Who does the best UM play-by-play? How to stream it aligned with TV feed?

Submitted by Jacoby on

The season is upon us. The first few days of games is already under our collective belt, and the awful TV commentators have already triggered what has become an annual piercing whine from college football fans nationwide. I wonder if any of my fellow MGoFans have solved the conundrum of wanting to watch the game on TV, but wishing there was a way to get commentators other than those on TV. One problem with streaming a radio play-by-play is that there is a bad delay that renders such a set up worthless. I'll bet one of you youngsters has figured out the computer to solve this! So how do you do it? Let's do it this way:

1.

Who are your favorite (current!) play-by-play announcers for Michigan football (radio and TV)?

2.

Who has figured out how to set up an internet stream in such a way to coincide with the timing of the action on TV? Is there a program or application to facilitate this?

(Also, for those of you who say that there is a "Sticky" MGoBoard post about this, the post does not handle how to fix the delay problem. In addition, I want to trigger discussion about who are people's favorite commentators and why.)

You would have to somehow hold the radio feed back so it could bunch with the TV feed because all TV is delayed compared to radio.

I don't even know if that is possible.

It is impossible because of what you stated.

OP, the TV feed is too delayed. I used to do this for Browns games when I was a kid. TV wasn't delayed back then and its feed along with the radio were synced perfectly. Doesn't work anymore, especially with satellite dishes, which are even more delayed than cable.

my buddy's step-mother makes $85/hour on the computer. She has been unemployed for six months but last month her paycheck was $17025 just working on the computer for a few hours. her response

This is the holy grail. Just give up. Braver/smarter men than you and I have tried and failed to unearth it.

Just live with the delay, or put up with Matt Millen.

I like the livefeed, but it suffers from lack of insight. You have to read through 30 messages just to get one decent comment. It's basically a bunch of people bitching about Al Borges' play calling. I wish we could hear Ace, Heiko, and Brian's comments during the game. I hereby lobby them to give a good five minute halftime update, for the benefit of the rest of us.

Not sure by your post which is delayed, the tv or radio. Howeva, if you have a dvr, pause the game for however many seconds the delay is... Or, if you have a good enough stereo, you can delay the audio, but only for like up to 1/2 second or so.

This was one of the first things that came up after Googling. Looks helpful but I haven't tried it so use at your own risk. I think the delay is around 5-7 seconds and I only know this because my dad shares/shared the same attitude as you towards tv commentators and this is how I grew up watching Michigan football (when we weren't at the stadium of course). Hope it works out.

Thru a lucky break I'll be taking my 11-year old to the game. I'll have one of those Sansa mp3 FM radio thingies. Which FM station can I get in the stadium?
