but she did some sort of "narration" of a Michigan halftime show that absolutely made no sense. It was hideously bad. Historically awful. The likes of which will hopefully never be seen again, although I'm sure it can be found on YouTube somewhere.

I'm old enough to remember Whiskey the dog performing at halftime. I was a kid back then and you could walk up to the stadium on game day and buy a student ticket for $1.00. Yes you read that right - $1.00. Even though they were student tickets the box office would sell them to anyone. My grandmother even went with us a few times and would buy and use student tickets. Those were the days.

Then they raised the price to $2.00. Can you believe that, Canham double the price of student tickets from one year to the next!

I came here to post the same comment.  In the early 70s, my big brother the grad student took me (age 9 or 10) to a game for my birthday.  We walked up to the ticket window and he bought our tickets.  It is the only time in my life I had that experience at Michigan Stadium.

And I defintely remember seeing and loving Whiskey the Dog.  I also recall that the next dog (perhaps offspring of Whiskey) also participated.  The second dog was named Brandy.

I enjoyed Whiskey the dog, and seem to recall a Whiskey II.

As I recall, the dog used to run out on the field and retrieve the kicking tee following Michigan kickoffs. Fun.

Bring your own whiskey to the game! Back in the 70's that was the norm (okay it was usually a 12 pack of beer). We all enjoyed and we all behaved! There was also plenty of herbal refreshment back in the 70's. Something my parents noticed when I brought them to a game my freshman year in the student section. Oh the memories!

There were coolers of adult beverages in nearly every row. You could make a mint on collecting returnables. Eventually the AD realilized the lost drink revenue. They turned a blind eye to the hard stuff but we're more than willing to sell you the coke to mix it with. ...and I had my first contact high during an early 70's OSU game -- in the non-student section. Herbal pipes weren't just used in the student section back then

Brandy was Whisky's pup, I think.  They were adorable wirehaired terriers.  There was at least one season where the two of them were out there together.  Supposedly it was not allowed, but they did it so well and the crowd was so delighted that it went on for years: about 1966 on into the 70s.

There was an elderly man with a long "cane" who sat in the row in front of us for several games until we realized the cane had a very long straw!

during the first couple of years I was on campus in '71 and '72. The crowd loved it—who doesn't love a dog pushing a ball from one end of the field to the other?

Bring 'em back, I say. One of them needs to be named Bo.
