Who held for FG and XP attempts?

Submitted by oakapple on

Was it Drew Dileo again, or someone else? Regardless of who held, was there anything wrong with the placement on the two FG attempts, or did Gibbons just whiff?

Does anyone else find it strange that an athlete like dileo is holding instead of a punter like we're used to? I predict fake field goal runs and passes at some point this year.

I suspect the objective is simply to get a good placement and hold. People tend to underestimate holding. It is not a trivial thing to do. I am assuming Dileo did it in high school, and Hagerup didn't.

Now, I am sure that Michigan, like every team, has a fake FG play in its repertoire. But with Dileo a true freshman, I doubt you are going to see trick plays off a FG/XP attempt any time soon. At some point before season's end, we probably will.

It was Dileo back there, and I fully expect RR to utilize him with a fake sometime this year, preferrably to beat the Suckeyes.  He's a talented kid who I thought would redshirt when Gallon won the punt returning duties.  I can't see why RR would burn his redshirt just for holding duties, surely someone else could man the helm.  RR is cooking up some crazy madness

I don't mind at all using up his redshirt for that purpose. I can understand getting upset if a redshirt is burned for inconsequential plays. But every FG or XP attempt is a potential scoring play. If he's the best guy to do it, he should be in there.
