Who Do We Want - Rams or Ducks

Submitted by MtP Michigan Man on
Logic might say Rhode Island. But kind of like taking all comers and the higher seeds, and not play a Cinderella team. I am ready for this Michigan team to take on anyone - they are fearless and so damn gutsy. Thoughts?

Of course Rhode Island, Oregon is still dangerous even without their big man. They have played a lot of big games, Beilein could shut down the Rams with 4 days of prep.

If you Remember Rhode Island was preseason top 15 team they lost ECA Matthews for some games and that's when they lost games they are a real good team with 2 or 3 guys from Michigan. Oregon is a top 5 or 7 team. If you think about it If Michigan gets to the finals it has to be one of the toughest roads to get there ever. A way underseeded OSU team a top 8 team in Louisville either Oregon or Rhode Island then most likely Kansas the. North Carolina then Probably Zona Duke or the Zags. that means every team is a top 10 team except OSU. Rhode Island is top 15 and way underseeded also.
I am hoping this is a team of Destiny Like Kembas Uconn team.

Taking URI.  I don't know if we "want" them, though.  Oregon is wounded and if we can take Louisville we can take Oregon without their shot blocker and just all-around best athlete.

Oddly enough, those are the two teams we should've played to get to the Sweet 16 as a #6 seed in the midwest.

But how are you asking if we want two teams with such a seed disparity? Either you want the perceived easy road or you want the tough road.

I want for a brutal bloodbath of a game...don't really care who wins.

You play Oregon like Purdue.  Brooks will get his, box-out and out execute them.

URI play straight up.

Kansas you also play straight up with some of the L'ville second half game plan to mix it up against their bigs.  Irvin becomes Jackson's second jersey.

The other two jokers we know.

A lot of people don't realize all the good hunters do with charitable programs like Hunters for the Hungry and their contributions to conservation. As the US Fish and Wildlife Service notes:

"What do hunters do for conservation?

"A lot. The sale of hunting licenses, tags, and stamps is the primary source of funding for most state wildlife conservation efforts.

"By respecting seasons and limits, purchasing all required licenses, and paying federal excise taxes on hunting equipment and ammunition, individual hunters make a big contribution towards ensuring the future of many species of wildlife and habitat for the future. By paying the Federal excise tax on hunting equipment, hunters are contributing hundreds of millions of dollars for conservation programs that benefit many wildlife species, both hunted and non- hunted.

"Each year, nearly $200 million in hunters' federal excise taxes are distributed to State agencies to support wildlife management programs, the purchase of lands open to hunters, and hunter education and safety classes. Proceeds from the Federal Duck Stamp, a required purchase for migratory waterfowl hunters, have purchased more than five million acres of habitat for the refuge system (2005 statistics only); lands that support waterfowl and many other wildlife species, and are usually open to hunting.

"Local hunting clubs and national conservation organizations work to protect the future of wildlife by setting aside thousands of acres of habitat and speaking up for conservation in our national and state capitals."

At this point I don't think it matters anymore. Doesn't seem to matter, we've taken out the best offense and one of the best defenses in the last 48 hours...

Those early round upsets can benefit us and give us an easy game next before a tough game to make the final 4.

Sorry I've already moved on past either of those 2 thinking about how to matchup with Kansas which is basically Oklahoma State with a pinball lightning bug PG,  who plays defense unlike OKST.

URI easy. I want the path of least resistance. Oregon without Boucher is beatable, but still a really good team and better than URI.

After that I want to play Purdue. We know we can beat them, even on a neutral floor. It's hard to go 3-0 against 1 team, but it's also hard to beat Kansas. And in the scenario we lose, I'd rather it be to Purdue and see a B1G team in the final four.

I cover Atlantic 10 basketball, so hopefully I can provide a little insight into Rhode Island.  The best Big Ten comparison I can draw is Minnesota.  They don't shoot the three particurally well, and do most of their damage inside. Of course, they dont have as a dominant big man like Minnesota does, but they are still dangerous.  When URI gets hot from three, which is rare, but it happens, they can beat anyone because they still get theirs in the paint. They have guards in EC Matthews and Kuran Iverson that can take games over. They are athletic and long.  While I think this is a prefered matchup to Oregon, they are not a push over by any means.

I know we don't see it this way but aren't we kind of a Cinderella in this tournament? It's hard to view a power five that way but think about the storyline, seeding, and the run. THE RUN!

chances against either team next game.  Neither team is as good as Louisville, and Oklahoma State probably better than Oregon with their injury, and Rhode Island.
