White pants and helmet stickers on BTN now

Game vs. OSU from 11-23-74.  I don't like the pants or the stickers.

I think the aversion to the stickers is they look like shit on an otherwise clean, classic helmet.  I understand that there's no reason to hate them from a tradition perspective, since Bo started them, but they destroy the look of the best helmets in college football.

But it's football, not interior design. Helmets are supposed to be scuffed. Uniforms are supposed to be dirty and grass-stained. To me, the helmet stickers have a blue collar look. They also make the helmets look like they've seen some action.

See, I don't understand some of the anti-sticker arguments:
<br>
<br>"it ruins the classic look"- so, the stickers we had for 25 years somehow ruin the look that we have only had for the past 15? I think some peoples ideas of "classic" are different. Stickers are classic to me. That's what they wore during my first game, and when I grew up watching them.
<br>
<br>"it makes thehelmet too crowded" - yet many like adding the numbers, making the wings "taller", etc. Those all "crowd" the helmet as well.
<br>
<br>I love the numbers on the helmet as a throwback, and I love the stickers. The helmets don't start getting crowded with stickers until the last third of the season anyway. You have the first 7-8 games to enjoy the "clean" look.

This was one of the most controversial games ever, Michigan and OSU tie, they end up in a tie for the conference. By all the rules, Michigan should have gone to the Rose Bowl, but since the QB Franklin got hurt, someone not sure who, calls for a special vote on the BT rep to the rose bowl. In those days, the BT champ went to the Rose bowl, no other teams went to Bowl games at that time. The Schools AD's vote and a narrow vote Michigan is voted out and OSU is voted in to the Rose Bowl. The key swing vote that doomed Michigan...Michigan State.

Lantry was interviewed on the radio a couple years back about the end of this game.  He said he got hundreds of letters from OSU fans that sat in the end zone for that game tell him he got robbed but they were still happy they were going to the Rose Bowl over us.

I'm thankful I wasn't alive yet to see this unfold.  10-0 going into the Ohio State game and then to lose on a field goal that was good but was called no good...I wouldn't have survived.

i think the athletic director vote for the rose bowl rep problem was from 1973 game at michigan

the 1974 game featured what looked like harry banks scoring a touchdown but the offiicials said no-----then a possible game-winning field goal that was ruled wide when again it looked good

But this game is very very boring. I know there is a lot on the line and two great teams and the era was different and all that, but I am glad things have opened up a lot more in college football. It's like when you read a list of greatest movies and actually watch Casablanca and fall asleep after half an hour; great for it's time but doesn't hold my ADD very well.

just got back from the DC alumni fundraiser with the coaches. one of the questions was if he'd bring back helmet stickers. verbatim response: "no."
