to "Go Fuck Yourself" in Tea Party speak?
Oh wait, this Tea Party supporter just did.
"Go Fuck Yourself" is basically Tea Party for "Yes We Can," no?
Still waiting for all these John Galts......................
Although I doubt the Gulch has a soccer field.
Kenny Powers FTW! Great show!
Wow, someone who doesn't like soccer and needs to let everyone know about it. So novel.
whether this post has a better chance of getting bumped to diary, or straight to the front page.
You sir, are the Kim Jong Il of MGoBlog. Threatening the fragile MGoPeace with nuclear holocaust at such a critical moment is irresponsible, reprehensible, and a threat to our way of life.
Slow death of RR/JH/DB/ I would like to voice my disapproval on mozzerella cheese, or death by vaporization? I am no Kim Jong Il, I am Give'em Hell Harry.
Protecting MGobloggers since yesterday.
You seem to be initiating thermonuclear war every 15 minutes.
There is a clear demiliratized zone that has been trespassed upon. I will not hesitate to save millions of Mgobloggers the equivalent of waterboarding or Chinese water toture until every last threat has been microwaved.
I don't know about that comrade Kim. Proving your patriotism takes more than posting a pic of the most nuclear bomb-iest President. What have you done for the Leman/Stanzi '12 movement today?
this tie on today: and I put this on my dog:
I keep waitiing for a time when I say "not right" or "overused". Not only not yet but not even close. Well done and fair to assume there are a bunch of silent "I agree" out there.
place in my heart for Yoopers. I used to live in Gwinn. Would love to return someday!
I'm going to run out of f-ing points down-voting all these bullsh-t threads. When will people get a f-ing clue!? (Again, apologies for the swearing. This thread falls outside the Act so, technically, no MGoInfraction was committed except under the catch-all provision . . .)
that a temporary lift of the "lose a point if you neg" rule is warranted until a decision on RR has been made public by Brandon.
Was this board trending towards socialism? Sure..... and some good discussion was squelched because the masses disagreed. But, man, the ignorance and redundancy that has seemingly grown exponentially over the course of the season is unbearable.
I am about ready to go back to the MLive boards since it looks like everyone that used to post there, now posts here.
I gave you a point so you can neg someone. So many board rules broken on this one... it's going to make me late for work.
1,000,000 free negs.
Is there any way to set up one daily thread for people that feel the need to express their personal opinions and blast all the other ones that appear on this topic? Its getting out of hand . . .
P.S. WHOA! Look at me! I've got a million points! Yeehaw!!!!
Listen, when you can generate a post with grammatical errors, disparagement of a political group, AND include no relevant discussion point beyond "man some people suck", you have truly arrived. Bravo good sir/madam!
I think posting a thread about not liking soccer is worse.
Hi, I'm Philip Johnson, and I support World Cup Soccer.
wow seriously? if you dont like soccer just dont read the blog. how is this even a question?
Es FUTBAL gringo !
Well it’s not in America. In America people f*cking hate soccer, and honestly, that’s the way it should be...Kenny Powers!!
You know what else I hate? Traffic, ATM fees, and how hard it is to open every damn thing I buy. I mean you want to put a sensor in it fine but tack welding on every possible opening is just being a dick. I need to start a thread about this ASAP
What's the deal with airplane food?
I don't live in a big city so traffic's not an issue. My bank is USAA so all charges are reiumbursed. But man, the plastic they use now is so damn hard ive almost stabbed myself with sharp knives trying to get that crap open! Argh!!!!
It's Brian's blog. He seems to like football, hockey and soccer for the most part. You read Brian's blog, therefore you get to read about football, hockey and soccer.
In the meantime, we thank our lucky stars that Brian is not likely to be a fan of 2girls1cup.
I'd love to read the UFR for that one.
I feel like "gulp" was the last word I'd want in response to that post.
So, lets see here, the OP managed to bash fearless leader, talk politics, and bring up RR job status for the eleventy-billionth time all in one post! Kudos to you sir, I think you have indeed won the internets!
Insulting a large portion of the fanbase with ligitimate opinions and bringing in politics with a grammatically horrific post. You're going to be a winner here I can tell.
That is grammatically ironic.
You make me sad.
C: the "UP IN BACK" debate.
Though equating questioning RichRod with World Cup fandom is a curious connection to make...
How many dumb things can you do in one thread?
1. Make another thread complaining about complaining about RR.
2. Disrespecting the World Cup coverage most of us liked, especially in a time of the year when we had NOTHING else.
You seem to be going for broke.
Hmmm which is worse?
I choose OP. At least RR haters have some sort of argument other than WAAAAH I have to skip past some free content.
this summer to win the group was by far the best American sports moment since a little thing called the miracle on ice ...
-soccer is the shit, if you dont like it, ignore it
-political jokes arent welcome here
Even looking at US sports moments abroad, I'd put that below:
- Every moment of the 1992 Dream Team
- Michael Phelps winning his golds, especially winning the relay against the Frenchman who guaranteed he would lose.
- Redeem Team winning the gold
- Etc. etc. etc.
That being said, agreed that it was a good moment and OP is a fool. Just sayin'
I might be biased having watched the games in sports bars in NYC, but watching a swimmer was better than truly amazing soccer games? I don't even remember a Frenchman and I watched all the races (swims? what on earth do you call them?).
And I love basketball, but probably 10 of the best 12-13 players on earth beating on Euros and South Americans? Over a soccer run like we just had? No way.
1. The dream team was iconic, sure, but damn it they were always going to win.
2. Michael Phelps is a jerk and bionic. Cheering for him is like cherring on a buzz saw.
3. Barely any more interesting than the dream team.
Soccer, on the other hand, is a worldwide sport in which the US is actually an underdog. The national element is much stronger than any other sport in which we are competitive. I suppose swimming is mostly in the national context, but it's swimming.
Someone needs to play more FIFA 11
cool post brah
Dumb Dumb Dumb
I hope the US bid wins tomorrow, and in 2022 there is a World Cup game held in Michigan Stadium. Can you imagine how crazy it would be? (Hopefully vuvuzelas would be banned, though, or else people will leave with blood pouring out their ears)
Detroit was not on the final list of bid cities.
Did they give a reason? Not enough lodging nearby?
the OP is a genuine fucking idiot....what a wasted post
Is it too late to raise the point total needed to make posts? Please for the love of God say this can be done...
I wonder if the op even knows that Michigan is good at soccer. We did win the big ten title. Who knows maybe a couple years down the road some Michigan players might even play for the national team. This has to be one of the worst threads. You should be proud of urself. Does anybody have an award to give this guy
Really. Go check it out.
I hate all people, mostly the white ones, but some of you other assholes too. Oh, and I also hate me some religion.
Is this improving the thread yet?
I still can't get through the "it has gotten as bad as the halcyon days ot World Cup Soccer" matrix. I don't get it, what in the world is ot?
I see, the whole game is played in overtime. Unexpected but nice.
I think it changed when the World Cup has held in South Africa. The whole southern hemishpere thing. Toilets flush the other way, soccer games played in overtime first, Dane Cook is funny, etc.
The "starting threads entitled 'which is worse: the "RR must go" crowd or World Cup Soccer on MGoBlog" crowd. See what I did there?
But if you look close enough, it's a quote within a quote WITHIN another quote. It's a sticky wicket, I know. Sorry for the confusion. Hopefully the snark comes through full force regardless.
[EDIT: Noticed that I forgot to finish the single quotes within the first set of double quotes. Boy, is MY face red! Carry on.]
...and that is why soccer, and especially the World Cup, is the "beautiful game". Please stop being ignora...
...I'm sorry I missed a page.
I'll object with a real soccer player
I really want to say something funny and creative here but I can't think of anything. So I'll just post this comment to recover the point I spent negging you.
for a clever retort.
Well played, sir.
Thank you, much appreciated.
Yeah, this is really helpful, picking totally idiotic political fights.
Plus you forgot the "CC" tag.
Yes, Klinnsman would have been a great pick as a replacement for Bradley. I appreciate what Bradley has done with this team, especially the run that they put together in this past WC. However, I think we need a top name to really push us over the top to truly competing for a WC title. Bradley was good enough to get us there, but the expectations have been raised, and I don't think he can meet them. Hopefully, he proves me wrong in 2014. (Hopefully talking about the USMN HC job does not violate the rules regarding discussion of other coaching jobs. If it does, I apologize profusely, its finals season and I have not had time to read the new rules regarding CC posts and such).
Thank you for the advice regarding profitgoblue's work. It is much appreciated.
I have also seen articles where Klinnsman talks about Germany's common identity as a team. The one thing that does intrigue me about having Bradley back for another cycle is whether he can create that common identity for the US. Bradley's teams have focused on athletic, hardworking defense with quick, counter-attacking offense. Installing that as a US style of play I think would be a great fit for the US. This style reminds of watching USA Hockey teams over the past 15 years. More athletic and scrappy though less skilled then the Canadians (which in Soccer would be England) and much less skilled and fluid though more physical then the Europeans (Soccer equivalent: Brazil, Argentina, Spain, France, Germany). This style of play mirrors American sporting culture's focus on hard work, playing through the whistle and giving everything for the team while also taking advantage of our ability to churn out more and better athletes then many of these other countries. Hopefully Bradley can do what Arena could not and make us a true contender on soccer's biggest international stage by instituting this as our soccer identity.
Your interpretation of the Act is correct. However, the OP definitely skated on thin ice with his skirting discussion about Rodriguez. Luckily for him, he stayed out of the stay/go fray. Thus, a negative vote but no MGoInfraction.
The worst of all is the "F**k Harbaugh" crowd. The man is only one of our greatest players ever, and a coach who might leave his top 5 team to come here, and they think it's hilarious to trash him. If you love RR, that's perfectly fine. You don't have to tear someone else down to build our own coach up.
Yeah, he said some dumb things three years ago. You know what? Get over it. David Brandon has. (Think he would have invited him to the Football Bust otherwise?)
Naturally, if Harbaugh is named our coach, every one of these internet tough guys trashing him now will recant. In fact, by next season, half of them will probably be vilifying RR for "leaving the cupboard bare" on D.
I'm not in either, but Harbaugh is the current head coach of another team. RR is the current head football coach of the University of Michigan. Anyone who calls himself a "Michigan fan" and wants to sabotage what RR is doing is far worse than someone who is PO'd at the Stanford University football coach.
Besides, sometimes people interpret wanting to keep the current coach as "f**k Harbaugh," when it really isn't about Harbaugh. For example, I have no problem with Harbaugh, and would support him just as much as I support any Michigan coach. But I am very disappointed in those in the media and "fanbase" who are so infatuated with him that they would fire the current head coach, even though he is making progress every year, to make room for Harbaugh.
If I was going to say "f**k" anyone, it would be it would be the spoiled, impatient, fickle "Michigan fans" and media who want RR fired. They are making the Michigan fanbase look as bad as the MSU or OSU fanbases. Worse yet, they are everything that MSU fans call "Walmart Wolverines."
I wish they would take it over to RCMB where it belongs.
I will not embrace him, I will not support him, and I will be ashamed of my alma mater for hiring him. His comments were not made when he was a student, or a 20 something or even in his 30s, but when he was another coach at a FBS school. They were calculated and unnecessary. The comments demonstrate a sheer lack of class on his part. As I said before, it's not just about winning, but how you represent yourself and your school. I would never want a coach to act in the way he did, it's childish.
It's not the f**k Harbaugh crowd. I do not criticize his achievements, but Harbaugh fucked himself for the Michigan job, which btw, isn't open.
dude, go back and actually read what harbaugh said. He wants michigan to hold itself to a higher standard...taking the defensive stance that nobody can talk shit about michigan hasn't been helping anyone. Yes it was critisism, maybe it wasn't as constructive as it should have been, but some people say what they want to say to get the point across in a more clear way.
Please be advised that you have violated the Prohibition on Coaching Change Opinions Act of 2010 (hereafter, the "Act"), profligated by Profitgoblue on November 30, 2010. In particular, you have violated Article 2(a) of the Act which states, in part: "Thou shalt not, under any circumstances, discuss Jim Harbaugh in connection with the Michigan head coaching job unless and until Rich Rodriguez has officially been relieved of his current contractual obligations."
Please be further advised that, pursuant to Article 3 of the Act, the minimum fine for this violation is the loss of one (1) MGoPoint, with the maximum to be determined by the MGoCommunity.
Please be further advised that, pursuant to Article 5 of the Act, if you dispute the application of the Act to your thread/post, you have twenty-four (24) hours to "file" a formal written appeal by replying to this post. All appeals will be considered on their merits as soon as practical, unless deemed to be frivolous by Profitgoblue in his sole discretion.
I'd now like to officially suggest a live blog of the Michigan soccer game Saturday.
"Botwswana" is not a country. And they weren't in the World Cup. But great post. Keep up the good work.
This hasn't been deleted yet?
I think everyone has had too much fun mocking the post for it to be deleted.
This is one of the dumbest threads of all time. Congrats you hate soccer. Guess what, I hate baseball, but I'm not about to clutter the board with that kind of crap.
Wow, some things are so annoying! I mean, what's the deal with airline food? They charge you so much for some food that isn't even all that good! What's really flying during an airplane flight is money right out of your pockets!
And what's the deal with this Justin Bieber character? For someone who's supposedly male, he seems surprisingly effeminate. He should be wearing dresses! Seriously, Justin Bie berry bad!
I pity anyone who took my post seriously.
Please forgive me, but I'm relatively new here. It’s the year-end holiday season. . . . Chanukah, Islamic New Year, Festivus, Christmas. . . . Shouldn’t we be getting down to discussions about the proper grammatical uses for "worse" and "worst"? And whether "worser" is really a word? Or whether it’s OK to start a sentence with a preposition? For that matter, has anyone ever seen UMich87 and The Most Interesting Man in the World together?
And Rodney King still asks, " (C)an we all get along? Can we get along? Can we stop making it, making it horrible for the older people and the kids?..."
is below the mothafletchin' belt!!! I went to the University of MEECHIGAN, and I can even point to some of those places on the map!
I need some muthafk'n POTATO SALAD!
I enjoy reading about that stuff on MGoBlog.
And having the USMNT win the World Cup is on my list of things that need to happen before I die. Along with replacing dollar bills with coins, I-94 six lanes from Detroit to Chicago (will make my game-day commute much easier), and winning 10 in a row against OSU.
I also want the Lions to win a super bowl, but my list has to be somewhat realistic.
New goal in life: Vacation to Batwswana
I think the worst are the "I start dumb posts" crowd
US might win Cup bid today
However if you go to Google and search Qatar you will find a bombardment of angry tweets from people who say that Qatar has already won the bid for the 2022 cup. The official announcement is not due for another 12 minutes but I guess USA isn't going to win the bid :(
Again, this is all speculation, I'd love for the USA to host the cup but it may not be likely
This post is pure unfiltered idiocy. First, if you want to make political comments, go somewhere else. Based on your Tea Party bashing, I probably agree with your politics. Don't care. I go somewhere else to talk about that stuff. The color scheme here is Maize and Blue whether we are read meat conservatives or pinko liberals. Second, I am not a big soccer fan. I coached my daughters when they were little. I learned to admire the game when I saw a couple of games during the Atlanta Olympics. Personally, I find it much like hockey in the sense that for me it is much better live and does not lend itself particularly well to television. However, the quality of the insights on this blog really helped me get excited about the World Cup to the point that I listened to an entire game of the USMNT in the World Cup on the freaking radio. And by the way, if you don't like soccer, don't read the soccer threads. Sorry for the rant, but this was just stupid.
Well thanks for nothing FIFA
OVER THE UNITED STATES
I love how this thread has totally turned against this guy.
Soccer fan. I think that it is just as OT as saying "Thread on tonight's Tigers game"
