Who Has the 2nd Best Football Helmet?

Oldest son just got his brand new football helmet ahead of summer workouts and it is a dandy - a winged helmet, albeit with the wrong colors.   Of course we all know the greatest helmet in the universe:

But the question became what is the second best helmet?   For the college teams, some of the (2nd) favorites were the Navy's alternate helmet, Notre Dame's new gold-chrome one, USC's, and some of the older Northwestern helmets (emotional pick).  

For the pros, the Lions are winners, but others included the Patriots, the Chargers (blue ones), the Bears, and Green Bay.

So the question is:  Which helmet(s) is your 2nd favorite, college or pro, old or new, alternate or standard?

No particular order:

Texas, ND (pre-chrome), ASU trident, PSU (in spite of see-no-evil JoePa), Staee (hate to admit the green/white combo is sharp, but not current w/tapered stripe, the one just prior), and UCLA (love that script, hate what adidas has done to the rest of a classy uni), 'Bama, Miami (both).

Have not seen any chrome helmets worth a damn, but I must say the matte combos are attractive.

I don't like the gold sparkles in ours. Pretty sure Tom Harmon's didn't have 'em, and hope they go away. Would like to see what ours would look like in all matte, instead of the 50-50 rolled out a few years ago in a bowl game (Miss State or S Caro?)

Bama is up there for sure because the "A" is just so sexy. UCLA is a great pick. Brigham Young's big "Y" in the oval is cool. Idaho is cool just because their team is called the Vandals and that's all the helmet says, and that rules. I like all those teams better than Texas. Not a big fan of burnt orange. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

But for my money the second-best helmet is LSU. Unique, instantly recognizable, bold, got the rondel that's just the tiger head. Just great all the way around.

Navy's alternate helmets this year was fantastic. I'm also a fan of the script UCLA helmet, boise state's alternate black helmet, and the Florida state helmet. Of the three, I think I like UCLA's the best.

You mean the Rams?  Or do you mean the CU Buffs?  As for the latter, their gold has got too much of a green tint to it.  I also don't like the "silver" they added to their jerseys.  Black and a proper gold is the best.

I loved UW's uniforms until they started messing with them maybe 10 years ago. I don't dig the white or purple pants, and I hate the white helmets. They should go back to the classic look: gold pants & purple jerseys at home, gold pants and white jerseys on the road, with the gold helmets for both.

It might be that I liked Florida a lot growing up (Spurrier and Wuerfel) but I love their unis/helmets. I similarly have a disdain for Florida State because I did not like Bowden and the seeming crookedness of the program even before I understood how crooked they really are/were.

I like ND's old gold helmet but the new chrome gold looks gaudy.  I also kind of like Maryland's because it's different.
