alternate headline: man does job
Blue. Not only sleeker, but the white tend to get mud on them throughout the game and remind me of my dirty laundry bin.
Yeah, but it's football - they're supposed to get down and dirty.
One thing I miss about having Fieldturf is that we never get grass stains on our uniforms at home anymore.
I like the blue..it brings out the helmet..i just like Michigan tho really
Is it cloudy or sunny? Day or night?... If I had to pick only one, I'm going with
Cause of America and stuff.
White! Because of America and stuff?
I have an idea. Let's have white, blue and maize socks. The offense, defense, and special teams could all have their own color. I realize this could cause problems with players that will end up playing on multiple sides of the ball, but just some food for thought.
To answer you question, I am really torn and don't have much of a preference.
I have a better idea: for the sake of uniformity, all members of the team will wear the same socks. They will be maize, white, and blue bumblebee stripes!
but we may need to neg this comment just to hide it from Brandon and his staffers or we will end up in clown socks like these:
It used to be, "for the sake of uniformity", that a team would wear the SAME UNIFORM all year, or even better, all the time.
Maybe I'm just really tired, but are you really asking everyone what sock color they prefer? Maybe we should debate next whether the players wear boxer briefs or boxers?
I say briefs. Gotta keep that stuff contained while playing sports.
Maybe the offense should wear boxers to keep things loose, while the defense wears briefs to help them contain not only the opposing offense, but also their valuables.
Centers to wear briefs.
The depressing truth is that a number of football players go full Cosmo Kramer under the uniforms.
I'm out there Jerry, and I'm loving every minute of it.
It scares me that you may know this! And fergodsakes, it may even scare me more to know how you found this out! 8P
You know we need the season to start when we are debating socks.
White and it's not even close in my mind. High whites with black shoes make everybody look cooler and a hell of a lot faster IMO.....
Tell me those arent badass!
Those aren't badass. You told me to tell you so.
Fair enough. Now tell me your home address, the routing numbers for your bank accounts, your social security number and all of your credit card numbers please.
Hey if it works for socks.......
When I read the title, I thought "white away, blue home, obvs; black shoes always." It seems I am in a small (or not as vocal) minority; the Blues have it. However, I don't think 70's; I think late-90's, early 00's. That uniform Brady is wearing, period, should be our away uni, maybe updated without the stripes the way they are (though I'd keep 'em). And socks- maybe some block M's on them too.
before DB gets the bright idea of bumble bee striped socks pulled up to the knees.

Blue. No doubt.
I say blue. White looks too 1970s.
I say let's go full 1970's . . . WHITE SOCKS WITH WHITE SHOES.
And big Afros. Definitely big Afros.
Because blue is clearly superior for away socks.
"This is Michigan"
Although white looks good on the away uniforms too. Now if we're talking home uniforms...then blue no doubt. There's something very unappealing, at least in my eyes, when I see our guys in a blue jersey, maize pants....and white socks.
Blue. No question.
The socks should match the jersey. Blue at home, white on the road. And they should always be worn high, no bare legs!
Dark socks in football are like dark socks with shorts. Bad.
My favorite away uniforms were always the 1997 version, so white sox it is.
26 days...26 days...26 days...
I like the whites for away and the blues at home. I like it even more when they win.
upon calf circumference. Skinny=White; Bulbous=Blue. See, Tate's guns for example.
The white socks don't look good with the black shoes. We look like a bunch of Grandpas.
Though I never ever considered this in past.
I like 'em both.
I really don't care. Let's just win.
Now we're debating sock color?
The season can't come fast enough.
With away uniforms, they look better.
White sox are okay, but look better on home uniforms.
It would be sweet if we could rock some blue shoes as well.
For the away uni's I don't mind one way or the other really, white or blue look good (I prefer Blue, but white is fine). For the home uni's though, it can only be blue. The white look turrible IMHE.
The away uni viewed from from afar appears predominantly white and maize. So it really needs blue socks.
Blue FTW. Not that it's a big deal, but I much prefer the blue for both home and away.
The white socks all day. Look so much more crisp.
...for both away and home uniforms. This is a critical component to maintain UMs traditional uniform legacy. The contrasting white socks just look better, are more traditional and is unique when compared to what everyone else wears.
Back in the 70s and 80s, UM was one of the few teams along with USC and PSU that bucked the previaling football fashion trend and continued to wear black vs white shoes. At some point during the late Carr era, UM players started wearing black/blue socks while USC and PSU maintained their traditional black shoes/white socks. Blue socks, even with the home uniform, IMO puts UM in the "me too" category for college football uniform trends as it relates to shoe/sock combinations (see Ohio, Nebraska and Wisconsin).
