Who do you want UM to play in the Insight Bowl?
So, after UM's upset on Saturday, the 6-6 record pretty much guarantees they will be in the Insight Bowl (a Minnesota loss to Iowa makes them 6-6, and since they went last year Insight would take the Wolverines, 6-6 Sparty would be picked to go to the ChampsSports over UM because of better conference record and head-to-head).
The Big 12 has a log jam of to be 7-5/6-6 teams that include Kansas, Kansas St., Missouri, Texas A&M, Iowa St., Texas Tech.
So, who do you want to play, and why?
NOTE: For those that want to take this thread as an invitation to bitch about the team, guarantee a loss to OSU, or call for coach firings can go scratch and move on.... Optimists don't want to hear it when we are planning our New Year's Eves around UM's bowl game!

Kansas my girlfriend is a huge fan and they seem to suck pretty bad now after their delicious cupcake opening.

With a healthy Forcier.

your post makes zero sense
if a 6-6 Sparty would be picked over UM, as you contend, wouldn't they go to the Insight bowl?

6-6 (4-4) MSU and 7-5 N'Western would go to the ChampsSports and Alamo. OSU Rose, PSU/Iowa/Wisco to the BCS/Cap One / Outback.
That leaves 6-6 Michigan and 6-6 Minnesota for the Insight/Pizza Bowl.

I disagree. They don't have to pick based upon league standings. Further, the idea that MSU would go to Champs is a bit flawed. Minnesota would have a head-to-head victory to jump MSU in reputation sake. MSU fans are resigned to Insight.

How about Kansas, the final score would wind up being 84-70 Michigan. Two very impressive offenses against two Meh defenses.
November 16th, 2009 at 2:53 PM ^
but our defense would have to improve ten fold to get to the point of being a "meh" defense. We are terrible, no sugarcoat.

I want a rematch with Michigan State. I want to settle the argement over who is the best 6-6 team in the country. Settle it on the field, as I always say.
The 6-6 National Championship.
Crazy, you say? Not so fast.
First, who you gonna put UM up against? (I admit I don't know the tie in, but also admit that the 47th place team from the Big 12 or SEC doesn't excite me at all)
I say you have THIS matchup and sell packages to both sets of fans, have a "green Out" a "Maize Out"--and take this rivalry to the next level.
Who's All In?

does not diminish its awesomeness in any way.

thx for that ... i really needed a little bit of optimism after the last month ... i had forgotten how to do it ... first I want the alamo bowl to give state the middle finger and pick us over them ... but if it is the insight bowl, I don't care who we play, a bowl would be sweet enough
November 16th, 2009 at 2:23 PM ^
anybody. i'd be so happy to be in a bowl i wouldn't care who we played.
November 16th, 2009 at 2:29 PM ^
a bowl game would be awesome...unless it's central michigan beating us in the pizza bowl. we'd never hear the end of that debacle.
November 16th, 2009 at 2:32 PM ^
Oh my god. Do not jinx us
November 16th, 2009 at 2:39 PM ^
Would be an absolute nightmare for our "defense". Avast, mateys! I'll take ISU or KSt. They seem fairly unenthusiastic about scoring lots of points.
November 16th, 2009 at 2:40 PM ^
Im gonna agree with "hailtothevictors08"...to have the Alamo bowl pick us over state, and then have state play in the hot and ready bowl would be hilarious.
November 16th, 2009 at 2:39 PM ^
If at all possible, I want the Alamo bowl. I have family there who works for the bowl game every year. Free tickets and a free place to stay, plus getting to go to the coaches' dinner.
November 16th, 2009 at 2:41 PM ^
Can we start a "what will you do if we beat OSU thread???"
B/c there pretty much isn't anything I wouldn't do.
November 16th, 2009 at 2:57 PM ^
If we get to a bowl game I will be beyond happy for two reasons. 1) we actually made it to a bowl game after a terrifying season. 2) The season must have ended with a victory over OSU. Regardless of our record or the outcome of said bowl game, I would consider this season a success if we could pull off the upset this saturday.
November 16th, 2009 at 3:21 PM ^
The most valuable part of any bowl game (esp. for a young team) is all of those extra practices you get.
That will be the biggest upside of this Saturday's victory, IMHE.

I would choose to play Iowa State because that is the most winnable game and there wouldn't be many ISU fans there.
But I'd rather go to the (ugh) Pizza Pizza Bowl, because then I could go to the game.
November 16th, 2009 at 4:22 PM ^
I think it would be delicious irony to play Texas Tech and shut them down.
November 16th, 2009 at 4:27 PM ^
Just think: we are only 132 plays/bounces of the ball from being undefeated and playing Florida for the NC. But I guess I would prefer to play ther worst possible team imaginable to get a win. That is what I have been reduced to.

I would like to see miami play notre dame
EDIT: Woops read the title without reading the actual post. If UM makes it, it won’t matter to me who they play. I’ll just be happy they are there. I don't want to see a mac school though.
