respected it seems by the coaches (albeit so is QWash).  I just don't see #11 going to a D-tackle but I could be wrong.

Also, it's not like they are really matching positions for these honors...Gerald Ford to Desmond Morgan and Oosterbaan to Ryan (yes Oosterbaan played some D but primarily known as an end) ends that argument.

I'm going with the darkhorse here: Gibbons.

11 looks kind of like a kicker's number and plus, Gibbons has the frame of a tackle to pull it off.  He's been impressing lately and I think he's due for one of these "legends" numbers.

Seems like if they give it to a tackle, it would make the most sense to give it to Quinton Washington.

I could see Roh as well or maybe a corner. I'm pretty sure it won't be an offensive player though.

This is why the Legends Jersey isea falters in execution to a degree. To this point, it all worked out. A WR can wear #21, obviously, and a tight end can still wear #87. #47 and #48 work because while Oosterbaan and Ford are better known for their offensive positions, both played before two-platoon football, so they played defense as well (Ford at linebacker and Oosterbaan at defensive end). But the last two numbers, #11 and yet-to-be-unretired #98 have no obvious solution. While the NCAA uniform number rules are flexible, #11 and #98 are now associated with different positions from the guys who made them legendary. 11 is a WR/QB/RB number while 98 is a DL/K/P number. I suppose Harmon did some kicking and punting in his day, but it would be odd to see a skill position player sporting #11 made famous by three brothers who played tackle or #98 being worn by a defensive tackle or a kicker.

(#98 has not been released by the Harmon family, but it has to be considered.)

Hail to the college whose colors we wear,

Hurrah for the Yellow and Blue!
