Whither Recruiting Podcast?

Submitted by MGoLow on

If memory serves, isn't there typically a recruiting roundup podcast with Steve Lorenz after NSD? Not trying to complain about free content, but it seems there's been a general lack of football talk around these parts lately from the fearless leader. I hope all is well with him and the MGoFamily.

General lack of football talk because there's nothing to talk about.

Discussion is kind of in a holding pattern until the coaching staff is finalized and everything about recruiting this class ended in December. Early signing day was our entire class. Do you want to talk about losing Otis Reese? I don't.

There are other sports happening. Diversify.

So Maize and Brew isn't terrible anymore in the recruiting department.  I don't care enough to know whether it's new staff or if they're just better at regurgitating others' work but it's been much improved.  Their X and Os may very well still be lacking but recruiting is on the upswing over there.

While we're spoiled here with free content, "more is more" as Harbaugh would say.

I made a comment once on Maize and Brew about them regurgitating and plagurizing others work and gave examples.  They threatened to take my User name and comment ability away lol

Writers & Reports dont like you questioning them

  1. The MGoWorkers have been ill.  Ace has documented his own issues extensively, and Brian has been sick too.  Someone (I think Seth) made mention to the MGoFlu at least once somewhere, either on here or twitter.
  2. A general lack of enthusiasm for the class as a whole amongst themselves and the readers especially.

I'm sure that whenever the next podcast gets recorded there will be some football talk, but idk that Steve will be on to discuss the recruiting class in detail.

There is some news out there - Michigan has a large CB lead for William Harrod, who is a 2019 4* OT out of Maryland.  CB picks include Sam Webb and Steve Wiltfong...

I know, Tim Drevno, blah, blah, blah, and OSU / Bama swooping in last minute blah, blah, blah but it is good that an OT is showing interest.  Michigan is REALLY high on this guy and a few pundits have said he is a top guy on our 2019 board.

Board chatter has me so depressed (/s) that I thought we would have to go down to the Div 3 ranks to an OT to play for us next year.

I don't understand why we only talk about good things.  I would be interested to hear takes on the recruiting class.  I would also be intereted in an UFR of the bowl game.  Sure these were not great events, but seems like a great opporuntity to be self reflective.

I understand not doing the OSU game because O'korn and he is graduating.  But breakdown the bowl game, so we can see what Peters did poorly and if he did anything well...
