Which Michigan football player are you most excited to see?

Submitted by trueblue262 on

We're approaching another season of Michigan football! Some new players will see the field for the 1st time. There are a lot that I'm interested to see contribute, but one that I am anticipating is Drake Harris. I really think this kid is going to do special things in Ann Arbor. Anybody else excited to see someone in particular?

Go Blue!

Peppers. I've heard all the hype but haven't seen anything yet. If he can live up to it, we have a superstar on the team. Otherwise, I can't think of anyone who will be totally electric.

This is just an exercise in people either saying Jabrill or people justifying why they've said someone else "not just to be different"...

Peppers on D, Peppers on O, Peppers on ST. This is a player who could join the Woodson level of performer at Michigan. Does anyone remember what happened last time we had a player like that?

It's really - what's LESS than a no-brainer? It's a negative brain function to rationalize why you're more excited to see anyone else. B. Cole, M. Cole, D. Harris, Taco or Taco pants... I hope they all succeed beyond our expectations, but if Peppers simply MEETS our expectations he'll be one of the greatest to don the Winged Helmet.

So... I say Jabrill Peppers! And then B. Cole should be very exciting, and I guess I'm very intrigued by Gentry, although it may not be this year.

it's Peppers - period. Thread is an excersize in justifying anyone but him. Yet, I'll do it. I'd go with a few guys: I've always thought Taco should be an All-American caliber guy at his size and athleticism. I wanted Hoke to try to use him like an Aldon Smith (poor man CFB version as he's not that athletic). Forget the off-field stuff but how, oddly enough, our new HC used him. Send him from the edge in a single side wide9 system that gives him 1v1 match ups all game. He should win quite a few, IMO. Mone was another but...yeah. The LB Corp as a whole! From guys like Bolden/Ross/Morgan hopefully (and finally) being as dominant as they could be to younger guys like Mike McCray. I'm also very interested in guys like Lewis and Stribling. I think Harbaugh would have recruited Stribling hard, too. Seems like his type. ON OFFENSE: Harris simply due to how freakishly dominant he was in HS st his size and not even focusing all on football. Legit 6-3+ with a basketball vertical and real speed. He's the type that I feel like would be ready to challenge for a Heisman this year if at msu or osu. Definitely the Bilitznikophff award (spelling is correct, right?). I think Cole needs to just get the ball in his hands this year. Finally, I want to see if an efficient OL can give an efficient QB the chance to make Butt the 2nd round+ talent he is. To do that we need a run game but all of that needs an OL so I'm hoping we just improve to a minimum of "above average" there but I feel like the OL will be mediocre again. I just don't trust them until I see a MICHIGAN OL again. I don't buy any preseason talk but I especially don't by the seemingly annual "we're fed up being bad, it ends this year!" OL talk. I'm hoping they surprise me.

For people who dont follow recruiting, Peppers isn't much different than any of our other unknown youngsters. In M opinion, the "person" everyone should be excited about is whoever wins the QB battle. This season will depend entirely on that kids shoulders. Peppers or no, our defense will be OK.

I think you can and should be more optimistic regarding the OL. The difference is Drevno, arguably one of the best OL coaches, period, together with Harbaugh's ability to instill over-acheivement. A big story of the Utah game will be our running game - in a good way. This whole team is going to get their mojo back this year.

because he had THE hype coming in, good thing is he is still getting the hype!

BUT we have actually so many players that have been hyped - I just want them to all deliver play on the field that matches expectations - We have talent.

I want us to just go back to smacking the crap out of people - in the trenches - in all facets.

Good call on Mason Cole. He may well be the next great LT from UM. I am also excited about seeing Bryan Cole. He may just be a freshman, but if he can improve his run blocking and route running, he may become a legit down field target. His athleticism seems to be off the chart and he has great size for the position.

I'm sure most will say Peppers. I can't wait to see him play. I'm going to go with Ty Isaac, though. If he can live up to his 5 star status and M actually has a stong running attack, then we could be looking at a very fun, exciting season.

I have a suspicion that it will be like most years and most coaches, where there is this thing called a depth chart which gets released for public consumption which will not necessarily reflect the depth chart as it is understood inside Schembechler Hall. Now that I think about it, I wonder if we are in fact simply surprised for the first game - will the media public get a depth chart to mistake for the depth chart? This could get interesting.

1. Peppers

2. Morris

3. Harris

4. Cole

I'm excited to see the defense as a whole, since Durkin's changes suggest the return of the aggressive, attacking defense that's been missing in A2 for a decade.
