Who are you looking forward to play the most from this recruiting class?

Submitted by goMichblue on
My personal favorite has to be Furman, I'm looking forward to seeing a linebacker with that kind of speed in GERG's defense. Hopefully he'll get some playtime. I'm guessing he'll play in Stevie Brown's position. Close second would be Carvin Johnson, gotta cheer for Wolverines from Louisiana, especially Metairie.

Dorsey #1, since he is probably the most important recruit of this class. Gardner #2. The country's #2 dual-threat QB prospect playing for a coaching staff that has an outstanding record of getting prolific production out of dual-threat QBs. Oh why oh why couldn't Devin Gardner have come around just two years earlier?

According to Rivals he is not the #1 Dual Threat. That position belongs to Cameron Newton. And I have yet to decipher the #1 overall QB, but that could also be Newton. Rivals had me under the assumption it was Phillip Sims.

Cameron Newton is the #1 JC-dual threat qb, and DG is the #1 dual threat from HS. Although he is a five star under that system he is in no way comparable to DG being the number 1 dual threat in this class. JUCO's are not a part of the Rivals100; therefore, not apart of the rankings of prospects by position. Also the top overall qb is Jake Heaps(BYU), followed by Philip Sims(ALA).

I dont think you can discount the fact that Demar Dorsey both athletically and physically is ready to play DB... The question with DBs that we all have, especially with the freshman, is are they mentally aware enough or will they bite on play fakes and take terrible angles to give up 40 yard runs to 4.6 RB's.

on D my fav so far is Furman. I'm really looking forward to watching him over the next few years. On offense Gardner obv, I think Miller will be a beast as well.

I can't wait for Dorsey to make that game-saving interception with .04 seconds left on the clock, which bolts this whole program (and everyone associated with it) into the #1 spot and a shot at the national title. I just cant wait for him to lift this program.

This coming year I expect to see MRob, DD, and Buck Nasty get some playing time. My hope is that MRob and DD can pick up the D quick enough that they along with Vlad can solidify the safety position so Woolfolk can go back to CB and Buck Nasty gets on the field as a nickel with some play at CB. I also expect at least two of the WRs to get playing time and hope one is Ricardo for all he has done already without stepping on the field. In the near future, Gardner, Furman, Rogers, and Ryan. I think they all RS and a year with Barwis and in the system will do them good. I see Rogers taking over Roh's spot and Roh becoming the next BG. Furman is off the charts athletically and I know we have ever had a LB with that type of speed. Finally, I can't wait to see Vinopal and Dileo. I think these two young man in particular have gotten a lion's share of the questions about their ability and can't wait to see them prove others wrong even if it is on special teams before contributing at their respective positions. I know there is excitement every year over the new recruits, but lets not forget about those who red shirted last year and will get their chance to make an impact this fall.

Carvin Johnson reminds you of Ronnie Lott and Demar Dorsey reminds me of Deion Sanders. Wouldn't it be great if we were both spot on in our comparisons? Michigan would be putting the hammer down on defense for the next three or four years. I am just looking forward to seeing the defense get back on its feet. Between last year's redshirts and all of the DB recruits, the defense could be the surprise of the year. There are so many kids who have a chance to step in early. To me, it all comes down to RR's statement that he doesn't recruit anyone to come to UM and be a backup. The competition should be fierce and the team will finally have depth at most positions. Then we can start worrying about some elite OL recruits for 2011.

Come on Tater, I have stated this is several past posts. Gotta give ya some love with this thread. I also believe that with the recruits from the 2.5 years now, this D is going to be much improved. Also the fact that they have managed to keep the DC around for more than one season for a change. This will be a much improved team.

this class overall has got to be one of my favorites in recent years due to the defensive players, furman, dorsey, robinson, cullen, etc. IMHO, this is the the kind of class that could lead to a Big Ten championship down the road after the players develop. Imagine these guys after a few years along with veterans death roh, big will, justin turner.

I think we can expect Christian, Dorsey (and I'll lump Turner in since he redshirted) to get a bunch of playing time at CB. Might be scary at times but gives me great hope thinking about how good the secondary will be in a couple years.

I will be very happy to see any of the new guys contribute to a defense that is, at least, less likely to give up the big play. Too much of that last year. Missed responsibilities, blown coverages, etc. If any of them can contribute that is great, I would love to see big Will adding more this year. Better LB and DB play will give us a couple of more games even if the offense does nothing different than last year.

Like you said, that's if the offense does nothing different. I think Forcier is going to develop alot more in year 2 and put up better numbers (not that his were bad by any means), especially in terms up picks and fumbles. I foresee us turning the ball over much less which will also help out the defense immensely.

Aside from the big time players and defensive guys I have to go with Dileo. I think he was brought in specifically for his return prowess. Which right now could just amount to catching and holding onto the ball (quite an upgrade). Nevertheless, I am looking for some serious improvement in this aspect of Michigan football. Next to the defensive blunders our return game has cost us a large share of losses the last 2 years. I am looking forward to seeing Dorsey do his No Fly Zone dance on his first collegiate pick. He will definitely get flagged, but I'll give him a pass on that first flag just to see him do that kooky dance again.

and say Drew Dileo, but the saavy MGoBlogNation has already picked up on that. I think Dileo may just be one of those "special team" aces type guys that immediately helps our return game, although he may not do anything in terms of traditional offense contributions.

For some reason I think Jake Ryan is going to be a steal looking back 3 or 4 years from now. Dude had like 100 tackles this year if I remember correctly and that was against great competition. He reminds me of a kid who should be playing LB for OSU a la AJ Hawk, James Lauranitis. Also, I'm like most people, if Dileo doesn't muff one punt this year he is worth the scholarship!

I can't wait to see what kind of player Josh Furman becomes. Demar Dorsey and Marvin Robinson as well. I love the speed Dorsey and Furman bring. Hopefully Gardner redshirts, then Vince Youngs the rest of college football for years. Hopefully Terrelle Pryor cries while watching him as well.

I'm looking forward to none of the defensive players except Christian and maybe Dorsey get significant playing time this Fall. Le these boys learn their game and then I will be thrilled to see them unleashed.

Nobody has thrown his name out there yet, but I'm going to have to say Stephen Hopkins. I just got excited to watch him play after watching his signing day video on Rivals. At first he was skeptical of what kind of role he could have in Rich Rod's offense. Then the coaches told him that he wants them to fill the Brandon Minor role. I think he can thrive especially in the two back system that we have.
