Who is this coach?
Parallels?
Parallels.
Potential coaching candidate for one of the most prestigious football programs in college history has his team on the forefront of a potential National Championship berth heading into a game with the University of Pittsburgh.
Who is this coach?
None other than Brian Kelly of UC.
I can't believe we didn't see the signs earlier... Brian Kelly... yes... Is the new head football coach... yes... for Notre Dame... yes... After he loses to Pitt.... yes....

Thanks for posting.
EDIT: Oh, I get it. Cool, man.

Parallelisms to our own football program. The whole ordeal with RichRod and WVU one game away from a spot in the BCS Championship game before they played Pitt and lost.
EDIT: Yeah... Sorry it is kinda loopy but it's meant to be.

Why did you go all "knowledge" on us there at the end? Weird.

I think you mean to say parallels.

You are correct. Thank you sir.

but Cincy isn't getting to any NC game unless a couple of things fall in their favor. WV was locked for the game with a win.

You are now entering, The Twilight Zone.

Would be even better if his loss vaulted ND's top candidate into the title game, making him ungettable and thus making kelly the top candidate. If only cinci was ahead of texas and TCU...

ESPN is recording that ND is looking for a defensive-minded coach and that they are "not interested" in Kelly.
But of course, it's ESPN and they were 100% accurate on our own coaching search a couple of years back....

Another knock on Kelly is that he campaigned for John Kerry and is apparently pro-choice, which for obvious reasons would make him less than perfect to some ND alums.

I disagree.
See: Notre Dame's 2009 commencement speaker.
Their resistance will fall if the name is big enough. E-fact.

between inviting the President of the United States to speak and hiring someone who doesn't share your core beliefs. I'm not saying they won't hire Kelly, but I think the analogy fails.

And look at all the protests that happened both when they announced that, and when he was there, and that was for the president. There is a portion of the fan base that will not accept Brian Kelly at all because of this.

isn't playing for a birth in the National Championship.
But the parallel was a good attempt.

A win over Pitt will almost certainly allow Cinci to jump TCU in the BCS. After that, all it would take for Cinci play for a MNC would be for Texas to lose and for the SEC title game to be a bit lopsided. Highly unlikely? Yes. Impossible? most definitely not.

while not an exact parallel, ill continue by adding in the caveat of another coach competing for a national championship (stoops/miles) who came out and denied any rumors of going to vacancy (instead preparing for nebraska or ar-kansas)
