Which games will have you pacing in 2012?

Submitted by Blazefire on

So, thinking back to 2011, I recall that I spent a bit of the season wearing holes in the carpet in front of my TV, my Father's TV and the floor at BWW in Ann Arbor, as well. I paced out at least a half marathon between the endings of UTL, OSU and the Sugar Bowl. Took a month off the lives of my sneakers.

So, it being June 8th and nothing at all going on, I thought I'd ask, which games do you think will have you neglecting your home's seating?

I'm figuring OSU again, (I think the game will be tight), and I'm hoping Bama. I think if it's not close it'll probably be not close Bama's way. I'm also thinking MSU, though I'll probably pace that whether it's close or not because it's been so long now.

I don't even think I'll sit down for 'Bama.  I fully expect to spend that game screaming my lungs out at my television... better make sure the girlfriend's going to be elsewhere.

Just thinking about the Bama game. It could be a 1997 Colorado type eye opener/coming out party or a 1998 Syracuse "we're not ready" beat down.

Bama for sure but like everyone else has said above, most of them will be like that because of that schedule. Just to add a side note, I live in Alabama and they're definitely already running there mouths.

I can't say Bama, because it's OOC and my expectations are a little lower there.

So... Ohio State (at the shoe... when was the last time we won a game there?)

Michigan State - i suppose because it's in conference and likely could determine BTCG.

Notre Dame has been  a nailbiter the last few years, but because it's OOC, i'll rank MSU ahead of it.

1.  OSU - because its OSU.  Nuff said.

2.  MSU - will likely determine who goes to the BTCG, but also because I have had enough of them beating us.

3.  ND - need to continue our dominance over ND, but as you noted, it is OOC, so less significant.

4.  Bama - I know, we probably lose by 30, but what if we don't?  The possibility of the media fawning and the instant bump to top 5 if we beat them (along with the benefit to recruiting) are so exciting, that even though it is unlikely, the mere possibility makes this game exciting.

MSU, because they just need to be beat for Dantonio's sake.  I haven't dislikesd a coach as much as him that I can recall.  And, the events of last year's game still have me annoyed.  If this game is close, everyone will be nervous for the 5 in a row factor.  Hopefully we pummel Sparty from start to finish and can enjoy it.

Maybe it's because I now live in Alabama and get sick to my stomach of hearing how much better the SEC is over everything God created. I would say Bama first, MSU second (because this has to end) and OSU. ND is due for one so I wouldn't be upset at the outcome of that game either way. But those 3 games I want more than anything this year.

You wear your shoes during the entire game at home? I wonder what Herm would have to say about that...

For me its:

Alabama

I don't think we have much of a shot here, but it will still have me pacing for the 3 quarters or so.

MSU

We need to win that game to shut up the idiots at my work. I'm so sick of hearing from them.

Nebraska

I don't like the idea of playing at Nebraska, even though I don't see how they closed the gap competition wise with us this year compared to last year.

Ohio

It's The Game.

I live in Arkansas and I have had about all I can take of the whole "SEC is the best" BS. I would love to beat the best the Shitty Education Confrence has had to offer over the last 7 years. That being said,  until we are up by 4 touchdowns with less than 5 minutes left in the game I will be wearing a hole in the carpet during every game.

I am so sick of them its unbelievable

also...OSU and ND, as always... and Bama for the first quarter, because i'm really not sure what my expectations should be

It is a terrible week to have to prepare for a gimmicky offense after facing Bama. The emotions could be very high or rock bottom depending on the opener and Air Force poses a major issue for a young secondary when you have an unproven d-line that will be beaten up physically by the Tide. That game scares me most because it's one that should be a gimme, unlike ND, Sparty or OSU, which are legitimate concerns in any season.
