I actually can't stand him.
I think it's the same guy who does PA at Comerica for Tigers games, too.
January 17th, 2010 at 4:40 PM ^
Zaaaackkkk Noooooooooooovaaaaaakkkk = Currrtisss GRRRRRRRRAAAAnnnnderson
At least, it used to.
January 17th, 2010 at 3:51 PM ^
Another Three Point-hhherrrrr!!
Shut. The. Fuck. Up.
January 17th, 2010 at 3:52 PM ^
"He's got the Wright stuff!"
January 17th, 2010 at 3:53 PM ^
Nothing should be changed about the football game announcing.
January 17th, 2010 at 4:00 PM ^
Seconded. I think the rawk music shows us how quickly things can change for the worse.
January 17th, 2010 at 4:33 PM ^
I have one thing to say about the football game announcing.
"First Down, Mike Hart"
January 17th, 2010 at 3:55 PM ^
I don't like him either...it's too MSU. He annoys the shit out of me at Comerica Park...BAA-RAAN-DON IIIIIIIIIINGE! Terrible.
January 17th, 2010 at 4:18 PM ^
I'll have you know our announcer would never announce a layup as "COAST TO COAST BY [insert player here, drag out name for twelve seconds]!!!!!!!!!!"
(Edited; apparently the forum software doesn't like angle brackets.)
January 17th, 2010 at 4:18 PM ^
I think "it's too NBA" would be most accurate. After all, the NBA is the league that allows arenas play various annoying sounds while the game is actually happening.
January 17th, 2010 at 7:02 PM ^
the PA announcer at Comerica. It sounds cool.
I'll probably get aton of negs after this.
January 17th, 2010 at 3:55 PM ^
I'm not a fan of partisan announcers who try to create a home atmosphere. The announcer should be purely informational, and the crowd should be able to provide the atmosphere on its own.
January 17th, 2010 at 4:18 PM ^
pistons announcer? Deeeetrooittt BASKETBALL! How can u not like that?
January 17th, 2010 at 5:22 PM ^
I would love to see Mason get a one-game announcing stint at Crisler and all the wacky nicknames he'd make up for the starters.
"The small forward out of DEEETROIT, wearing the MAIZE AND BLUE NUMBAH THREEEEE, MAN-NYYYY freaky deaky FRESHHHHHH HAR-RISSSSSS!!"
and let's not forget "MICH-I-GAN BAS-KET-BALL!!"
January 17th, 2010 at 3:57 PM ^
He is who we thought he is.
January 17th, 2010 at 3:58 PM ^
And we let him off the hook?
January 17th, 2010 at 4:01 PM ^
Count me amongst those who find him beyond annoying. It falls in line with the false excitement of a turnover being brought to you by BELLE TIRE. Gross.
I know Carl Grapentine at one time did a classical radio show in... Illinois I think it was. I wouldn't be against throwing some money at him to move him to MI to do the basketball PA as well as the football PA. He's like butter.
January 17th, 2010 at 4:32 PM ^
Carl is still on the radio, WFMT 98.7 in Chicago. He's done it for ages and I doubt he'd want to give it up. I love his voice, but it'd be really hard on him to do basketball too.
January 17th, 2010 at 4:05 PM ^
such as suggesting that the comerica/"who wants some free PIIZIZZZZZZZAAAaaaA?!!!!!" guys is awesome.
January 17th, 2010 at 4:15 PM ^
His name is Bob. I dont know his last name or anything, but he is a pretty cool guy (Ive been in the front row right behind him all year).
January 17th, 2010 at 4:39 PM ^
Weird, I thought his name was Lamey McHighpitch.
January 17th, 2010 at 4:22 PM ^
but he'll never leave the Cubs.
January 17th, 2010 at 4:27 PM ^
Bobb Vergiels. He apparently gets around quite a bit.

January 17th, 2010 at 4:41 PM ^
He's not THAT bad. I mean, sure there are some lame parts to his, you know, performance, but in general Michigan b-ball could do a whole lot worse.
Anyone else notice he changed the emphasis on Manny Harris to Manny now? (he dragged out the Harris before, I just thought the change was interesting)
Either way, thank goodness we're moaning about this and not a LOSS.
January 17th, 2010 at 4:42 PM ^
Agreed...NBA fits better.
January 17th, 2010 at 5:21 PM ^
I think you're a shoe-in for best avatar, at least IMO.
January 17th, 2010 at 4:42 PM ^
Agreed...NBA fits better.
January 17th, 2010 at 4:55 PM ^
The new hockey guy is too Specs Howard for my taste too. It seems like only a matter of time before "Its a beautiful day for some foooootttballl" at Michigan Stadium as well.
January 17th, 2010 at 5:18 PM ^
As was previously said, his name is Bob and he's a really friendly guy. I agree that he's far cry from PA announcers like Budd Lynch, but I'm still ok with his announcing style.
January 17th, 2010 at 5:26 PM ^
When the team is playing as bad as it WAS, you have to try and do something to get the crowd into it. The dude is just being a team player. Besides, it's basketball.
January 17th, 2010 at 7:19 PM ^
that we were having monster truck rallies at Crisler now. This guy is horrid.
