Which road game are you going to between MSU, Iowa, and Ohio State?

Submitted by ThadMattasagoblin on

Next year we have a subpar home schedule but a great road slate. I'm not going to Rutgers because it's Rutgers and I only have enough money for one of these games. Seeing the maize and blue take over Spartan Stadium would be great and we should have the more talented roster for the first time since 2012. I've never been to the Horseshoe for a game and the big ten title could be up for grabs that week. Which ones are you guys thinking about doing?

I saw Michigan win @ MSU in '81 and saw Michigan win @ OSU in '90.  I was young and willing to deal with that shit at both places back then.  And even though I didn't have any real problems either time at either venue, I've never felt any real need to return to either place.  Not saying I wouldn't go if given a ticket, but going to either place a second time isn't at the top of my list.

OTOH, I've never been to Nile Kinnick Stadium.  I've been looking forward to that as my 2016 road game for a few years now.  Just wish it was a little earlier in the season, as long road trips in the upper Midwest get a little dicey in November with the potential for bad driving conditions.

The satisfaction of a victory in Spartan Stadium would be amazing.  I have no interest in ever going to Columbus.  They treat Michigan fans so badly, why go.  If I am going to watch my team play, why endure the hate and abuse you get from the savages in C-Bus?

If you're fearful in east Lansing, try Columbus. Won't keep me from going , but I've seen a lot of stupid random violence that makes this cincy v Pittsburgh game look like Sunday school.

I was in Spartan stadium for the comeback victory in 2007. It was glorious.

Been to Columbus multiple times and it's always horrible. I won't ever go back. It would be great to see a win there of course, but I'd actually fear for my safety on the way out of town. And if you have a vehicle with Michigan plates/stickers, id leave it at home.

I went to the game last year in Columbus, and I have to say i barely received an ounce of shit.

Truth be told I believe that's mostly because the team was so bad that OSU fans just felt sorry for us rather than hated us, but that aside, it wasn't bad at all.

I'm sure I'll get negged for this, but honestly, unless you're physically harassed or threatened, or your five year old is told to go f themselves, people who worry about getting shit at football games need to get over it. You're at a rivalry game. What do you expect? OSU fans to play nice?

Well maybe some people have had decent experiences, but I was there in 2004, 2006, and 2008. All were bad.

In 2004, osu wasn't that good and we weren't treated too horribly.

In 2006, I was punched in the chest just walking down the street. My gf (now wife) had a lit cigarette thrown at her face, in front of cops, who just laughed.

In 2008, were in my friends car in front of the hotel when a 45 year old man came up and starting peeing on the bumper. The car had Michigan plates. A group of us almost got beat up at a bar the night before the game because some girl went over and told her bf we were talking shit. We weren't. In fact, we were terrified most of the time.

Yeah you also get lots of f*** Michigans. Usually from guys in their 40s while their 8 year old kid looks on.

See that's the problem with Columbus. It's not the students, it's the middle aged guys who drink too much and have nothing else going for them. Those are the ones to watch out for.

I would've had those cops badges. Worthless basterads. Yet another poor example of pathetic law enforcment. Put me in a cage with anyone, start talking about worthless and crooked cops and that person is going to get one hell of a beating.

I went to MSU for the 2011 game and I sat in the student section with a couple other Michigan fans and some of my friends at State.  For the most part things were alright, but I was walking down the stairs to go to the bathroom and got two-hand shoved down the steps by people who then proceded to call me faggot, etc.  I went to the police officer right outside in the concourse and explained what happened and she simply said "Well, you're wearing the wrong colors".  That was the end of our interaction, I was pretty shocked actually.  When I walked back up the same guys shoved me again (this time rather harmlessly, I didn't fall or anything) and the usher saw and kicked them out, so that was good.

I never had issues in Spartan stadium but I was usually with a mixed group of Sparty and Michigan fans.

My one time in Columbus was also with a mixed group of Michigan and buckeye fans in the late 90s. The tailgate was actually a really good time. The game sucked and we lost. Me and one other Michigan fan were sitting in the old bleachers at the open end of the horseshoe. After the game I got sucker punched by a friend of a friend. He completely changed from the morning. Too much liquor I guess. He played for the OSU baseball team and I am not very big. It didn't end well for me.

I might go back someday. They wouldn't sucker punch an old guy with his kids right?

I went to every road game except for Minnesota last year. This year, I plan on going to Rutgers for sure as that is close to me and possibly Iowa. I have ZERO interest in going to MSU or OSU at this stage in my life. I wouldn't mind if it was me with some guy friends, but I usually travel with my wife and the thought of subjecting her to some jerk fans in Columbus or East Lansing isn't appealing to me in anyway.

I've been to all three places (Iowa, MSU and Columbus) and only Iowa is a reasonable place to go. Between MSU and Ohio state it is truly a battle of idiots with Columbus taking the prize. People at MSU are just drunk and not clever (dumb). Columbus has a violent tinge to it. Like a bad South American soccer venue. An insult to South American soccer venues. Iowa should be a great game and it is a good campus to visit.

Wearing their mascot's costume. That guy gets laid a lot wearing it. When I'm done screwing the cutest buckeye girl that's interested, I'll take off the mask to reveal my maize and blue painted face. It will be glorious. And totally worth the black eyes.
