Which departing players will be on a NFL roster week 1
Who's going to the League and sticking there? Some will get drafted and make a NFL active roster, some will get drafted and NOT make the roster. Others go the free agency route, roll the dice and hope to make the dream a reality
Who will be on a NFL roster on week 1 of the 2017 season?
DEFENSE
Jabrill Peppers-100% The lockest of the locks
Jourdan Lewis-100% Elite coverage skills will keep him employed for years
Taco Charlton- 100% NFL size, speed, and edge pressure
Chris Wormley-85% Not a lock. He'll have to earn it. But I think he sticks
Ryan Glasgow- 75% He'll have to prove he can hold up to blocks. Stud in college. Will it translate to the NFL?
Channing Stibling-75% can be a lock down corner, but run support is lacking. He'll have to prove he can tackle NFL skill guys
Dymonte Thomas-40% He has the speed, but does he have the skill?
Delano Hill-25% I'll be honest, I have no idea of his draft stock or projection to the next level. Most likely not
Ben Gedeon-5% He's just not going to have the speed to hang in the NFL.
Matt Godin-0% No chance.
OFFENSE
Jake Butt-Without knee injury he's 100% lock. With the knee though he won't be back in time
Amara Darboh-50% He could be a possession receiver ala Jason Avant
Jehu Chesson-20% Not very productive this year. I doubt he gets drafted
Erik Magnuson-20% Best chance of the olineman. Not close to elite though.
Kyle Kalis-10% He's down in Arizona working with LeCharles Bentley. That will help his chances
Ben Braden-2% He just doesnt have what it takes to stick in the NFL
DeVeon Smith-0% We love him, but we know his game wont make it at the next level

I disagree on Mags and Delano.
I think Delano is a sleeper. I expect him to bounce around a few years.
It would not surprise me if Devoen Smith ends up on a practice roster and gets some playing time due to injuries.
Chesson ends up playing for someone.
Kalis will at least end up on a practice squad. Too much physical talent there to not take a swing.
Darboh will certainly be drafted. Cannot fathom that he's not a 3 for someone.
Also, Wormley is a lock.
January 12th, 2017 at 4:40 PM ^
Also, De'Veon also has a misfortune of being in the best RB class in years and he's likely a UDFA due to the depth of the class.

There are enough people out there with physical tools that can properly execute to keep him out of the league

And couldn't disagree any more about Kalis -- he got used badly.
He ought to hone his insurance selling skills.

January 12th, 2017 at 3:42 PM ^
hope those men at the bottom of your predictions prove you wrong.
January 12th, 2017 at 3:45 PM ^
Starting with Peppers. He might be the most interesting man in the Green Room come draft day. I've seen mock drafts where he goes as high as #3 to the Bears and as low as out of the first round entirely. Personally I really want the Browns to take him at #12 (assuming Samuels is gone) to bookend the defense with Garrett but who the hell knows.
Charlton is another one who I've seen mid first round, bottom first round and then out altogether. Given that teams tend to overdraft QBs and D linemen my guess would be his combine performance will be critical to where he lands.
Lastly Lewis is all over the mock draft board. I've seen him go as high as #7 to the Chargers and as low as out of the first round. Another guy whose measureables at the combine will move the draft needle up or down.
January 12th, 2017 at 4:18 PM ^
In the world would you want any Wolverines on the Browns?!? I'd take 31 other organizations over that one for our boys.
January 12th, 2017 at 4:20 PM ^
I would die a happy man if the Browns drafted Jabrill at 12 and Lewis in the 2nd. However, after reading all of the shit Browns fans tend to say about him, I really don't want him to have to suffer on our team. Browns fans might be the dumbest, most bitter fan base in all the world.
January 12th, 2017 at 4:46 PM ^
"Browns fans might be the dumbest, most bitter fan base in all the world."
Looks like somebody's never been to East Lansing! I think they've got that award down cold.
In fairness to my dumb, bitter brethren here the anti-Michigan shit Braylon took was after season #3 in which he specialized in dropping wide open passes thrown directly to his stomach. His first two years here you nevr heard a world said about it. And Braylon brought a lot of it on himself with the WR diva routine that I dont see Peppers pulling for a second.
I think he would be loved here quickly. Just like Thom Darden, George Lilja, Steve Everitt and especially Leroy Hoard were.

Jourdan Lewis isn't getting drafted at 1st round and CB class is the best in recent memory. He's an undersized CB who will need to move to the nickel spot in the next level. Most likely at late 2nd to late 3rd depending on who you talk to.

Peppers will go in the first round and he is a safety, the #1 safety on the board for many as his versatility is not seen as a detriment but an asset and they love the sure tacking ability in the open field. It is possible Adams or Hooker are taken before him but I wouldn't count on it. There are 5 (with a possible 6th) teams that are known to be thinking of taking him that are sitting in the first 15 picks and if he slides to the 20-30 range there are 3 more. That's damn near a third of the league who thinks they know what to do with him The Browns and Lions are not in that group of teams by the way.

First sentence is just not true. Period. You will see this on Thursday night of the draft. The Jets and Bills are especially interested as are the Saints. The Chargers may be in the mix as well. As to whether he is taken after Adams and Hooker, it will depend on if they are taken by a couple of the teams I have mentioned and this may happen but to say they aren't high on Peppers is not true.
January 13th, 2017 at 1:39 AM ^
I've been consitent that I have friends in the NFL and they're all saying the same thing. They think Peppers aren't as good as most people think they are because he doesn't have a true position and his coverage skills leaves a lot to be desired. It's a huge gamble based on his potential and they said they rather go for a sure thing in Adams and Hooker because they have done safety duties that Peppers havent done at Michigan.
January 13th, 2017 at 9:08 AM ^
And I have family that do this for a living for the NFL so now that we both have our source credentials out of the way we can maybe not make it into a pissing contest. It's annoying anyway when people on here cite sources that cannot be verified or are unsubstantiated so I try to leave what I say on here as opinion only. I only speak on this particular one because there is a disconnect between what people who have an opinion on Peppers say and those who actually have to make the decisions and have thier jobs tied to them say. We will see who is right come the draft. It's not a big deal. I will say this though, scouting and personnel work for the Shield is a small fraternity and they are not as antagonistic toward each other as they are made out to be so some of these things are pretty common knowledge within the groups. Certain teams love Hooker and certain ones love Peppers. Same for Adams. The comments that have been made are that they all are close to the same size with similar measurables but that a couple of teams are more concerned with ball skills while a few are more enamored at the prospect of being able to use Jabril in more situations, basically more bang for the buck.
So I am not in for a rude awakening. In fact, I will give you a quote from an AFC East team when comparing Adams and Peppers. "Both can do the job. Only one has an established brand, the story, puts asses in the seats, ROI"

Absolutely zero chance Charlton isn't taken in the first round as it stands right now. He is the biggest lock Michigan has for what GMs are looking for.

I agree. That was what I saw too but he is too good of an athlete to let get away when pass rushers are the premium position in the league. They want guys they don't have to pay a fortune to that translate quickly into on the field results.

January 12th, 2017 at 3:43 PM ^
I'm sure one or two of the fringe guys that don't end sticking on an active roster will end up on the Ravens' practice squad.
January 12th, 2017 at 3:49 PM ^
I think you underestimate Gedeon and Darboh.
Gedeon never seemed unathletic or slow (which is why his lack of playing time in 2015 was so baffling). He got beat by the occasional elite speedster, but that's going to happen to any linebacker.
Darboh will be a 4th or 5th wideout for someone.

Rounds 1-3: 0
Round 4: 1
Round 5: 3
Round 6: 11 (out of 45 -- with compensatory picks factored in)
Round 7: 7 (out of 32)
175 players were selected in the first 5 rounds in 2016. Of those 175, four were cut out of camp. 97.7 percent.
