Which MGoBloggers have disappeared that you would like to see come back?
Thread title says it all. MGoShoe is one who doesn't seem to post anymore. Going farther back, it was always fun to see MGoJen post something and there would immediately be 10 guys trying to stalk her and ask her out.
Which people can you remember who made valuable contributions to the MGoCommunity, and now are absent?

WolvinLA1 and Formerlyanonymous was good mod. Jhackney was usually pretty funny too.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:18 PM ^
WolvinLA1 was just the former handle of WolvinLA2. It's just that the former moniker disappeared for some unknown reason. They're the same guy, though.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:21 PM ^
Yeah, what happened to FA? I thought he was a mod. Mods aren't supposed to just leave. Mods are forever.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:59 PM ^
He was just finishing school, working with the Texans, and the dark Board/Blog end of Rich Rod all got to be more trouble than it was worth, so he, you know, found a life.
I may have to look into one of those things one of these days....
February 10th, 2012 at 1:32 PM ^
I agree with a lot of the other names brought up, but the first one that came to mind was formerlyanonymous.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:18 PM ^
i'd like to nominate some of the characters that splintered off to form the WLA. big gay heart, anyone? also, i remember great informative posts from gsimms85, who someone mentioned above. and, yeah, dex.
there were some hilarious threads back in the old days, during the coaching search and transition (the other, older one), before the format change of the blog. some ridiculously long and unwieldly threads on drupal (or whatever that platform was called) that would crash.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:20 PM ^
Haloscan!
Yeah. That was fun.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:22 PM ^
What year/month did it switch from Haloscan?
February 10th, 2012 at 1:27 PM ^
Summer of 2008, I believe. But I'm not positive.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:31 PM ^
That sounds about right. That's when I started reading, and I know the switch had already been made.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:32 PM ^
June 30, 2008 to be exact
February 10th, 2012 at 1:42 PM ^
And the "joined" date to prove it too. That's a pretty impressive MGoStatus Symbol right there.

6/30/2008 was like christmas day...
February 10th, 2012 at 4:51 PM ^
Well June 30th IS my birthday afterall so i get why everyone would be fired up over it.......
February 10th, 2012 at 2:16 PM ^
I can even tell you that it went online sometime around 3-4AM, as I was pulling an all-nighter writing a political philosophy paper and joined as soon as I saw it with the hope that there was some kind of award for being the first to join.
To the fraternity!
February 10th, 2012 at 2:18 PM ^
Co-ed fraternity? My sister joined June 30, 2008.
February 10th, 2012 at 3:32 PM ^
or it didn't happen!
February 10th, 2012 at 2:22 PM ^
The "Lost Weekend" re-enactment? It's all a blur.
February 10th, 2012 at 2:23 PM ^
Is this fraternity members only?
February 10th, 2012 at 1:33 PM ^
I believe that. I think I was reading the blog for 6-9 months before I created an account but I never remember and major format shift other than the great malware disaster(s).
February 10th, 2012 at 1:33 PM ^
I know the blog got too big for that platform, but those days were all kinds of fun.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:36 PM ^
Anybody got some screeners from it? Just curious if I remember.
February 10th, 2012 at 2:43 PM ^
Here's the old site:
I checked the comments on a couple of blog posts and it all seems to be there. A few random things I remember experiencing on Haloscan:
(1) The Horror
(2) The Oregon game the next week
(3) Sam McGuffie's commitment announcement (I have no idea why this sticks with me so much)
February 10th, 2012 at 1:21 PM ^
Definitely Big Boutros. He was one of the funniest posters on here.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:23 PM ^
what you were getting from Boutros, that's for sure. That or you had no idea why he was saying what he was saying.
February 10th, 2012 at 4:04 PM ^
TomVH.
Also - whatever happened to Waggles? Dude was always one of the first five commentors on a thread, and now... nothing. Banned? Dead? I don't know.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:23 PM ^
I probably miss sad emo Brian Cook the most.
Nah I miss McFarlin and em0 and.......
I dont' see Shredder Post very often, I always liked that dude.
SethPa was also a good poster.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:27 PM ^
I miss lots of the old haloscan posters. Not always very on-topic, but the threads were hilarious. Not as easy to know exactly which poster was always the funny one as handle-jacking was a daily occurrence. But those were some funny days - also coincided with the great RR coaching search (for me, anyway), so it could have been as much an artifact of the context too. But to be specific, Dex was an obnoxiously hilarious poster, BigGayHeart (I think?) also used to chime in with some quality posts. Jamiemac was a big part of those threads too and I'm always glad to see one of his posts still.
I guess this makes me one of the minority of mgoblogizens who found the WLA funny.
Edit: and, just like in haloscan days, I'm too late to be relevant - BKbloo and Magnus got here first.

they're pretty much the same thing.
Anyway: I spend most of my time on twitter now. I find that's easier to keep up with.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:28 PM ^
CPS was a super snarky dude, but he used to be effing hilarious.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:32 PM ^
with ANY of the above entries.
I read this site a long time before i decided to register and sometimes comment.
I have nothing really interesting to say...but seeing those names of posters that we don't hear from anymore made me realize just how good some of them were.
A part of me died when i saw how badly RR was treated by the school and the people here. We seemed to aquire a bunch of really ignorant and nasty people here and i believe it drove away some posters. This is by far the best sports blog there is as far as Michigan sports goes...but its not nearly as "interesting" or as "classy" as it used to be.
Things change.
Such is life.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:36 PM ^
I disagree about this place being less classy. I think it has become more "classy" because of all the mods deleting racist/cruel comments and banning posters. However, I do think some of the interesting posters have been pushed away by the exploding readership and the censorship.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:39 PM ^
I did stop posting when the readership and commentership exploded. It just got to be too much.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:56 PM ^
Did you retire your old avatar? I loved that pic.
February 10th, 2012 at 2:07 PM ^
I still have it, but I find the winged mitten gets a better response.
February 10th, 2012 at 2:27 PM ^
Loved your old avatar.
February 10th, 2012 at 5:04 PM ^
0 out of 1 Yoopers like it.
February 17th, 2012 at 11:35 AM ^
the UP work somehow, but I don't have that kind of skill. I like the UP and wanted to fit it in, but that'll have to left to someone more graphic designy than I. Having the UP just sitting there all blue while the Mitten had wings just made the UP look sad.
February 10th, 2012 at 3:43 PM ^
around the time of RR's firing and Hoke's hiring was when I first started to notice a good portion of the old guard starting to disappear at much quicker pace.
I feel that a lot has changed here since then. Your point about classy and interesting is most definitely true. The blog has a lot more gossipy/lame/facepalm type posters now, IMHO.
February 10th, 2012 at 4:16 PM ^
I think it can partially be attributed to the new voting system. In the past, a good negbang would bring new posters into line. Now, it's a total free-for-all of idiots here sometimes.
February 10th, 2012 at 4:49 PM ^
but the whole vibe has seemed to change. Maybe the "free-for-all of idiots" just dilutes the same solid content there has always been too much now.
